1.
I missed this... yes, that is possible I suppose. I'll do a bit more research. This mark has been bugging me for years. I wonder if it's worth sending a picture of it to Fender? They must have some idea of how it got there. Has anyone ever seen anything like it on any other bass?
Could it be the start of a knot forming in the wood at the time the tree was felled?
2. I hope you can make some progress on tracking down this bass. After all this time it is likely to be very difficult but nevertheless it's out there somewhere so good luck with the search.
3. Nice looking bass enjoy 👍 ☺
4. I prefer to put my own dents in my basses and mostly try to avoid it all together. Send it back imo.
5.
I suppose you could give it a quick wipe over with a very mild detergent solution just to get the clag and goit off it. But clag and goit are where its at as far as I'm concerned... pull through with oily rag..?
I'm in the James Jamerson school of thought on this.....the gunk holds the funk! Plus i'm lazy
6.
Good work. You can't beat white and maple! And a tone control!
Yep white n maple is the way to go..... And what do you need a tone control for
7. Firstly you'd be potty to flog the Hayman as they're becoming rarer than the proverbial rocking horse excretia and Secondly when can we expect the first gig with the reunited bass?
8. That's cool.....i like the pearl pick guard
9.
Will you play it with the ashtrays on?
My bet is bridge cover only
10. That is not only a lovely looking bass but a cool story too and i'm very pleased that you've got it back. Oh and seeing the pickup and bridge cover just makes me want to fit them on my mine. Enjoy ☺
11. I never find such bargains..... Nice one.....enjoy
12. Maybe add a neck mudbucker at a later stage ala Billy Sheehan?
13. I find the tutorials very useful. When i started learning bass originally the internet didn't exist so things like YouTube have made learning a lot more accessible. I do wish with some tutorials that they would break down the fingering patterns in a slower format before playing at the correct tempo but on the whole a very useful tool. I do always try to learn the piece by ear first but can't always get it from listening to the track. 6
14. That's cool.....love it!
15. I think i would peruse the bass as a highly crafted instrument looking at all of the fine detailing. Inwardly i would take gratification from the fact that i bought a bass i am very happy with for 10 1/2 grand less. ☺
16. Mind you that timber looks good with the clear coat
17. I could write a good song out of that
18. Normally something by J.S. Bach.....in an Entwistle / Sheehan stylee Yeah right 😂
19. Cool to watch the strings oscillate (if indeed that is the correct term)
20.
I've just discovered I'm a P guy playing a gig. Got a 5 string VM P-Bass and that's not enough, getting a Mexican fender when I can though and going to add a Steve Harris pickup to it. SO I can have my own Arry model without the name. What sort of strings do you guys like on your P basses?
You can get Rotosound Steve Harris signature flatwounds too..... btw i like your CAR 5 string P.S. i'll be changing mine to flatwounds soon
21.
You have one nice looking Precision there Number6. Best of playing with it.
Thank you.....i'm loving it and can't wait to rehearse and gig with it.
22. I hope it works and i hope you take it to the Underworld because i want to come along and see it in the flesh in all it's Demonic glory.....
23. I reckon the paint has dried in the last year.....has there been any progress?
24. Totally agree a very difficult song to listen too in it's entirety but there's a part of me that wishes that more high profile bands had music highlighting subjects as rape ànd domestic violence. The impact of this particular song is immense.
25.
Thanks to this thread in off down the local music shop to try some tomorrow! Like the look of lake placid blue myself
Good stuff.....just what i like to hear Obviously it isn't my fault but everyone elses lol
