  1. I like your thinking there Geek99 Well happy with mine so I bought 2.
  2. Got a couple of the active ones Alex. Think they were around £150 s/h. Dead easy to play due to the thin necks. Indonesian model has a truss rod wheel adjuster and Chinese one's a normal allen key at the nut. Both the Tiger-Eye and the Violet finish is good and they're light-weight. Let me ken what other info your after.
  3. I take it the search for 9 strings continues
  4. My 5'er comes in at just over 12lbs. Not really deadly and I found it played surprisingly well. It was really only bought as a gimmick and at £60 with no scratches I can't complain. [attachment=191477:Wesely Plexi.jpg]
  5. Woah AT Where on earth did you spot this ?
  6. @blisterman You just made my day. We'll get some arrangement made for definite. Black tapewounds !! it just gets better. I'll PM you next couple of days or feel free to contact me first.
  7. So reshaping and painting the headstock plus changing the machineheads means £100 custom work. £400 BIN who the hell are these chancers ?
  8. AT I've seen Dekos posted on Sunday mornings and also on Saturday nights as well as through the night. Strangest time I've saw them get posted was last Hogmanay. I don't know what was worse, Somebody still working then or me browsing for bass guitars. It was around 10.30pm.
  9. alittlebitrobot It's just a reflection of manufacturing costs in China. Thomann buy direct from Saein and use a small mark up/high sales business model, so no middle man, others buy direct but use a higher mark up/high sales model then the distributor adds their mark up then the vendor. It all adds up but Thomann are both distributor and vendor so those costs are saved. Win win situation.
  10. These are also available as active models. MM-84A and MM-85A, £126 and £139. There were also another 2 Deluxe basses added today a Rosewood veneer PJ and a Rosewood veneer JB. Neither have a stock date yet and are priced around £140. Oh both have Basswood bodies under the veneer.
  11. Always a breeze dealing with Paul. No fuss no hassle. Cheers Paul I think that pickup will go in a Squier for my laddie.
  12. Don't forget Tony Gad from Aswad has played a Bass Maniac for years. That man has got some heavy bass tones from such a lightweight bass. If it was the piezo fretless with the extended fingerboard I'd snatch it.I've only been waiting 30 years for one GLWTS
  13. 2 Deko B-550 up for grabs. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_550_black_progressiv_deko.htm Not listed in the Deko section this time. Get in fast though.
  14. Finally got round to wall mounting some, still got a few in the spare room though [attachment=189558:Living Room (1).jpg] [attachment=189560:Living Room (3).jpg] [attachment=189559:Living Room (2).jpg] Not pictured are 4 on single stands and 7 below the BC Rich. Not bad going fitting this lot in a 13' x 13' room.
  15. For those that are skint, have Ray GAS and don't mind different names on basswood bodies Thomann listed MM style basses in their Harley Benton range today. Under £130 gets you the active 4 string http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mm_84a_sb_deluxe_series.htm And £140 for the active 5'er http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mm_84a_sb_deluxe_series.htm As they're not in stock yet there's no reviews, maybe somebody will chance £84 on a passive model just to test the build quality.
  16. Saw Pete Way spew over a security fella once. To be fair I think he'd drank 3 Special Brews in 20 minutes. Never missed a beat Singer years back was on a diet of Cheesy Wotsits and Wild Turkey. It wasn't a pretty sight.
  17. They were the 1st 2 examples of alder grain Google threw up on an alder wood grain image search
  18. Looking at his past feedback simon020166 has been selling an awful lot of Harley Bentons. I counted 3 LH acoustic basses all sold for £87. I think you've unearthed who's buying up the "dekos" AT,or at least some of them I zoomed in on the neck pocket, what makes you think it's not alder ? http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/red-alder/ http://www.kneguitars.com/woods.php
  19. I recently bought a b-stock Harley Benton bass and I think the reason it was returned was a bent tuner, can't find anything else wrong. Could have returned it no problem, as others have said the warranty and customer service are great with Thomann.
  20. Looking Braw Stevie. Followed your suggestion but the young fella I'm working with chickened out. But then he only carries a 20 oz hammer, whits that gonna dae ?
  21. They always had a situations vacant link but it was on the company info page.By my count at least 50 more folk have been employed in the last 6 months. And that's with the failing euro ! A friend in the States told me last night it's £4 cheaper to buy my HB-60 and get it delivered to the US it's even worse when he lived in Greece, same bass was 279 euro compered to the 240 euro he'll pay now. Sorry for going off topic.
  22. A hollow body arrived last Thursday and I fancied putting flats on it. Lo and behold Jo had a set of Chromes for sale.1 " can I buy them ? " email sent and a " of course you can ." reply and the deal was done. Easy purchase, strings arrived today. If only everything in life was so simple Cheers Jo, you're a star.
