  1. Nice an easy job there Mark You'll have it up and running in no time,I hear you're playing it at a gig next week
  2. Alice Cooper a few Halloweens back in Edinburgh . Remember it well cause I'd shot a 4" nail through my left index and middle fingers that morning
  3. Did anybody see the salesman model on eBay this week ? 0000000 serial number, think there was 6 or 8 of them built. The salesreps had them to convince shops to stock the T series. Any way one of those memorabilia shops had T-40 and T-60,split new unplayed, perfect knick cases but the neck needed adjusting. Probably never been touched since it left the factory early 78 Asking price was $1000 an it sold for $1000. Sad eh,to think any old beat to hell Fender will sell for a damn sight more than £647. Glad I never based my retirement plan on selling my Peaveys
  4. Yupe very nice indeed. Price being itemised is a good idea, Status Hot Wire nylons icing on the cake But I've got to move house end of the year and can only offer GLWTS
  5. No idea Rob and no photos either. Got it from Monkey Business in Romford around 88. Course they're long gone too.
  6. @DorsetBlue Normally I have payment pending until the bass is delivered, always thought it was in case I canceled the order.
  7. Ah to be honest Rob the chances of me still having it would be slim to nil. What bothers me most is it's dropped off the map, I asked the owners group a few years back for some info. They knew who had 37 of them but mine was one of the missing ones.
  8. What's to be said. The T series were introduced as competition for the other two big players, Hartley Peavey had heard Fender were putting pressure on his dealers " If you don't stock our amplifiers we won't supply you with guitars !! " so the plan was design guitars and basses with more features and lower cost. There was an ad run showing a Strat, Les Paul I think and a T-60. All with their prices showing and just one word " WHY ". The T-60 was at least $100 cheaper Your T-20 dropped the fancy electrics to go head to head with the P bass,a job it does great. 83 Fender Japan and Squier Japan are costing a pretty penny these days, your's is ideal for all those 30-somethings wanting a birth year bass or the discerning type looking for the uncommon look but delivers the goods. There you have my biased view on the T-20
  9. Doc Stingray & Rob Afraid I've got it worse cause I'd like my JG back. Normally I convince myself I don't mind selling it,other times who the hell am I trying to kid
  10. Garry The T 20 was Peaveys answer to the P bass,Normally lighter than the T-40,mines weighs 9lb, but the same robust build quality. The controls are simple like the bass it was to compete with,no turn to 7 for single coil like the T-40 just tone and volume. Great neck too quite a shallow profile 21mm at 3rd and 24 at 12th. 44mm wide at the nut. Won't say any more as I'm kinda biased
  11. There was a problem with Nexus packaging, the company supplying the envelopes changed the paper to one holding moisture. This got sorted out a while back but could explain why some folk found Nexus dull or dead. I was looking for Black Beauties but the owner of Ayr Guitars pushed me in the direction of his Wal strung with Nexus and told me to play it and see for myself. Now using Nexus on a couple of basses. I must add super bright RWs are not my thing.
  12. Over on TalkBass there was a thread about Peavey having lost their way. Before leaping to their defense I checked the site. Very disappointed with the state of Peavey today, been impressed by the few bits of Berhinger I've got though.
  13. AT My money would be going to Revelation and I wouldn't think twice. I was thinking in my earlier thread ( £50 is too much ) about the more common brands that sell 1000s every week. I really don't want to be naming brands , Today I saw a bog standard jazz bass for £220 RRP was £350,this was by a well known company who now get their basses made in China. My deko jazz was £33. Course I'm not thinking factory-agent-distributor-shop,they all need to make a profit too so I suppose £220 is about right. This is what I get for idle thought
  14. Just saw Aquila do a 5 string set E - B. Maybe losing the E and tuning the B up to C would work for Ghost_Bass.
  15. They are that Jack. I think I'd need to cut them shorter too but when I felt the tension change dramatically I called it quits. I had visions of the bridge coming off.
  16. @Ghost_Bass I would dearly love to help you, having one of the Harley Benton bass ukes to hand I tried tuning up to ADGC. Started with the G and even after a huge amount of turning it wouldn't budge past A. Then my bottle crashed at the thought of trying the rest. Sorry
  17. Holy Smokes Rob Size 2 !!! A bit difficult to store stuff in a matchbox sized shoebox. Where does she keep the poems you penned in your courting days ? Unless you wrote Haiku
  18. AT I was giving some thought to the likes of Revelation,Chowny and Retrovibe. Can they really compared to the big players ? Like yourself I've browsed Ali Express enough to have an inkling of prices but have those 3 the buying power to get the low prices ? Revelation are of course a bigger outfit than the other 2,I think they're both one man bands ( Dave Konig certainly is at Retrovibe ),but still not that big. Prices on 1000s of units will be lower than on 100s and dozens. So I think their products and prices as a good deal, they have fewer resources to weather mishaps in production or delays and far lower sales figures. The brands selling 1000s of items every week ? I don't view them in the same light.
  19. That's where the second thoughts come in JAC. If unit costs are fairly standard well some other brands ain't so good value. There's another 50s P bass out that sells for 15 times what my deko cost, made from the ultra rare timber known as pine. Not that I was thinking of getting one
  20. AT I agree 100%. Even if ,as I suspect, the deko price is close to unit cost that wouldn't stop me buying another at full price. Knowing the mark up on my PB-50 I'm still happy but I'll definitely think twice when looking at other mass produced brands. Course it's not as clear cut,the big players have more workers wages to pay and share holders to consider. That's one thing Thomann don't need to worry abour
  21. An idle thought here triggered by the " £50 is too much " Has buying dekos changed how you think about the value of affordable basses ? If the £35 for a deko JB-75 isn't far off what they cost Thomann, do you still think you're getting value for money from others ?.
  22. Rob I have about 12 case and around the same in bags, not very appealing to the so they stay in the spare room. Basses are always on show using racks, walls and A-frame stands.
  23. Sensible approach redstriper. You could be waiting ages for a deko and end up with one of the few duds. Least just buying you'll know straight off if it's for you and easy return if it's not
  24. There's 3 of them here now. The first I've had for 18 month and has Status nylons, action's never moved from 1.75. It's got that thump I was after. Another was got to stick a Toaster in but I made a hash of that. Yesterday a Peavey SF went in it,when I balance the pickup later today it'll be good. Lasts a deko and I'm thinking Mudbucker or Fidelitron. Guess I hold these in quite high regard. Never played reggae so I can't say if it'll do or not, something for me to look into though.
