Don't think you're being defensive UD. Lw listed a range of flaws as if they were commonplace, which isn't the case. My own experience with HB basses is if they cost twice as much I'd still be happy. And that 50% has stayed constant as the PB-20 far outplays the Squier Affinity P bass I have and I still reckon the BZ-4000 stands up against the Cirrus and others. I'd like to try the T-bird against my Epi one as they're both built by Saein and not counting the HB's active it still cost 50% less. I can't say how the HB's rate against the J&Ds but remember hearing somebody say it took a lot of work to get their J&D as playable as their HB. I'll stick with my view the HBs are as good as most costing twice as much. Gave a Gear4Music or a Rockburn P bass to my neice at Xmas,it was ok but not great and still was 50% more than the PB-20. Why didn't she get the PB-20 ? It had been altered to BEAD and the G4M or whatever was a £40 last minute from Cash Converters

Sadly it's common business practise UD.I think the same tactic was used against Dave from Retrovibe. There's a really strange mindset regards Rics, on another site a fella bought a Chinese copy then did a video. Just went this is my Ric 4001 and this is my Chinabacker then A/B'd them sound wise.He pointed out what he reckons were design flaws in the Chinese but really made no attempt to say it was better in any respect. Man he got slaughtered. Was talking to him last night, thankfully he's still tinkering with it and gigging with it too. As I've a break between jobs I should spend some time with the RB414. If I can keep away from the Peaveys
-
Flats on the Peavey. That's sounding a good idea already

Anticipation IS a killer Can't see it being a boat anchor by any standards, even the much mentioned T-40's averaged between 10 - 11 lbs. About the same as a £1.99 bag of spuds or as I found out last night less than a 3 month baby Handy not needing the case, sell it on and try out different B strings You did get 1st refusal but I ain't selling. Roll on Wednesday ma Man.

I've the G bass Andy, with the single VFL. There might be a difference between the Cirrus and the GV. I A/B'd my Peaveys on Friday for an American fella,he wanted to know how the Forum neck was against others. The G bass has a slim 38mm Jazz neck whereas the Cirrus was 42mm but also had a thinner profile like the G bass. The B-90 has the same style neck as the Cirrus. Oh Man just checked the pic. I'd say you've won a watch there, thank god I don't do 5 strings or I would be jealous as hell. Be looking forward to hearing your thoughts later in the week. Congrats are in order I think. Well done that Man

That's great you're happy with it and even better you've gigged it and it performed well. The quality from the Far East keeps getting better and better. Congrats Man

AT I heard from a fella in Portugal who checks at 4am everyday, don't imagine he's the only one. I checked roughly once a hour till 4am myself but if they're gone in minutes like usual still would have missed them -
This would have been a NBD thread, but....
kodiakblair replied to Funky Dunky's topic in Bass Guitars
Bit of a bugger that. But the bright side is in just a few more weeks you get the bass you've been wishing on. I call that a result Would have been hellish if Sterling had announced the 5'er in April or you hadn't checked the site for strings. You waited a year another few weeks won't hurt and advance congratulations for when it arrives -
bassmachine2112 Is that the twin pickup Forum ? Sometimes called the Forum AX. Don't be putting ideas in my head, I'm nearly fielding both sides already

No subdude no mention but that doesn't necessarily mean it was present in the US maybe the temperature in the cargo hold affected it ? With it being bought on my behalf by a guy who's never even held a bass the whole venture was a gamble, one I could easily have lost. A Mississippi fella on the American bass site told me just the other day bowed necks were common on 80's Peaveys Reckoned the set up guys never adjusted them and the cold dry winters followed by hot wet summers didn't help and it stayed that way until the Japanese basses started being sold. I can't verify or discount what he said but can say the only necks I've had trouble with were a Foundation,Patriot and this T-45. These were the necks requiring clamping and all 3 came from the US.Both T-40 and the T-20 necks appear fine and the later Peaveys like the Dyna and G bass were grand. No trouble with any of the BXP basses either. All good things must come in threes as yesterday even when not looking for another I was offered this. [attachment=181456:Forum.jpg] Couldn't say no Though I've gotta say if the Fury ever arrives that's me done!!

Cheers AT £40 off the pointy thing's still a good deal if you were starting. You could buy a wee battery amp and a fuzz box or a multi effects with the discount. -
What a cracking bit of kit. Yer a lucky man Anzoid

kodiakblair replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Maude's right only Harley Bentons get sold as dekos. Returned items of any brand get sold as B-stock and any broken Harley Bentons get sold through their ebay shop. They did have a HBZ 4 a few weeks back £150 odd going for £59 if I remember right. Lasted about 4 minutes. Anyone looking to score a Fender P as deko is looking at the wrong thread, maybe if the thread was called Harley Benton decoration only basses folk wouldn't be disappointed when they don't see Fenders etc. Too late now there's been a deko buying frenzy last few weeks. -
I've straightened quite a few necks using the same method Dave uses in the video but never tried to take a twist out. I've a couple of ideas but having never tested them myself they could well be useless or be a long road for a shortcut. I'll have a good think about it but the main idea I've got involves a lot of work. Keep you posted.

The clan here welcomed another couple kin last week. I'd been talking to a friend about his Dyna bass and wasn't it just an active Foundation ? Turns out it's more than that. Still got that slim neck and the 2 super ferrites but the added preamp was impressive he said. So after the slight mishaps with the T-40 rebuild on Boxing Day and while contemplating my next move I spotted a Dyna over in Florida at a very keen price, even by American prices. [attachment=181267:Dyna Bass (2).jpg] It arrived week past Tuesday and needed a set up and a wee bit work but by Wednesday all was good. Sadly Wednesday was the Charlie Hebdo attack and a new bass no matter how nice was getting posted about. Strung with those Rotosound Nexus I like so much it really sang and apart from the B-90 has been the easiest USA Peavey to set up. I think the Schaller 3D bridge on it is a great design Then there was this on Thursday. [attachment=181268:T 45 (5).jpg] I've always been drawn to the T-45 but this must be the most difficult purchase I've ever had. It was on ebay for $299.99 BIN ,the last I saw went for $450, with 12 watching I emailed the seller would he ship to Scotland and he said yes but never replied when I asked how much. Up to 16 watchers by now so I email a friend in Chicago to buy it. Word of warning here : trying to get a drunk friend to set up a PayPal account and an ebay account using FB messaging is murder and when they forgot to write down passwords multiple homicide. Getting him to ship was another nightmare but once handed over to the P.O. went a dream.6 days from Chicago to Scotland including the time spent with customs. This poor thing had the worst neck bow I've seen and the truss rod had been cranked to hell. Once I could reach it to slacken it spent the last week clamped to create a back bow,yes it was that bad, but I got there in the end. Today I finally got to play it
