1.
They have a proper shop. They're generally open 10am - 6pm. They also have basses and amps you can try out too. I have no invested interest/connection etc. Just my local shop. They're near Tescos and behind "The Range". You could take your bass and compare the tuners. They also have a luthier guy there some of the time.
I went to gig gear Harlow today. Superb customer service and they even commented on my Hawkwind t-shirt šŸ‘ Will definitely use them again. 6
2. Can we stick to the topic of Fender Schmender please!
3. I am not of'Fender'ed by anything that you have posted. Forums are all about lively debate imo šŸ‘
4. From memory this is a Starfire modified for Phil Lesh by Alembic..... But it is imho iconic to Lesh and the GD.
5. I find it's a case of listen, listen and listen again. Over time your ear will become more attuned to picking out the basslines.
6. Bass Centre are selling them for 79 quid.
7. Nice doing business with you donslow šŸ‘šŸ‘
8. Alembic Shmembic! Apart from Phil Lesh' steal your face bass šŸ˜‰
9. I used to like sideboards..... Never owned a Wal and unlikely to based mainly on price and if i'm honest i don't really know much about them. I like Marmite and i hate using any kind of wood preservative including Cuprinol. 6
10. An "if you part out expression of interest in the Grovers" type bump.
11.
Nina's playing was exquisite. - tasteful, always fitting in with what the rest of the band were playing, incredible timing, and then pulling out the most incredible blistering solos, all the time making it look effortlessly easy. Actually, the whole band were this good - Arthur certainly knows how to find a great bunch of musicians - definitely not your average 'backing band'.
Nina watches all of the rest of the band throughout her playing to ensure she knows what all the other musicians are doing at all times. Her playing was perfect!
12. I have the exact same bass.....imho they are excellent!! Nice choice šŸ˜Š
13.
Well, I requested and Barry Moorhouse delivered, so I would ask them! Love the avatar by the way - bit of a Patrick McGoohan fan!
Thank you..... I'm an avid Prisoner nerd šŸ˜Š NĀ°6
14. I really would consider a Mix n Match Bass Collection. I have a a scheme in mind. Are the Bass Centre doing these for anyone that requests them now?
15. Cool thank you šŸ˜Š
16.
Yes, I got some cheap ones from Gig Gear in Harlow. They were about Ā£14-15.
Thanks.....are they only online or do they have a shop please? (I'm only up the road a bit in E London).
17. Hi BC, I know that Hipshot do HB7 tuning machines as a direct fitment replacement for MIM/Squier basses. Do any other manufacturers i.e. Schaller or Gotoh do the same? Thanks BC'ers šŸ˜Š
18. Saw him last week at the Borderline in London.....great music and masses of energy. How did you like Electric Cake Salad? Seen them a few times to. Good band šŸ‘ P.S. Arthurs bass player is Jevons Beaumont and i agree he is excellent.
19. I'm even considering a black P with mirror pickguard.....
20. I have never liked any of the bands BS has been in.....just never been grasped by their music.
21. These first world dilemmas.....
22. Did this bass disappear?
23. No no no.....it is a gauge of different thickness metal normally graduated in thousanth parts of an inch and mm used for the purposes of measurement.
24. I do it for the love of it because i rarely make any Ā£Ā£s out of it.
