Spotted this on bassic.ch http://www.bassic.ch...eilen.14862113/ Fella knows his market, reduced rate for juvenile punk rockers. Might have to contact him for the F**ker J*zz decal

It's not so much the game has changed just an example of Scott contracting a Chinese factory to build for a realistic price. Chinese companies build to set unit prices so if they're told £25 is the limit then corners get cut. When Western companies then sell those for £300+ any faults get blamed on the Chinese not on the real culprit. For some firms this is a deliberate business decision as it makes their other models look better. More power to Scott for doing things right. Quite a few UK firms do the same,Chowny,Revelation & Retrovibe for example. If £450 is all it cost you to have a bass just as you want it, well congratulations are in order. Great to hear from a happy SWB-1 owner as I wish Scott every success with his venture.

Bloody Hell. Nothing else I can say.

Peavey built them from scratch and were the first company to use CNC back in 78. Stopped building basses in the States July 2010. Composite Acoustics still are being built there though. When they first moved to overseas it was Korea then Vietnam,Indonesia then China. The designers and engineers like Mike Power's moved too.

Peavey's is never a bad thing Chris :-)

@JohnFitzgerald That'll be young Jono Bolton's. Aye, I mind being in touch with him when he was putting it together. Two Foundations with Super Ferrites and two 90's Foundations with the soapbar style pickups myself so i've no need for a fifth one. He should put 3 knobs on it so it's complete. Poor guy's had it listed for months. @3below No argument from me regarding the Far East Peaveys. Excellent basses, stock pickups output a wee bit low on my Milestone III but that's an easy fix to a lovely wee bass, got a crazy low action on the Indonesian Millennium and you can get BXP Cirrus for £200. Some of the Americans on TB give the BXP/EXP a hard time but they're made in Asia so that's expected Like you say " What's not to like "

I keep an eye out for any Peaveys up for sale and the most common ones are Furys,Foundations & T-40's. Generally prices are £100 - £200 for Furys & Foundations, with Furys nearer the £100 end. T-40's hover around £450. Dyna basses are about the £250 mark along with Patriots. T-20's I've saw for the same on the rare occassion they appear. I've more Cirrus than Millenniums for sale in the UK but I think it's just there were more Cirrus sold.Cirrus £600 and upwards, last Millennium I remember went for £250 on eBay. Had a dodgy preamp though, probably came from the Peavey UK closure sell off. Rarely seen models like TL's & Sarzo's again see the £500 - £600 mark. I probably could have haggled the B-Quad down a bit but since I'd only saw 3 for sale in 3 year I just jumped at the chance. The problem with USA Peaveys as I see it was Hartley's idea of great instruments at affordable prices got skewed to Americans playing a Peavey because they couldn't afford Fender. That stigma stuck, T-40's had far more features than late 70's Fenders but sell for less than MIJ Fenders from the 90's. Great basses that always offered that wee bit more, sadly just never won the marketing war. Do yourself a favour and get one. Before I buy them all

worst amp you have owned or had the luck to use
kodiakblair replied to stu_g's topic in Amps and Cabs
In a bout of nostalgia last month I bought a Carlsbro Stingray head ( black & green ). Not the best amp but certainly not the worst. At £45 it was a must have. Pretty certain my old Stingray combo is still living in some lassie's spare room, hoping to get that back sometime. -
@alyctes Sent a PM couple of days back cause I wasn't sure about the rules on values Recommended at least £650 - £700 but the Peavey market is always a strange one
I've been using one at home for the past few weeks - didn't realise that a having a cable under your feet was a problem until it wasn't anymore...
Did the exact same. There was less than 6' x 6' floor space after couches etc in the old living room so I got the £40 t.bone. Major improvement. -
Was a failed trip to Maplin. Thought I'd just get a new connector block in case the jaws got damaged. Nothing in stock, not even knobs for the pots. Thanks for the Stanley blade tip Zombie. Course I'd ordered a punch down tool by the time I'd saw it

Thanks MoonBassAlpha. I'll be taking a trip to Maplin then .

Finally decided to fix the project Tune Bass Maniac I've had for a year. It doesn't use solder for the most part but a punch down connection block like telephones. At the bottom of each slot there's a small hole,do I strip a wee bit off the cable before inserting it into the hole or do the jaws in the slots slice the covering on the cable ? Or do I go in from the top and bend the wire into the jaws ? Seem to remember that's how it works with phones. Any pointers and corrections to my terminology greatly appreciated. KB

worst amp you have owned or had the luck to use

No mention yet of the 50 watt Kay combo I bought from the catalogue. Can't remember it being up to much but was a big improvement from playing through the music centre tape deck Fond memories of the Carlsbro Stingray though it was a bit ungainly lugging on and off Edinburgh buses.Sometimes mistaken for a "washing machine" it doubled as the sound system at several drunken parties. -
Got a set of tuners from Jon. Purchase was a breeze. Hope to deal with him again in the future. Cheers KB

UPS will take a bass in a hardcase no problem in fact I sent 3 basses to Spain in the big Thomann cardboard box for £40,took 4 days to get there. Use a courier broker like Interparcel. They're cheaper and allow more options like choice of courier, delivery times and even collection windows. Insurance is 2% per £100. I've used UPS through Interparcel many times for both home and abroad without a glitch.

Definitely a pale blue on my screen. Never owned a pale blue bass so I better avoid this thread
