1.
A 4001 year Rick - the clues are all there in front of us.
It's all becoming clear. Especially the various components that have been constructed into the disfigured profile that is the Rickenbacker. Almost as though some mad and evil surgeon had sewn the parts together from other perfectly good instruments just to see what would happen.....
2.
I couldn't possibly comment, but the best one I ever played was in Argentina...
So we may see the re emergence of a 1000 year Rick?
3.
I feel I should point out in the interests of fairness that Adolf Rickenbacher was in fact Swiss, and as we all know the Swiss did nothing terrible in the war, they just looked after stolen stuff for the people who did....
Does that mean all the good Rickenbackers' are hidden in secret cache bunkers in neutral countries?
4.
They did inherit their dislike of free speech & dissent though...
Perhaps each instrument is built whilst listening to the works of Wagner?
5. This is a lovely piece of kit.....i am so surprised it hasn't sold yet.....
6. Eddie Hitler?
7. Nice one Truckstop 👍👍
8.
Is that the thing that you wrap round the nut to dampen open strings?
Not quite but this isn't the forum to discuss that
9. Is there not a BC Gulag?
10.
Has anyone recommended Bell Percussion Studios in Acton yet? Excellent, very new facilities. http://www.bellperc.com/studios (I'm not connected in any way except as a neighbour; I was invited purely by chance to their opening party a couple of months ago and saw the rooms and the equipment with my own eyes and camera.)
A bit too far to travel to regularly but i work a lot near Acton and Bollo Lane so may take a look.
11. Harvey Bainbridge - Hawkwind Now plays Synth / Keys for Hawklords.....he told my brother he doesn't even own a bass anymore.
12. Split 3 ways. We use a rehearsal room with a full decent backline so no need to hire anything.
13. I have read this thread and once worshipped at the Altar of the mighty Ric.....i hearby now renounce my following of this deity and turn my back on it, indeed i call upon Bronner to gather a mighty army from across Rock and Rolldom to embark on a Crusade to eradicate the evil Ric from our World.
14. We just use the studio gear which to be fair bass wise is certainly better than my rig as its Ampeg 8×10 and usually SVT heads. My rig is lightweight but i'm still not lugging on the Tube across London.
15. Oh man we really are losing some of my heroes this week
16. Yeah Storm's equipment is all very good. All the rooms have Ampeg 8×10 but not all rooms have SVT's.....nevertheless a good studio imho. They have decent PA's and always have a tidy up before you get there oh and the toilets are decent and clean. 3 hours from 6.15pm to 9.15pm costs us £45
17.
We use Storm rehearsals on the Holloway Road good equipment clean as well, before that we used Enterprise!
We use Storm too at Holloway Rd.....pretty good but does get some noise problems at times from the railway lines.
18.
Used famous rooms near London Bridge for a while until we realised we really didn't need a 48-channel desk and a Turbo PA... now using a nice room under railway arches in East London which is perfect for our needs. Good, basic kit and great sound (when there are no trains running overhead...) When I was in a touring band back in the day we used John Henry's in north London which is excellent... trouble is there is every conceivable bit of kit you can possibly imagine in a huge warehouse there, and it's all for sale or hire... GAS! GAS! GAS!!
Where is the arch in East London please?.....i travel to Holloway Road to rehearse.
19. I feel you have to be up front and tell him that his teaching style doesn't fit with you and unless he can adapt it to fit you the student you won't be back. It's not about being confrontational or anything just assertive. Teachers need and should be dynamic and adapt to the student.
20. Last rehearsal before our gig Friday (we only gig now and again) and we seemed to get the songs together okay. Only tomorrow night will tell but i will enjoy it anyway.....life's too short not too 😆
21. Hah! Posting pics like that doesn't help my wavering resolve to spend on an SG.....lovely btw
22. Clearly this bass has built in Radar
23. I can only just about play bass so i hope not.
24.
Hobbyist here
Same for me and i don't rate my ability at all. Nevertheless i still quite enjoy playing.
