Just reviving this thread i noticed on the Yamaha London website that Billy Sheehan is doing a bass clinic on the 6th March at the shop in Wardour St.....tickets need to be booked on their website. Just in case anyone is interested

Interestingly i got my band together because i had health issues. I needed something to focus my mind on and divert attention away from dwelling on health matters. We are never going to be prolific giggers but we do gig and when i'm not feeling too great i do pick up the bass to practice and write riffs. I had a long break from music and prior to this was in a band that just rehearsed rehearsed rehearsed and did a handful of gigs which put me off.

I use a combination of the Zoom B2 and three pedals.....Bass Synth, Chorus and Phaser.....my whole effects setup cost me about £150. The Zoom sounds good for a multi effect but isn't the best for impromtu live work.

Why, Why, Why can't I find a drummer!?

I have been lucky.....the drummer in every band i've been in has been my brother. No i don't have lots of siblings we've just always formed our bands together. Now finding a Synth / Keyboardist that's a nightmare -
Just a wee bit of tie dye.....and a dual bass / singist type face 😦

Uncle Sam's on Mars Hawkwind..... He's on Mars right now and did you know he's digging for dreams in the red sand with his bucket and spade in his left hand?
Last night we played at The 100 Club, as main support to Sham 69. The gig sold out, so it was heaving in there. All through our set there was great applause, and people dancing/singing along to the choruses (we write easy to remember choruses for this reason). To finish we played our customary cover, Warhead by The UK Subs. Went amazingly well - the WAGs on the merch stall said the sound of the audience singing along was deafening. OK, not our song, but if they weren`t enjoying us, or we played Warhead badly I doubt they`d have had so much enthusiasm. I`d say it was, in terms of audience size (400) the loudest and best audience reacion I`ve ever had, in any band. After the gig, everwhere I went people were coming up to me, shaking my hand and saying how well we played/how good we were. And when I had to go back to the bass amp to put the settings back to how Shams bassist had them, virtually everyone I passed patted me on the back and said great gig. Must admit, I did find it a bit bewildering that people were that much into it. Not that I don`t have belief in what we do, because I have, but this was another level on appreciation. We sold a fair bit of merchandise too, which considering most people when they came in bought Sham merch, and that it was £25 to get in, was great that they still spent out for us as well. One guy who bought the CD told us he doesn`t even have a CD player, but had to have a copy of our music - we`re going to e-mail him MP3s of the songs. So all in all a fantastic gig, fingers crossed we can get some more there, though given the way the promoters were also saying how much they liked us, I`d hope that was already in the bag.
Great to hear! Imho the 100 Club is one of the best venues in London.
Definitely. I was in a band that spent ages having endless meetings and great long rambling emails that never got anything done. Never again.
Been in one of those.....never again +1
Not that lucky. Remember that band you were in one time with a lady singer who had - er- stubble that you used to wonder about and you got the hump in rehearsal when she asked you to simplify your lines a bit and there was a big shouting match between the two of you and halfway through you realised that you had a half-lob and it all ended up in a hotel room and when she whipped 'em off you realised 'she' was a 'he' but it didn't matter anyway by that stage. Well, that was xilldx. I've never been in a band with you.
I hate it when this happens but in hindsight it's always nice to have anecdotes 😆

There's nothing wrong with pub covers bands as long as they don't use music stands..... 😊
It does look like the headstock has been grafted on... Good job who ever did the work chose something that has so seemlesly blended with the original aesthetics...
I decided not to make an offer 😃
Is it a Marathon neck with a different headstock grafted on?
The neck looked completely out of place to me so a bitsa imo....the neck actually seemed quite good lol.
-
Had a look at the Shergold (yeah right)..... Neck and tuners are interesting.... Neck plate is wonky but has a serial number and the screws look like normal countersunk head woodscrews. Strings are ancient and rusty and body is very light. Original price was £499.00 !!!
Surely you have a selection of cauldrens of varying sizes like any other normal person?
Well i thought i did with the Small Medium and Large but now i'm not so sure?
-
You could always buy it for the neck, detatch it and use it to stir a giant witches cauldren... should you be that way inclined
With that headstock it would need to be a large cauldron 👿
No it isn't. I wonder where it came from. In that case at £300 it's overpriced.
In the area later.....i will investigate 😎
