1. I quite like that.....
2. Sometimes you have to ensure you won't get asked back and you employed those methods admirably.....for that i applaud you 👏
3. Use Servisol 10 switch cleaner.
4.
If it works then the technique is not "Bad"..... Music is art, there are no rules.
Absolutely 👍👍
5. That's a very nicely crafted collection of woods, metals and plastic
6. Love it 👍 nice one 😊
7.
I don't believe in bad or good technique. Everyone has a different approach and whatever works, works. All that really matters is if you sound great and are comfortable IMO.
Yep 👍
8. If Fodera charge 11 Grand i wonder how much Seasick Steve can knock a bass up for.....?
9.
The people who wrote the textbook I guess....
Those pesky academic musical technique dictators!
10. And who decided what textbook is anyway?
11. A decent suede backed strap sorts out most neck divers imho so perhaps try that.
12.
The sound from the Fidelitron didn't wow me (sounded pretty good in isolation (in the guitar shop) but a bit meh when the rest of the band waded in), but that's just personal preference. I don't really understand why you would say that. Why would a standard P be any more or less versatile than a Cabronita? They've both got one pickup, one volume control and one passive treble cut tone control. The basic sound coming out of it will be different because of the change in pickup but apart from that, it's the same. It just comes down to which pickup you prefer the sound of, I guess.
Yep understood.....i should have included that i'm considering for future modifications.
13.
I would also refute the allegation that the Jack Casady is "limited". OK, so it only has one pickup, but it has a three position varitone which switches in a choke coil at various points. The numbers on the switch are 50, 250, 500 - I have no idea what that means electronically but soundwise it comes out as "polite", "irritated" and "angry" Three different "voices" in addition to a tone control - I wouldn't call that "limited". It's also super light, so great for people with bad backs, bad shoulders, or stupid fools who bruise their ribs days before back to back gigs the same night... I recently sold mine to free up some funds, but when I'm flush again I will definitely get another (I had a gold top but it looks well tasty in white...) I had a Cabronita, played it for a while, then sold it on. I liked the look of it, it was nice, but not nice enough or interesting enough to keep. Can't comment on the Ibanez, but they seem to attract little in the way of derision or mockery on here, so I'm guessing they make good, solid gear in a quiet, Yamaha-y kind of way.
Would you say the sound from the Cabronita pup was fairly limited then? I really like the look but clearly a standard P seems more versatile.
14.
Pole pieces.
A drop of black nail varnish or a permanent marker to take the blackness to 11
15. The question has to be asked.....how much more black could this be? The answer is none more black.
16. Has anyone tried a Cabronita? I like the looks but wondered if the fidelitron or whatever it's called is very limited for sounds.
17.
I cannot find the article I read only yesterday from a studio sound engineer going all scientific on me and saying special kit was needed etc etc, but I did read it, honest. :-) My question really arose out of the fact some of the sellers on here appear to be going back to 4s as they are struggling. My only complaint with mine is the low tension strings so I may put flat wounds on it. I am used to those on my P bass, my main player at the moment.
If you go to off topic there's a thread about how good/bad is your memory hehehe
18.
Yes I think I am going to be selling quite a few of my Basses on the forum shortly and this will be one of them! Will.
I shall keep an eye out.....you never know i may just be able to muster some coinage of the realm
19. I'm gradually adjusting to mine and it's definitely worth persevering. I went from short scale 4's the a 5 so i don't know if that's what put me out of sync but i'm getting the hang of it slowly but surely.
20.
Consider my Knuckles rapped for not posting photos -- I will see what I can do, Although you could always buy my Pelham Blue Les Paul DC Jr. and post some piccy's Will.
Haha indeed i could.....does that mean you're edging closer to selling?
21. And to think that these haven't been shown off in 'Gear Porn' show us your short scales 😨
22.
What's different about your neck of the woods? Everybody else is struggling for gigs. Blue
Nothing really different Blue. The band know a few different local promotors who always keeps us in mind if they're looking to put a line up together. The promotors look after around 6-10 venues. We aren't expensive but tend to put together small groupings of gigs over a Fri, Sat and sometimes Sunday. I believe we are perceived by the promo lot to be pro enough to deliver the goods to a price and on time. Nothing more than that really.
23. Yes it's a lovely bright and breezy day and i for one would like to extend courtesy and felicitations to all my BC Sisters and Brothers ☺
24.
I had an audition with a preposterously loud band yesterday and I was the only one wearing ear plugs as usual... have done since I first started in bands when I was 13.
Preposterously Loud Band is a good name for a band
