  1. Got a set of strings from Nige at the weekend. Quick and easy purchase. Cheers Nige yer a STAR.
  2. Glad you're enjoying the uke,I find mine gets plenty of noodling use. It's just such a handy size to keep next to me but the talc can get messy. Do puncture repair kits still have talc or chalk ? Might be a source of unscented talc. Totally agree with you, they do sound double bassy. I got quite a surprise.
  3. Noticed a couple of dekos BZ-6000 http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_bz_6000_nt_deko.htm 5 string fretless http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_550fl_bk_progressive_deko.htm Can't say how long they've been up.
  4. Don't give up hope I've ordered on a Sunday night got confirmation and shipping email Monday morning then signed for the bass 11.30am Wednesday.
  5. You should have got email yesterday. Your order went in after their holiday on Thursday so really no excuse for not processing it yesterday. Can't have had that many orders to catch up it was only 1 day. No DHL pick ups on a Sunday though
  6. Nobody works there on a Sunday so expect it first thing tomorrow.
  7. Cheers for clearing that up Left Foot. Sometimes we forget different traditions in Europe. There was a long delay at the start of this year, New Year being a Thursday and Epiphany on the Tuesday meant some German firms didn't start back till 7th January. There was a holiday yesterday as well, if anybody ordered stuff might knock processing back a day.
  8. Had a hell of a time looking for unperfumed talc so just got Nivea pure fine talc from the £ shop. Another thing I noticed was until the strings settle fretting too hard has the same effect as bending the strings, the note will be slightly sharp. You'll find you'll be tuning up often as well and it takes loads of turns to get it right. Had mines a good few months now so strings have settled down, great wee bass to have. Tempted to go for a fretless sometime.
  9. York5stringer I found talc helped alot and I also had strings bounce all over the fretboard, using a gentler attack improved things 100%.
  10. Never waited longer than next day for confirmation email. Could the 3 days been over a weekend or bank holiday ?
  11. While I enjoy my HB Uke I think I should have went for the fretless version. The thick strings squeezed into those reduced frets can take some getting used to. Mind you they do sound good
  12. edit Ignore post never saw last sentence below photo. Sorry. Bassassin The tuner/tail piece unit photo is upside down. If you look at the body there is a step in the bridge rout, flip the tail piece and no doubt there'll be saddles on top.
  13. Pickup wires seem awfully short. AT One's the plate the other is a plastic back plate.
  14. There's a travesty on ebay just now. The Harley Benton butcher has took a jigsaw to a HB RB414 headstock and added a couple of £100. Even has the fake TR cover with R**k****r made in USA. How the hell it's not been tugged yet is beyond me.
  15. wjs guitars up here in Scotland have this prototype for sale just now. [attachment=192960:Layer Bass.jpg] The Layer Bass. Not quite sure what to make of it but as it's a proto anything could change.
  16. Excellent. When I saw them listed I thought 4 string passive with a Stinger preamp from Dave at ProBass only I've one of Dave's Evos which hasn't had the Stinger fitted yet so no HB Stingray for me Good to hear you enjoy your T-bird. Fancied going for one but my Epi T-bird has been neglected This will hopefully change, heard a T-bird with flats last week sounded killer,Chromes going on the T-bird Roll on August. Is it passive or active in your mind ?
  17. This mean you going to order one Mark ? Not long till August
  18. Just got back from work and heard the news. Damn.
  19. @AT Hopefully the Tune will arrive by the weekend. Will get it bolted together and try it out. Really interested to see how the A/B with the Bass Collection turns out.
  20. Well it's Jap but definitely not crap, least I hope not I've went and bought that Bass Maniac project wotsy posted a couple of weeks back. I'd saw it but passed as I always wanted the fretless one reviewed in Guitarist mid 80s [attachment=192216:Tune_fretless_Bass.jpg] I was offered one this week but the asking price was shall we say unrealistic.30 years I waited then had to say no,was gutted Anyway there's the Maniac project and a 770mm Wenge fingerboard on it's way to me. Will I combine the two ? Chip in with any thoughts folks. KB
  21. Beauty of a bass. I've saw it listed in all the right places this weekend and TRBboy's right it's a rare fish indeed, Jazz pickups instead of VFLs or P/J And the PRICE ?. Good God man what are you thinking ? An absolute gem of a bass at a steal of a price. 5 strings and a hand injury rule me out I'm afraid. Have a BUMP
  22. Why are the string winds like that ? Unless it meant to mean after 30 years of playing the owner still couldn't fit strings properly.
  23. 2nd vote for Flightcase Warehouse. I bought 5 and 7 multi stands from them last year and the next day service was great. Helped that the stands were on sale too.
  24. Reckon £90/100 is cheap enough alright Go on treat yourself. No plans for moving my Milestone either, great basses
  25. AT thanks for the heads up. I thought that one was over in the US. Tell you what that is a fantastic low price for one. I think I paid £250 for mine from a car parts dealer in the States. If anyone is interested in the T-20 I'd recommend you buy it quick. They don't come up too often over here. Back to the Millennium. Bass_Guardian if it's cheap enough go for it.Sound and playing wise it's a step up from the Milestone. Not that I'm sneering at the Milestone,I still like playing my own Milestone III .
