3. Yep - I bought it with the intention of playing it with my Verellen meatsmoke (now sold). Possibly the best bass sound I've had.
4. It's with a heavy heart that I'm listing this. I ordered this bass January 20th 2015, and took delivery 4th November 2016. The spec is: Maple bird's-eye facing Mahogany core Vintage satin stain finish Side dots (between lines) Fretless ebony board with lined pear The band I was playing bass in folded just before I took delivery of this from Paul at Wal, and I have been back playing guitar in my main band since, and I'm looking to finance a Gibson Murphy Lab or Historic Makeover Les Paul. This bass has probably had less than 20 hours of home based play. In August 2017 the neck was sent to H.G. Thor (Woodwiz, New York) to undergo a full epoxy treatment which has now made this a top pro level instrument. Please note, H.G's wait list was already 4 years at the time this work was carried out, and I went on his list long before the Wal was ordered. I don't know if he still carries out this type of work, but is considered the best in the business for epoxy work. The bass is listed on the Wal Registry so buy with confidence It plays incredibly either with rounds or flats (I'll put the thomastiks back on before sale). Happy for potential buyers to come and try it out (Birmingham, B29). Preference is on collection due to value, but might entertain shipping/overseas etc. Also listed on Reverb and the bay (100% positive feedback on both). No trades. Thanks Matt (07554519171)
5. I tried it out, and it sold during the day whilst I was trying to scrape the cash together to buy it I'm in the process of commissioning a clone of it with Electric Wood, but just wondered if this one was still in the UK.
6. Out of curiosity, who bought the '84 fretless from Bassdirect in 2013?
7.
Looking good! Yes, the HB2s have been around a while, but the HB7 versions are new.
They look nice - kind of remind me of the set of Fender Coronado/mustang bass lollypops I sold a while ago.
8. After having lollypop tuners on by '69 Jazz for a long time I hunted down the Hipshots about 4 years ago for My midi bass build. Managed to get hold of one of their lollipop drop tuners too
9. Hey Chris - might be worth you looking into Q-tuner pickups - I have some of their BS jazz bass pickups mated up to an East J-retro (with S-1 style mod). Might get you near to that open growly Wal sound - though to be honest I had a noodle on a Wal Custom last saturday and think I might need one
10. Have a look at Pepper Pedalboards. Just got a board finished by John in Marshall Purple tolex - stunning work. 11. For sale is my lovely (and sadly discontinued) Ibanez BTB 555. I have used this on a variety of recordings since buying it and it is a fabulous reliable bass. It is currently without string or a nut as was previously set up EADGB before putting into storage so will need to be restrung/re-nutted by the buyer. There are a couple of dings which I have tried to capture on the pictures, but they are tiny and don't detract from the great looks of this bass. I will be sad to see it go but I am pretty much playing 4 string fretlesses exclusively these days for it is surplus to requirements. I'll chuck in a Bass Centre Padded gig bag. Looking for offers around £450. Collection preferred, but I will ship any where (including over seas as I know these are like hens teeth outside of the British Isles). I pinched the following blurb from Digital Villages page: The Ibanez BTB555 5-String Bass Guitar, Maple/Mahogany Body, 5-piece Maple/Walnut Neck, Bartolini Pickups, 3-band EQ, Natural Finish. An electrifying, high quality 5-String bass with rich, clean and versatile tones. The Ibanez BTB555 is built with all the top shelf materials, delivering rich, electrifying tones. The BTB555MP takes the traditional formula of powerful tones produced by a massive body and substantial neck and then adds an even longer 35 inch scale neck, the right mix of select woods and high-tech appointments. The BTB555MP has a unique off-center line neck shape, which follows the natural path of the thumb as it moves up the neck, making upper fretwork as easy as playing the lower frets. The 35 inch neck scale provides superior articulation with no "flopping" and solid sustain. A 5-piece maple and walnut neck, maple top and back plus mahogany body, 18-volt active Vari-Mid preamp, Bartolini pickups and a Monorail 2 (MR-II) bridge deliver the rich tones without interference from other strings. The main features of the Ibanez BTB555 include: An electrifying, high quality 5-String bass with rich, clean and versatile tones 35 inch neck scale Hi-tech NeutrikR locking jacks offer secure and stable connection 18-volt circuitry offers more headroom 5 piece BTB5 Maple/Walnut Neck Maple Top And Back Mahogany body 24 Medium frets MR-2 bridge (19mm string spacing) Bartolini MK1 Neck Pickup Bartolini MK1 Bridge Pickup Vari-Mid IIIB 3-band eq (18v) Chrome Hardware Rosewood Fingerboard with Abalone dot inlays
