1. Marty It is a shame you have to move this one on, but I understand your situation at the moment, all I can say is that this is one sweet bass! Mark
 2. In stock and £399 inc free shipping at the moment! Mark
 3. I had these in for appraisal and am impressed - I went off wireless systems years ago, this system answers all my previous concerns about, sound quality, battery life, ease of use, size. If you come in to the shop you are welcome to try this system out - I am using one myself now ;-) Regards Mark
 4.
Mark That was a fine looking and sounding bass. Someone in the audience was talking to Nathan about 36" scale and yet I believe that the BBNE2 is 34" scale according to the spec sheet. Is that right? Peter
Peter This is what I believe - the bass sounded great with a super B string tone (he was all over that bass). That is a high quality Japanese hand made bass with the best woods etc and that is why it sounded so great. I am a huge fan or 35" scale 5 and 6 string basses, but if you are jumping from 4 - 5 string then a 34 does make a bit more sense and there are some really good 34" 5 string basses available (most of them are in my shop BTW ;-) ) which is great news for those who prefer 34". 36" scale is pretty hectic for most of us, although there are inherent benefits, however I suggest checking out the Dingwalls if you are looking to go super deep! Mark

I also have the bass that Nathan was playing at Bass day for sale at a very special price. NEW FLASH - Genz Benz Shuttle 9 amps arriving this week!!!!! See you all again next year ;-) Mark
 6.
Cool, they look very interesting. Have yet to try fanned frets so may have to hassle you for a go on one Cheers Alun
Alun No probs - they are sooo easy, it looks weird but feels very natural to me (and most that try them) - it keeps the B string tighter both tonally and physically. Anyway - off topic alert!!! M
 7. Oh yeah - I will also be the official TC Electronic dealer on the day and there will be good offers for any orders taken at the show for those interested. Mark
 8.
Would love to see some Berg cabs, Genz Benz amps (especially Shuttle Max), Clover, Nordstrand and Mayones basses, if that's ok.
You got it - I will also have the New Dingwall Combustion basses that arrived today - very cool, I have thread HERE with the information. See you Sunday :-) Mark
 9. Hi all I am going to be at the show myself this year, Ped and Machines very kindly ran my stand last year brilliantly whilst I was stuck at Music live! I will bringing a good selection of gear with me but if there is anything in particular that you would like to see or play please let me know. See you next Sunday :-) Regards Mark
 10. Hi all - I now have free shipping on the Mono and the iGiG bags (I have the very cool tweed bags in stock) ;-) By the way, the Mono has less storage and is slightly slimmer than the iGiG which has more storage and is a little heavier - both are lightweight though. Mark
 11.
Bought my Roscoe from him. Top bloke!
Hey Pete - how is the Roscoe?, you have one the finest SKB3005s I have played! Regards Mark PS NJE - good to see you today, I hope you had a nice time at the castle ;-)
 12.
Cheers, Will probably give a call later but cant while I am at work and just wanted to see if it was an option for friday. I am planning it today and It was either bass direct and warwick castle or west midlands safari park, I think we have a winner and its bass related!
NJE I am in the shop Monday - Friday 9.30 - 5.30, I open on Saturdays by appointment as I want to give customers the space and time to try gear out which can be difficult in music shops on a Saturday with too many customers hanging around. It is always worth calling or emailing me before so I can make the time for you. I am also thinking of doing a deal with Warwick castle so you can have a family bass and joust day ;-). PS - No pressure to buy, you are more than welcome to just pop in for a look, and basschatters are always welcome. Regards Mark
 13.
hmmmm An AE112 appears to be about $649 in Bass Emporium, Texas, Your shop lists one around £600. An GS112 at the US Guitar Centre is $499, for example. and at Bass Merchant at £355. so, not sure why Aguilar transfer over at a better rate ( for UK buyers ) to the UK than Bergs... Not making this point as to which is the best cab..just that Aguilars seem to have a more competitive price which transfer across an exchange rate better than Bergs do.. I suggest, or suspect that more competition for Aguilar products helps here. IMV. Good move on the handles, IMO.
JTK I cannot comment on what the mark up on Aguilar is and it may be greater than is available on Bergantino hence the discounts available, plus my prices also include the fitted/padded covers that cost £60 on an AE112 that would be extra on the cab at Bass Exchange. Also it depends on what exchange rate the cabs were purchased at - if the cabs were bought at $2/£1 then it is possible that the prices are now out of sync. I can assure you that my prices are very competitive and where ever possible would work out cheaper that importing similar items from the USA yourself. The handles came about through UK feedback - the HT/EX112ER cabs now have side handles as requested by many users. Regards Mark

 15.
Like the sound of Bergs, but only having one distributor here seems to 'promote' a false price..possibly. £600 or in the region of, for a 12 over here...and yet they aren't that more expensive in the U.S than the competition.IIUC.. plus...not a fan of strap handles on cabs in general... but if the weight is right and the sound is right, I could live the handle issue as the box is not big or cumbersome.
JTUK Bergantino cabs are more expensive than regular bass cabs in the USA. They are hand made in the USA and use only the best woods and custom drivers x - overs etc, non of which comes cheap! The UK prices work out comparable to the US prices - you have to add shipping + VAT + Import tax to any US price. Fluctuations in currency can make a difference but we have recently dropped our prices inline with the exchange rate trend. I hope that helps. Mark EDIT PS - The handles on the top have now been recessed to allow micro amps to sit on the top more easily.
 16.
Some may have read, i was upgrading my CS Jazz..I went to Bass Direct a bought some Nordstrand NJ4SE's and a Creation Audio 'Redeemer active cicuit.. Installed them yesterday (with NO routinginvolved )and put some DR Fat beams on it...Now im not one for over exaggerating things, but i sxxt you not, i just can not believe how good this bass now sounds!! I cant imagine any other jazz bass to sound as good as this does...The combo of the Nordys and the active circuit has just lifted the natural tone of it into something very special.. The clarity is just superb and really really punchy with a lovely warmth and the attack is awsome....i can play a note and it will sustain for over a minute!!..harmonics just ring and ring...the great thing is it still sounds exactly like my jazz bass but just way better..no brittleness or harshness, just smooth crisp tone..(i guess this may be somewhat due to the Nordy's..it seems to have tuned it from a semi clumsy sounding to, into super precise.. the active circuit is marvelous and lets you still retain the same sound with zero colouring..it just seems bring the best out of every aspect of the tone, right the way up the fretboard..Those with bad technique beware, it will show.. this was all through a Beyringer 90 watt amp!!!..god know how good it will be through the Aguilar.. I highly recommend this combo if you want to upgrade your jazz or any other passive bass..i was having doubts as to mess around with the bass, but now im so glad i did... Thanks for tip Mark!!
You are welcome - I think that the Redeemer is a very effective tool for releasing the passive basses pickup response and with the new Nordstrand pickups and a new set of Fat Beams you have really given your lovely bass a make over. "Pimp your bass" without the alloy wheels ;-) Mark
 17. Bubinga5 - It was good to see you on Saturday, I hope you have managed to get your pickups and the Redeemer circuit in okay without causing yourself too much harm ;-) For the record, I like Aguilar and my comment should not be taken too seriously and was in no way meant top slight the product - I like the cabs but cannot stock everything, the ones I have had in to sell for customers have been excellent! Regards Mark
 18.
I use an Overwater strap, now about 6 years old, with an elastic section at the neck end. Rather like the Comfort Straps, but without the reputation for breaking!
Hi all - I have been selling Comfort Strapps for the past three years and as far as I am aware non have failed that I have supplied. There are a couple of copies available that seem to be inferior from what I have seen. The Comfort Strapp is a patented product and some of the copies infringe this copyright. If you have purchased a Comfort Strapp from Bass Direct that has failed please let me know as I will replace it - providing you return the strapp to me with proof of purchase from Bass Direct. The Mono straps are stiffer and the ends are more suited for strap locks IMO. M PS I have used my Comfort Strapp for 4 years and it has done hundreds of gigs and still looks like new!
 19. Yep - this is a brave move by MB IMO. The options are very cool and although the amp specs have changed a little; 250/500/600/800w, the idea is excellent. Some will prefer the single "ready to go" amp heads, but the fact you can put together what you want plus the advantage of having easy to change options makes this very user friendly. I get my tower for the shop in June and can't wait :-) Mark
 20. All the best Nick, catch you soon MARK
 21. Wow - another beauty from WT. Nice bass Mark, there is something very special about these basses, they feel incredible to play and it is nice that we managed to get this custom model for you. PS - Thanks for being patient :-) Mark
 22.
It was a pretty hectic but enjoyable day ! Really loved chatting to people and hearing some great equipment. Here's a few of pics from the afternoon.. Bass Direct stand Basses ! Wood & Tronics Spectrum into a Genz Benz 3.0 10T Combo + Bergantino AE112. Lots of people ! Ped trying his Vigier through the MarkBass F1. BigRedX, Urb and Ped discussing the finer points of the Bergantino IP112.
Wow - you guys were busy!!! I wish I had been there it looks like you had some fun
 23.
Can i ask if anyone thinks its worth putting some under our PA sub? We often have to have the PA on stage and have recently got a Peavey Powered sub. Seems very loud on these boomy stages. Cheers.
Simply put - Yes. These are designed for any speaker cabinet and are ideal for bass bins. They will give you a more focussed sound by isolating the speaker from the floor and reducing sympathetic vibrations etc. Mark
 24. OMG I never realised I shared my birthday with Mr King!! Mark
 25.
Excellent film, Took ages to get time for us to go 9as our son didn't want to see it "it's a giirrrllllsss film" he claimed. I laughed all the way through. There's so many tongues in cheeks .. Mind you Julie Waters looked rather too much like Garry Glitter in some scenes ... The Abba songs are really well written with terrific words and tunes, arrangements.. What's not to like? oh yeah the clothes well listen with your eyes closed then .. Oh and yes the bass playing was great - and great to hear it on big cinema speakers ...
Agreed - a very enjoyable film ( I thought I would hate it! ). There are some great bass lines in the ABBA repertoire (yes I do play a couple myself and they go down a storm). Good quality cheese with some good laughs thrown in for good measure! Mark
