Also, they're more stable (having a lower centre of gravity). This , in turn, avoids lawsuits from crushed players who pulled their stacks over! Not all heads (although they're getting smaller of late) will stand atop a vertically-oriented 2x10 or 2x12, as the top surface area is too small. Whilst plonking your head on a vibrating enclosure is hardly good for it from an acoustic feedback point of view, it's still where most of us deposit our amps for practicality's sake...
Very good point - unless you have a small amp it would be difficult to balance it on top of the sideways speaker. It is only convention and ease that we place our amps on top of cabs. There is no reason or benefit other than that as far as I know. There is nothing to stop you putting your amp on a stand or flightcases etc if that is easier or more practical, eg if you use a small/low speaker or space does not allow. Any one else not put their amp on top of their cab? Mark

I reckon Robbie is your man for DrAmp - see his sig above
-
My advice is to try them side by side as they have slightly different characteristics tonally - PM me if you want to do a shoot out

The Bergy 210 and 112s both have plenty of low end, the 112s probably project the low end the farthest (judging by the reaction of people at music live when we ran them).
Oh god, that singlecut 5... absolutely stunning in every single way. I need some money, quick. And I'm seriously thinking about changing my EMGs for Delanos, having heard those ones yesterday.
Spooky voice on "Get the Delanos, get the Delanos, get the Delanos etc etc....... " spooky voice off!

Si Cool day out and what a lovely bass, looks and sounds terrific. The Nordy DCs add some nice bite and clarity to the sound and the bass is light in weight but big in tone Mark

James You could be right - I have been playing the WT Chronos through the Bergy IP112........... Doh - I have just discovered the Pre amp is the East U retro deluxe 5 knob and has a pull bright on the treble control and a pull passive mode on the passive tone control....oh my, even more great tones available now........ Mark PS: Off for a break now for ten days - catch you all on my return!
-
Guys I have a private studio where you can come and try the gear if you are interested, near Leamington Spa. Oh - I am now doing Accugroove by the way, just to make it more tempting!!!! Mark
The Roscoe arrived in time for the show then ..... did it sell?
Nick Yep - the Roscoes arrived just as I was leaving to set up for the show!!!! I sold the beautiful Bubinga SKB to a cool player from Stoke on Trent (Pete) and I have a couple of guys interested in the Redwood SKB that James is playing above - it was great to see the reaction of players who never picked one of these up before Mark
-
Just to let you guys know after the success of Music Live - I will be trying to organise some open day/nights soon in the Midlands area, for starters, to allow Basschatters the chance to try out all this gear again and, if you like, bring your own gear in to A-B it. Mark

Who is this playing a Roscoe then!!!
-
Nick It was good to meet you - I have just checked out you're profile I think you have some sort of Bass OCD THING GOING ON - how many basses!?!?!?!?! James Pleasure to help out - your playing certainly got some attention over the weekend, keep up the good work. Mark
-
Just got back from the show and a bit knackered - I managed to wedge a gig in last night straight after the show and got in at 2AM and then back in at 9am this morning! It was great to meet so many cool bass players over the weekend and lots of basschatters - you know who you are I agree it was somewhat lacking in high end gear and very bass lacking, I hope that myself and Ebass made up for that. It was great to showcase alot of new gear to a very appreciative bunch and players - thanks to all of you Mark
-
OMG - is that how we really look!! Only joking, it was a quickly posed photo designed to capture the moment and what a great moment. I have to say that apart from meeting such great people the basses did the talking - Pete has possibly the finest collection of basses I have had the oportunity to see/play and what a gent! Thanks for the memories. Oh - and I did want to touch the bass, just not on the headstock particularly. Actually, I think Old Git comes out well in that photo compared to real life
-
Dave My pleasure I am really looking forward to trying your gear out - it looks v cool! All Basschatters welcome Mark Sorry about earlier, long hours recently
No chance you bringing them down to Brighton for me to have a listen to is there? Nah didn't think so!
Erm......sorry a bit too far It is worth the trip if you are serious though - we may be able to do a 7 day try out, but you would have to cover any carriage costs. PM me if you have need any more info etc. Regards Mark
