Think this one may have been mine at one time. Fella about 15 mile away is asking £150 for it. If you're interested, I'm happy to do the middle man job 👍

Could still happen Paul 🙂 One of the apprentices is right into his motors , pal of his has started doing resprays. Another does the wraps. Seeing as I've around £100 in this there's plenty for a good finish and still come in under Affinity money 😀

A standard P-bass only bloody loud. Most hot pickups get the increased output from higher wire counts, trouble with that is you start to lose the mids and a P-bass without mids is a no-no. Enwistle have a fairly low wire count but get the higher output by using rare earth magnets 👍

2 x 250k pots + 0.1 cap. Control plate/knobs from Axecaster. Scratchplate from China. 90 minutes well spent 😀

Opted for Entwistle PBXN. I've a few complain these never fit. No problem here, could easily have used springs instead of foam. They're actually a bit low so I'll probably go with springs later.

Quick rake through the neck bin failed to turn up any with squared heels. It took very little to make this right.

I'm rapidly running out of 51 P-bass variations but you can't plan these things too much. Last Friday I spotted a body on the FB marketplace, 2 messages and £45 later it was mine 🙂 Fella post it Saturday, Evri dropped it off Monday afternoon 👍 No idea what this was from but it's a starter for 10.

Will Vintage Guitars Be Worthless When Boomers Are Gone?
kodiakblair replied to musicbassman's topic in General Discussion
Will they ? There's 18 apprentices at work, aged 17 to 22. These lads are out every weekend , not one of them goes to live bands. None of frequent pubs with live bands either. If they go to a festival it's for the experience not the bands. The world has moved on so far they don't even count those genres as genres, it's just old music. -
Aye Andy, still have it though I'm pretty sure that one was called black teal. Has a more greenish tinge in real life.
-
That was mine, sold it a few year back.
-
They were relatively short lived. 4 strings were 34" scale length while 5'ers went to 35". Both came with the Millennium sweepable Mid EQ , the Millenniums had been discontinued the year before so this was a way to clear obsolete parts. My good friend Gillian owned 2 of the 5'er bolt ons.

Decent basses. Owned a few over the years , down to just 2 these days. Had the bolt on neck 34" scale too.

Just like the world of Classical Music is, hopefully without the Bonamassa clones. -
Store open for trading 22/08/22. Likely he took a well deserved break. Brian works 7 days a week, often doing 12 hour shifts.

This carpenter thinks you're better off using brollys 👍

I did wall hanging in the old house but since I hate decorating there'll be no holes to fill in this place.

I miss the days when selling outside the UK was easier 👍

@ReeV0 Like the lads have said it's VAT on the bass/shipping/insurance + import duty. Then there's 2 other things to consider. Admin fee for collecting VAT/Duty. About £10 Exchange rates. XE currency converter is showing £1 = $1.20. Sadly there's little chance you'll get that. RBS, Halifax and Natwest rates are £1 = $1.16; Halifax have a £9.50 handling fee. Rate with PayPal is just $1.15 + £3 handling fee. Credit cards fare slightly better , around $1.17, but most carry a % handling fee

The "I own a Harley Benton" show-tell thread!
kodiakblair replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
HBZ has a light poly satin finish and I don't think they mask the pickup cavities before spraying. Years back I worked for an office furniture place. In summer time it wasn't uncommon to arrive at the client's place only to find finish had softened with the heat. Stuff was dry when we took it from the spray shop. Residue might just have been uncured finish.- 38 replies

The "I own a Harley Benton" show-tell thread!
kodiakblair replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
No there's solid thinking behind your theory. Years back David Ellefson designed a bass for Peavey, it had the stock PJs they were buying from Korea. Marketing dept weren't too happy about that so changed the PJs to Duncan Basslines. The Megadeath fella didn't think the Duncans were an improvement so questioned the decision ; he was told $30 spent on brand name pickups translated to a $300 price hike for retail. Following year he left the company 👍- 38 replies

Tune BEAD , put capo across 3rd fret. Bass is now DCGF and the high fret is taken out of the equation 👍

Thankfully the Force is not neodymium strong with those Entwistle pickups. Placing them that close together would see the wee Stormtrooper fella decapitated when they snapped together 😃
