3. I hear there's a new Venom album out.....any good?
 4.
Call yourself The Master Of The Universe? Pah!
We're more your Psychedelic Warlords disappear in smoke..... 😆
 5. Not sure there are any new metal bands.....i'm a little out of touch but really cannot think of a 'New' band in the genre.
 6. Bump for a Tim Blake or indeed a Dead Fred
 7. Yeah i want a trem too and like the above post am not too concerned about the top woods.
 8.
I really don't know number6 maybe 5 stringer and nice combo perhaps I don't enjoy it anymore
I like my shortscale basses both of which are only cheapies and i recently bought a Yam 5 string which certainly helps getting the dexterity and brain ticking over so that may be the way to go. I generally don't buy expensive gear as i think the quality of the low end instruments out there still out weigh my ability so that shouldn't be an issue. You clearly need a catalyst to reignite your enthusiasm.
 9. So when you flog it all what then?
 10. Liked 👍
 11. On his wikipedia page that he died in his sleep. ALS or Motor Neurone Disease in our terms. Terrible RIP
 12.
I'd lock the other basses away tbh, the only to get the confidence to gig with it will be, well, to gig with it! Yes you will make mistakes but it's the only way imo, I locked my 4s away and just sold them all in the end!
I know i need to just concentrate on the 5 but my 4 strings are my short scales which i love and they're only both cheapies but i think i'd have to keep them. After my gig next Friday i will put the shorties in their gig bags and just have the 5 on the stand. I do like playing it which i'm really pleased about so with a bit more effort i can hopefully progress with the Yam 👍
 13.
Might be worth a look (if you aint seen it of course). http://basschat.co.uk/topic/257133-nbd-jd-mini-jazz-bass-surf-green/
Thanks Jim i may take a look as their Romford store isn't that far from me. 👍
 14.
Beware the lack of definition with a proper mudbucker. The Mikey Way is a a tame humbucker which to be honest suits it better.
Fair point on the mudbucker. I think the body on those is routed for a few variations so there are options. Mustangs are a popular little modification bass and with that body colour the pickup configuration should be loud too
 15.
Just picked up a used Mikey Way mustang for £149. Came with flats which I don't think suited the humbucker. Restoring with fender roundwounds has done the trick.
How is the humbucker in those? I have been tempted to get one and maybe swap out the pup for a big dimarzio mudbucker
 16. I had a practice on my Yam TRBX305 last night and i'm loving it more and more...need more time to get used to it for gigs but that's the fault of my brain and coordination and definitely not the bass which is top drawer for the money.
 17. Nice bass! Haha those Wunjo Super Villains know how to tempt people into that shop..... They also know which of us pass by on a regular basis.....dastardly evil geniuses! Enjoy 👍
 18. When i'm in writing mode I read poetry, i watch factual tv as well as reading fiction all amongst just living day to day life and i carry a notepad and pen about with me and sometimes a dictaphone (but you can look a right tw*t talking into it) and i just note things that sound good. Phrases, words, occurrences or places etc..... Seems to get me material that i then have to just edit.
 19.
Not too good. Everyone bar me rates the drummer. He's from a jazz background, has excellent timing and is very competent around the top of the kit. BUT, he doesn't us the bass drum properly - no oomph and nothing to dial into. He's too busy doing twiddly bits on the cymbals. Feels as if he's playing along half the time. Could be time to hand in my notice.
Discuss it with him first.....you've got nothing to lose and you will at least have tried diplomacy first.
 20. Surely the best way to get this gig is to send your business card.....
 21.
Some news here. When I bought my Starfire it came in a gig bag. There should've been a hard case, but they were missing due to Fender pulling out of Guild distribution. I had a call from Tom at Wunjo today, Guild have a new distributor and I have a new hard case for my Starfire! How cool is that? What a great blinking shop Wunjo is!
Nice one Wunjo.....i genuinely believe they have the best customer service anywhere!
 22.
Ah yes, the so-called 'non-image' - it's very popular...
String isn't that easy to obtain nowadays so perhaps blue nylon rope is psychedelic enough?
 23.
And still alive, presumably...
I felt the post implied that but it is a close run thing 😨
 24.
And for some musicians only the money is important, which is clearly incompatible with psychedelic rock. Man. Not sure about the hair requirement, from what I remember of the era 50% of the bassists wore woolly hats. Like this bloke:
I can relate to this picture.....well the long hair and hat anyway except i am older and fatter 😐
 25. Rehearsing Monday and Wednesday next week with a gig Friday.....my back will be cream crackered!
