1.
Any recommendations for a decent, cheapish, stand for a jazz bass? I've had a couple of near misses recently, left the bass propped up against the side of the sofa, only to hear the thud of the headstock hitting the wall a couple of minutes later.
My Jazz is on an Argos special stand. Does the job and folds ups. Not the smallest but only cheapy and quite steady.
2.
IIRC, Number6 bought one and found it flimsy and not fit for purpose. I've had a Hercules Mini, but the bass is held at too shallow an angle and thus takes up too much stage room, which defeats the object of a small-footprint stand. I'd buy a bog-standard generic folding A-frame type stand. Not too much of a pain to carry but will hold your bass securely and is relatively compact. Can be got for less than a tenner. A small stand is likely to be less secure than a larger one.
These are basically ideal for P shape bodies at home or as a stage stand. Mine has done okay but they are no good at all if the shape of the bass is in anyway not symetrical.
3. Plum is the worst jam i've ever had whereas i quite like quince jam.
4. Nick the drummer and go and form another band
5. I'd imagine there are "Pros" that couldn't be Pro and "Amateurs" that could be Pro. If you know what i'm saying.
6. I'm not sure i've had it yet. I did have a 2x15 cab when i was 16 yrs old but the very thought of it nowadays makes my back hurt. I do also wish i had my very early MiJ Squier Jazz bass still which i sold when i was skint once
7. I thought you was going to say you forgot where you put the parcel.....
8. Would it be fair to say that everyone who has replied to this thread lives in the West? #JustSaying
9. Try to book a gig as local to that pub as possible then leaflet outside his boozer. I won't swear by trying to mask the letters with symbols resembling the letters so i'll just use fullstops. .... em!
10. I wonder how many raffles are run up and down the country without having a gaming licence? Quite a few i'd imagine.
11. I have a slow build up of GAS for a Guild Starfire II but there is no rush at this moment in time.
12. Let your fingernails grow a bit then you will have finger picks. Sorted 👍
13. Zoom B2 is pretty much indestructible. On my pedal board i have: Digitech Bass Synth Wah - EHX Log OD - EHX Big Muff - Toadworks Meat - Akai Flanger - Akai Phase Shifter - Digitech Bass Chorus. All fairly cheap pedals. I use the Zoom live for Delay / Reverb and tuner.
14. Yes - Thank you 👍
15. I would have thought that protection from damp is the main issue. Perhaps wrapping the equipment in tarpaulins etc and raising it off the floor on something like pallets would assist. Wrapping should help if there is frost.
16. Just say noted.....
17. Why has it taken so long for a search to be arranged for this bass? Did the band it was lent to pinch it? Was it stolen from the gig?
18. I'm 44 and arthritis is in my neck and shoulders That said i am hoping to put in more practice and learning and aim for a gig a month at least.....
19. Truly saddened RIP Lemmy.....Rock n Roll Legend!
20. I have one on my pedal board which i use regularly. I use it at the start of my signal chain and it can produce some great sounds for 30 quid.
21.
As far as I know the grey colour used on that bass was just grey primer. I saw OMD on one of their first tours, they were astonishingly loud.
In the vids i've seen the grey is fairly shiny so if it's just primer it may have been polished too?
22. Looks like your new singer has decided you're getting a new sax player and will come up with a set list. Who will she out next? Just saying
23.
I like both. Maybe do a cross genre - Death Hair Metal.
It could become a whole metal gender..... Transmetal? 😄
24. Are Venom death metal, black metal or thrash metal? Anyway i like early Venom.
25. Does this band have folding bread on their rider? I don't want to tour some cranky university town that doesn't have folding bread! Luckily i'm a professional and i rise above these things.....
