1. Just got word from my pal in Chicago that it's shipped. Yip molan was $125 and just made the dimension limits. Whipping the neck off would have been cheaper but that would be beyond the capabilities of my mate. When I asked if it was in a hardcase or a gig bag he said " just a box " with visions of smashed basses I told him to put another layer of cardboard round it that's when he discovered it was in a hard case. I'll be polite and say it was a new experience for him
2. I think it'll be Monday before Probass is open again. I tired to catch Dave and ask but missed him by 10 mins. Zygote's has a similar neck to the Evo. 38mm nut,24 fret and 19mm spacing. It differs in using 4 screws to attach and it's a tight fit, you won't slip a fag paper in the join.Same black hardware and strung through body set up. It has 2 MM humbuckers this time with room for a third 2 V and 2 T controls. Very light ,You'll be lucky if this weighs 8lbs. The trans red finish is a pest to photograph as you can see, tried my best with the £5 camera. I'll try and answer any questions I can folks. 3. Hi Lee I've had an Evo for about 8 months I think.Dave at Probass was having a promotional auction, the Evo and Zygote ended up mines. A really decent and well put together bass, lightweight too.Quite a narrow neck ,38mm nut and 19mm spacing, nice binding job and the gloss finish doesn't feel too thick and heavy.Easy to run up and down. It's the Saturday Night Fever finish,Black and white with the inlays looks the part. Finish is well applied, strung thru the body, solid black hardware and neck attached by 6 screws. How does it sound ? Loud !!! Seriously that single MM packs a punch.I'd just finished playing the Curbow and swapped to this and BAM. I was wearing headphones and it took me by surprise Thought it was an active bass at the time.Right punchy sounds from this. I've been noodling with it while typing and now I'm thinking about adding the Stinger circuit Dave sells. Cheers Lee you just cost me £30 odd Anything specific just ask away. Happy Hogmanay 2015

5. Years back I read a column by Joe Hubbard and he recommended Motown Chartbusters Vol 3. Being heavy into Punk at the time amazingly I took his advice Motown Chartbusters Volume 3 Album No TML/STML11121

"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" - Marvin Gaye #1
"I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" - Diana Ross & The Supremes And The Temptations #3
"My Cherie Amour" - Stevie Wonder #4
"This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You)" - The Isley Brothers #3 (re-issue)
"I'll Pick A Rose For My Rose" - Marv Johnson #10
"No Matter What Sign You Are" - Diana Ross & The Supremes #37
"I'm in a Different World" - The Four Tops #27
"Dancing In The Street" - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas #4 (re-issue)
"For Once in My Life" - Stevie Wonder #3
"You're All I Need To Get By" - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell #19
"Get Ready" - The Temptations #10
"Stop Her On The Sight (S.O.S)" - Edwin Starr #11 (re-issue)
"Love Child" - Diana Ross & The Supremes #15
"Behind a Painted Smile" - The Isley Brothers #5
"(I'm a) Road Runner" - Jr. Walker & The All Stars #12
"The Tracks Of My Tears" - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles #9
What a track list Even better you can pick it up for under a fiver. 6. Still can't understand why this hasn't sold T-bird. Ebay search just now turned up 50 basses between £150 and £170. Chords,Staggs,Guvnors,Lindos and Encores. None up to the standard of this. Lets hope folk see sense in the New Year.
7. Took advantage of Davids recent string clear out and a set of chromes arrived today. Very easy man to deal with. Many thanks David.
8. Christ seeing Nick's one just brought back memories. I had one of these. 1st bass. Bought it for £1. The heads were snapped off the tuners so I used pliers to tune it. The pickup was held in with nails and the pots were mounted on a plywood oval also nailed on.Nailing things to semi hollows is never good. Played it through my mam's music centre. Wonder what the hell happened to it?
9. Well they want you to GAS for a MIA but start on a Squier then go for a MIM or MIC then hear great things about a VM so back to Squier.Play that for a while and buy a MIJ. After many years and £1000s spent you get your MIA, by then you're too heavily invested to complain so aim for MIA Custom Shop next I must add I've never owned a Fender so take this with a pinch of salt.
10. Chris is right. Been following a thread elsewhere where a guy A/B'd a Chinese R*c and a R*c. It's been interesting but one thing mentioned was some sellers on Ali don't have the basses, they wait on orders then run out to the shop and buy one. Explains the stock pictures you see.
11. Folk also forget the Chinese build to a set price. If a company buys a £20 bass from China and sell it for £200,it's not the Chinese factory at fault. Having 6 Chinese built basses myself they can build great basses when given the chance.
12. Must be a typo. My deko BK-30 has 24 frets but the picture in the link shows 22. Old stock photo perhaps.
13. You got 91 from me and I'll pass it on to anybody I know local to you. Did this for a fellow BC'er last week ,they'd just got a new singer So I pass the link an my mate says " KB I know the bass player an listening to the song's on tonights to-do list " Small world eh
14. So is that just two 6 pole switches I need ? Will any one the right size do or do I buy these ones ? http://www.vintagegitaar.nl/vm/view/category/search/true/virtuemart_category_id/0/start/0.html?keyword=Peavey&limitstart=0&option=com_virtuemart&view=category Cheers
15. In the spirit of all things 40 here's my one Well it's the one that works
16. Morning Flat Eric I PMd you but there was a problem with the photos. These are the switches, much bigger than the ones on the other T 40 and bigger than the replacement ones I've seen for sale. Looks like 87/12 or maybe 84/12 is stamped on then. Any ideas ? Have the switches been replaced some time ? Cheers KB
17. JJW This site will give you some background to them. How they were developed in isolation by and by party edicts. Well worth delving into. Helps if I post the link sorry. http://www.cheesyguitars.com/index.html
18. It is bloody wonderful Chris. What a brilliant lass you've got. Had a wee bit trouble with mines today. They're some bit of kit. Top marks to Peavey for these. Congratulations on that one Sir
19. Chris when did you get the T 40 ? Great bass ain't it.
20. Oh I agree there Damonjames. The T 40 is all original it's just Peavey changed the switches. Making the control cavity bigger isn't a problem. Chip Todd who designed them does it all the time to make them lighter. He flips them over and routs large cavities out the back. Like-wise with the Patriot. I'll replace the screws rather than cut them and hope the neck comes true. The Foundation's a bitsa, I've two others and this is just parts lying around, all Peavey parts mind you. After nothing going to plan today walking away was the best idea. Things will look better tomorrow.
21. Wrong type of Tranny Maude My power tools are all 110v
22. The Tranny seems to always be dressed in yellow. She's heavy too for such a wee thing.
23. Shops are open tomorrow so I'll get some machine screws to fit the Patriot and plenty of sets of strings ( as long as I cut the right one,had G and D mixed up) Pie tin shielding out and a quick zip with the router will take care of the T 40,it came with those switches so it's keeping those switches. T 40 wiring is confusing enough The Patriot neck can lie a while too see if it comes around to my way of thinking.
24. I'd high hopes for today. The plan was for 3 basses unveiled well it was not to be A few months back FEND3R sold me all the parts for a T 40 I only had to source a body and finally on Tuesday there it arrived. As did some parts for a Foundation build, well more a bitsa Foundation. So I'd buggered around getting a body, would I just buy one from the States or make one. Numerous requests went out for sizes or templates, I even scaled up a photo in the end I bought one. £45 for the timber then glue and rout or £60 and just bolt it together. £60 won.And while on the hunt I picked up another T 40,just for research purposes you understand But customs mislaid the body Then found it A trial run showed I'd lost the scratch plate screws and 7 of the 8 pickup screws Oh and the scratch plate wouldn't fit, seemed like the switches were catching. No problem says I just open up the other T 40 for reference. Start the day with an easy one. Adjust the Patriot neck. Aye right. it's gooched as Dave's world of fun puts it. Will need straightened and clamped then left in a darkened room while I calm down. The Foundation still needed a SF pickup so I stuck the spare T 40 neck it had on the Patriot. Shorter saddles screws needed for intonation. 2 Basses out of action On to the T 40. FEND3R's T 40 is from 78 so I removed the scratch plate from the 79 T 40,see what could be done. It's a router job the 78 has bigger switches and the body is a 79 or later. So with 3 basses in bits all thoughts of gettin the router and tranny out disappeared. I leave you with the fruits of my non-labour. What it looks like, what it's meant to look like and what I'm left with The Patriot's not there, I cut the G string too short couldn't bring myself to photograph it. The T 40 that's whole's bloody good though
25. I'd proudly sport a Cuntz bass
