HARLEY BENTON JAZZ BASS 75 RE, NEW **SOLD***

Nope don't see any mention of dekos on that link Shabbs. Just a link to Toms' post here. Edit Was a bit paranoid I'd somehow marked Toms' bass as a deko but here's my post. It's in England and the £89 includes UK delivery. I've dealt with Tom (the seller) in the past and he's an honest fella who looks after his gear, the JB-75 is just too heavy for him @10lbs. Don't know what other folk might think but I dumped the soapbars out my Zephyr today and added a preamp. Neck pickup sounds throaty and huge. Would quite happy use it for everything. Man alive !! I sound like a guitarist with a new pedal

What about the Bass Collection ones ? Definitely lightweight and narrow necks too. There's one in the classifieds, seller could give you the spacings.

Fantastic. Strangely the Dimensions and Cabronitas are the only Fenders that interest me, I'm too late for the Cabronita party 😀 Congrats on a lovely bass.

A thread on TB said ESP. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/muzz-skillings-living-colour-bass.584678/ Then quickly derailed to Doug Wimbish and Vernon Reid's playing

Bought a Wal JG for £500 in Romford back in 88/89 but had to sell it when I returned to Scotland a year later. Got £250 and a beat up SG. -
3D Printing pickup covers / handmade pickup covers
kodiakblair replied to Dood's topic in Repairs and Technical
Go to http://www.shapeways.com/ It was originally for prototypes and templates but folk are using them for products. Bit pricey for me though. Another thing is if the shape is drawn then saved as .dwf anyone with a laser cutter machine can cut them out. Plenty of free 3D software out there https://www.blender.org/ -
I'd have a word with Cranes Music, pretty certain Hudson is their brand. http://www.cranes.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars/hudson-basses Had the back off my Tanglewood Canyon to see if there was any info on the preamp, they appear very similar basses. Preamp on that uses connector blocks but I'll have to drop the electrics out as it's a very neat job. Must have saved a packet on wiring they're that short If I get time through the week I'll investigate further.

Set of Carvin flats arrived from Nick. Absolute doodle of a purchase,1 email & 1 reply and the deal was done. Cheers Nick.

If you look at the other basses he's selling you'll see the "D" plain as day. They stamp base of the neck or where the neck plate would be. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-5-STRING-BASS-WITH-ACTICE-PICK-UPS-WHITE-/282067187197?hash=item41ac83b5fd:g:GqAAAOSwbYZXWE5G
Is this a British phenomenon?
I believe it may be. Got a bass from Germany couple of weeks back, GLS collected it,had it processed at both local and national depots then delivered to the UK. All within 27 hours , and it was £30 not the £48 I'd been quoted here ! Once here Parcelforce got it and buggered around for 3 days,

There's a line of Peavey flagship basses in front of me while I play a £70 Harley Benton PB-50. Course a SC P-bass is hardly a cutting edge design so £70 bass & tapes does the trick grand. Actually have 2 of them, the other sports TI's and a Peavey Ferrite SC. Not because the Wilkinson is bad but because I had a spare Ferrite ( one with tapes is stock)

Ped There was the B-Quad 5 string. That's the Brian Bromberg bass. Serious bit of kit ! Modulus made graphite neck, mono & stereo output, piezo bridge. Piezos have individual pan for stereo and trim pots. Have the 4 string version myself. Lovely bass and there just happens to be a B-Quad 5 on eBay Italy. http://www.ebay.it/itm/PEAVEY-Bquad-5-string-electric-bass-basso-elettrico-BRIAN-BROMBERG-Model-bajo-/152119734394?ssPageName=ADME%3AL%3ALCA%3AIT%3A1123 They're not cheap, seem to remember they were the most expensive bass Peavey made. Also look at the G-V bass. Never had the neck off my again 4 string version so not sure it's 100% graphite. I imagine it is though if G stands for graphite

@Twincam It's about 25-30 mile. Want me to see if he's still got it ? I saw them advertised in Guitarist mag early 80 and labeled it a fad, like the Hipshot D-tuner & Badass bridge. It's OK I'm not a betting man £20 back then rings a bell. Can't have taken off and patent must have expired cause Peavey have a similar thing on the new Milestones only it's called "Powerplate" Sod sustain,it's for guitar players when they hit the right note.

I remember these from years back. Don't remember anybody using them though https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/fathead-brass-sustain-plate-for-fender-jazz-precision-basses/1173389224
If all of them were killed in a bus crash tomorrow I don't think the world of music would pine for them.
True but I fear there's more waiting in the wings. -

Another set of flats coming from Dan. Easy fella to deal with. He lists stuff I want,I pay and he sends it out pronto Doesn't get much easier than that edit Dan texted me Thursday morning saying strings were on the way. Saturday the wee lassie from My Hermes handed them over. Didn't I say it was easy !!
