  1. Good pickup , I used one in my last 'knock together' https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/484769-shorty-thrown-together-yesterday/
  2. Far too close. Ric pickups are centred on imaginary 24th and 36th fret positions, that puts the bridge pickup just over 4" from the saddles. Ali-Ex bass looks to be around 2.5" from the saddles.
  3. They've been gone for years, at least 2 maybe 3.
  4. Some time after March 2018. Prior to then all PB-50s were right handed sunburst with Wilkinson single coil.
  5. Bloody Hell, that puts me on the spot 😄
  6. I bought a Fazley surf green guitar just I could convert to short scale bass and Install a Warman quad rail. Turned out great. Another Warman favourite of mine is the Jazz Bar, used them plenty of times.
  7. Cracking bass Paul. One of Mr Konig's finest, no surprise he kept it as his own personal player.
  8. Not all have the hole. It was absent from my first 4 PB-50's. Present on one from the first run when Thomann switched factory in May 2018, absent from the red left hander bought last year. Yes, I've owned multiple PB-50s and never felt the need to return a single one. It's been one of the most important basses I've ever bought, had a house full of pretty basses with active EQ, CF/Graphite necks, fancy aftermarket brand pickups/ tuning pegs/bridges etc. One £78 purchase put an end to that malarkey. 9, soon to be 10, years later, PB-50 still brings a smile to my face 🙂
  9. Fender Deluxe is 3 screw/through body. The Wilkinson compensated is also 3 screw/through body but looks much more in period.
  10. Had loads of them. A Wal, Fender with 2 wide range HB, several Peavey Cirrus, Peavey C-5 and Grind; thats just tip of the iceberg. Also had 5 Peavey T-40's. Spin-a-split for single coil was a crap idea so I nipped the red wire an left them humbucker only. To further irk the purists one got a preamp, another converted to 5 strings 😄
  11. Aye @Pea Turgh is right, Brian is the man for the job 👍 @BMBR Either ask him for a PDF to print and try for size or send him a tracing, sending up your existing plate is an option but it's a bit of a hassle.
  12. I bought a couple of BBOT with 16.5mm spacing on Ali-Ex. That was just last month so still have the seller's details. Went for black and chrome at £9 each. @Rayman Just remembered, I've a single pickup version upstairs in need of a bridge. Will be ordering again from Ali-Ex soon, if you'd like one just let me know.
  13. Search on that emporium of legit goods, Ali-Express, turned up plenty of them 😄 I wonder what the real company thinks about them.
  14. I'm pretty sure somebody makes roundwound for bass ukes.
  15. I've never heard of South Korean Alpha pots before, Alpha is a Taiwanese company. Opened their factory in 1970, specifically to make potentiometers. Paid off as they're a massive now. Bourns' factory is about half hour from them, CTS plant 4 hour drive south.
  16. Mine arrived within 2 weeks, paid 20% VAT same as on any purchase from outside the UK.
  17. So it's not about Scott making the Guinness book for waffling absolute S**te 🙁
  18. Brian in Glasgow will make you one, basic 3 ply are £30 rising to £40 for fancy stuff like mirror finishes. https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/earlpilanz/Jazz-Bass/_i.html?store_cat=19748356010
  19. Came here for the plywood floor. That's not plywood, its OSB 🤬
  20. Falkirk was no bad for live bands. All changed now. The Burns bar, it's all wine or cocktails now ☹️ The Argyll, went from skinhead pub to fancy gin lounge 🤬 Glenfinnan is gone, so is the Brig and the club at the ice rink. Town hall too .
  21. No Andy. At the nut I've 3.5mm from edge of fretboard to centre of the string on each side, down at the heel its 4mm each side. Original pickup mounting was off the square so that'll throw your eye. Bridge spacing was given as 16.5mm, it's 17mm/16mm/16.5mm; dare say we'd find something similar across most bridge saddles. Paddle peghead so they needed drilled. Shape was marked out on the back, total PITA. All my templates were too long, shortened it freehand. New 'improved' shortened version didn't leave enough meat for open gear tuning pegs so it got Gotoh copies from a Peavey. Gotoh tuners don't match the templates, made one using this Shine. Course the bloody centre differed from the template 🤬 Angle coming off the nut would be fine if it was a Gibson 3+3. Lucky for me the 2 +2 template is already done for the Mosrite 👍
  22. Decent pub, 40 year back 😄
  23. I get mine from Lidl, veg boxes are best being 2 or 3 walls thick. Remove the short end from 2 boxes, decide on the length then trim the sides to suit; that'll give you 2 tongues. Slide one over the over and either tape or hot glue together, 2 strips up the sides will keep them rigid. Cut another 2 boxes to form the lid. Wrap in brown paper or more cardboard.
  24. Still to do. 2 black screws in the holes left by original bridge, some kind of plate to hide the string ferrules on the back. Maybe trim the peghead lines, looks a bit oversize to me.
  25. Neck got drilled and fitted. Bridge position, Lady Luck shined on me. Fazley bridge is through body strung so I'd 6 holes and a ground wire in a nice row at the front 😬 Base plate covers them by 3-4mm 🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️ Warman Quad drive replaced the white humbucker, black knob replaced the white one. Hofner light gauge strings will get replaced with Status Hotwire tapes. 2nd time I've tried light gauge strings , yet again I'm struggling to get proper relief.
