  1. I ordered £20 P bass on Sunday and cause I was paying postage got a 4 string acoustic and a BDI21. 114 euros all told. Cause it was Sunday the order wasn't processed till Monday morning and they arrived by 1pm today so say 52-54 hours that's fast service. I've these Roto dropzone strings I fancy trying, 85 - 175, as it'll require filing the nut and boring out the bridge a cheap bass was needed. The deko P bass fit the bill and probably cost the same as a nut and bridge. No sharp frets, but a slight bow in the neck and of the 3 pieces making the body the middle one is a wee bit thinner so it's noticable from the back. Apart from that it's all good. I'll set the neck and tackle the surgery tomorrow. The acoustic, well it's big and it's loud the only flaws I've noticed are a couple of small chips round the binding and a wee hollow on the back, like when you slip with a plane down wood, triangle about 1/2 inch by inch and 1/2. Not had time to plug it in yet Get the camera charged and post some pics tomorrow.
  2. The delivery charge was quite high. I was £47.78 for both a 5 and a 7 Guitar stand. Paid about £24 each for the 7 stands from Adrenaline, they've been in touch saying they no longer stock the Stagg stands. 5 measures 610mm and the 7 is 810mm which is the same as the Stagg so my basses will line up at the same height. Oh they'll be here tomorrow Great for impatient folk like me.
  3. It's in lovely condition but it's more than twice what mine's cost shipped from the States. Granted my T 20 has loads of mojo, I expect a 30 yr old bass to have that. Always wonder why it wasn't played.
  4. Thanks for sorting that out for me AT So the Spiders are £9 odds for delivery and if it comes in at less than 755mm wide I'm on a winner. That's all the space I've got left. It should do the Rockstand's 735mm.
  5. I found this firm about an hour back. Looks very similar to the Stagg and they got them on offer. I emailed them about postage and widths so I'll update with them soon as I know but have a look at these. https://secure2.spiderscope.com/0710/application/index.asp?section=guitar-stands-9458
  6. AT Those Chord stands are rubbish. I bought one a few months back and straightaway I knew it was junk. I normally use Stagg SGA010 stands but Adrenaline never had them in stock so I got the Chord one. The assembly was lousy, it's in about 12 - 15 parts the Stagg's only 7. The welded nut snapped off when attaching the top rail, the Stagg has a shoulder fitting far better IMO. Even allowing for the broomhandle dook I fitted the whole thing is very unstable. When I contacted the seller they told just to bin it and refunded the money, a week later Adrenaline had the Staggs back in stock. Damn thing is I need another one and guess what out of stock again. Got 2 of the stands from Lidl last night as a stop-gap. Do the trick ok but like any foam keep well clear from nitro.
  7. I'm enjoying the Peaveys alright but there's just so many of them Had a sort out of the spareroom today and realised there's only space for 1 more bass Lucky for me I've more than enough 5 strings and I know exactly what'll take the last space. Can't see this cracker hanging about for long.
  8. Lovely looking bass there funkle and boy what a great price too. GLWS
  9. If I'm not working away in April I'll be at the show. Good idea trying the JB,I've been happy with mines. I know some folks have a problem with the weight but with 30 year in the building game 11lbs not an issue. Actually waiting on some things from Thomann myself and I still fancy the Ric-alike. Keep saving those pennies
  10. Maybe they're honouring the design or they might just have a load of control covers. Either way the Brice ain't gonna hurt their business all combusitons sold out till mid 2015. according to their website.
  11. dood Dingwall don't pay Novak anything anymore. The patent expired so no-one pays to use the fan-fret idea. That's how patents work, you develop an idea and the patent makes sure you are paid by anyone using your idea For a Set Time. It's different from copyright or trademark. How do you feel about the Super P & J models ?
  12. Read about it last week on TB. It really upset the Dingwall owners. " It's a rip-off " " But Dingwall don't hold the fanned fret patent Novax do " " Well Dingwall's licensed is the Brice ? " " No the patent's lapsed so it's open source " " Well it's still a rip off and probably has a sharp fret too " Love reading those threads.
  13. David De-fretting is easy enough but gets fret pullers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fret-Puller-for-Guitar-Bass-Luthier-tool-Bridge-Pin-Puller-Hardened-Steel-/131339829251?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e9476c003 and heat the frets with a soldering iron first to loosen them, then it's just a case of filling the neck with a veneer, trim them off then sand and coat. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pick-Your-Own-Wood-Veneer-Marquetry-Sheets-Can-Choose-Iron-on-or-Unglued-/290934693119?pt=UK_Crafts_Other_Crafts_EH&var=&hash=item43bd0f1cff £6.50 for the pullers and £2 for veneer. Or you could look for a Westone Thunder II fretless, they were medium scale basses.
  14. Andy That is a thing of beauty. Yourself and Bryan have come up with a classic. I keep thinking of peacock feathers when I look at the veneer and colours. It's just so cool. KB
  15. Go for it AT The review credit/free postage sweetens the deal but more importantly I was watching some youtube videos of these today and they came off very good. Add in the fact that you've held off from buying for a good while so you've given this a lot of thought. Reward yourself my friend and lets hope yours is like the rest ie no real issues KB
  16. Thanks Subbeh. I always thought if I was gettin a Mockingbird it would be a Plus model with the bolt on neck. This has turned out too be a good buy.
  17. Here's my Peavey B-90 [attachment=177421:Peavey B 90 (2).jpg]
  18. Years back I'd sometimes see these strange shaped guitars an basses and was never sure who made them. Then the hair metal thing happened and there was no escaping BC Rich designs. I'd always liked the Mockingbird over the Bich or Warlock models but never really thought about getting one, would be nice though. So start of the week finds me in Doncaster working and Gumtree tells me there's a Mockingbird for sale in Edinburgh for £200 . Not a hope in hell I think, but on the off chance I text the fella last night while travelling back and he still had it By 1.15pm I was the owner of a Heritage Classic in great nick ,his Ironbird was played to hell as is only right for a rock warrior type bass. Anyway here's my 1st impressions. Strap button needs moving to heel of neck to fix the neck dive,Thunderbirds are nothing compared to this. Right solid build on this one and a good quality finish.Looks damn fine. Playing-wise the neck's wider than on my later Peaveys but that just means I have to play it more till I get used to it.Quiet pots and quite a growl with the twin pups. Think I could get well used to this one. Definitely worth £200 [attachment=177418:Mockingbird (2).jpg][attachment=177419:Mockingbird (1).jpg] Of course it would be a post from me without a Peavey, this arrived the night before I left for Doncaster. Gonna put it through it's paces tomorrow and post more. Peavey G bass [attachment=177420:G Bass (1).jpg]
  19. That's good news Jewey. I'm still not 100% sure why mines was a decko either. Fantastic deal you got yourself there, congratulations.
  20. I've a Neo. Great looking finish, sunburst spalted, balances well. Its a Korean made model and has no issues. Strung with RS Nexus it sounds good. I've heard there were some problems with the early Chinese models but that should be sort by now.
  21. FEND3R got in touch with me regarding his Peavey bass as he saw I was interested in Peaveys. Plenty pictures and updates were given and the goods arrived in jig time well packed. All in all a great purchase and I'd have no problem dealing with him in future. Cheers FEND3R now I just have to build the bass
  22. I own 3 HB,never had any problems with any of them. Damn good value and good basses.
  23. I've a white Evo and the red Zygote and if it's like them well you can expect a very lightweight bass. Fit and finish was good and both mines had gloss necks, came with a good set up too. Those pickups Dave uses are Loud, took me by surprise. Dave also has his return policy if you're not happy and an all round top bloke, emailed me a while back with the heads up on a bass I was after. Drop him a line.
  24. Think my P-bass copy was Japanese, played great. Your second bass, I'm squinting my eyes does that read Ibanez ? The through neck Cort built Kay is a totally different animal to the thing I had. No question about that.
