String spreaders. The blue tool is a fret clamp, you fit different radius cauls in the slot.

Red pliers things - fret pullers. Black thing next to them. Fret tang nippers.

It matters not a jot what the logo looks like nor the patent number, neither apply to this bass. -

Looks like a Jedson. Re-brand Teisco imports back in the 70's. -
Don't the ends of the tuners accept a hex key ? On my headless the knurled part is just to bring the strings to a slight tension, then you tune properly with the hex key.

Westone bass guitars - what do people think of them?
kodiakblair replied to CathalOC's topic in Bass Guitars
Sid Poole designed those and Status Graphite were involved in some capacity. Not quite sure what the capacity was but they were selling off the unused necks/bodies as a job lot when the venture petered out. -
Westone bass guitars - what do people think of them?

Westones have caused me to ruffle the feathers of plenty USA Peavey owners. I find it difficult to bite my tongue when folks are praising early Peavey designs, they're near Stone Age π It was 1985 before Peavey released an active bass and 1988 before they managed neck through models. Westone were offering both in 1981 !! My 83 Thunder III. Isn't she lovely π -
Yamaha,Fender and Roland also were named in the UK's price fixing case last year. Fender admitted their involvement, cost them a cool Β£4.5 million fineπ
-
I'll join you in this minority. Tried light weight basses before, Danelectros and a Paulownia build. They did not sit well with me. Anything over 9lb suits me just fine.

Not in my experience. I used Bentons as an inexpensive way to try different styles of basses, nearly always broke even when moving them on. Price rises played a part but mostly buyers were going the risk-free route, a well set up bass with no issues. Only time I really lost money was selling to a pal, "mate's rates" cost me a whopping Β£20 on a Β£200 purchase.

Frank thoughtfully put a couple of Retrovibe necks up for grabs π 2 messages later my Dano/Mosrite build moves a step closer. A very easy fella to deal with and one I have no hesitation about future dealings with. Regards Davie

Bought 2 sets of tuners from John last week. A first class Basschatter if ever there was π Regards Davie

So folks should avoid Westone due to your experience of one bass, a used one from Crack Converters no less ? -
Saw Ian had a piezo preamp up for sale. My piezo 51 slab body build just moved on a pace π Ian's a Top Man , no hesitation in recommending him to others.
-
Have a Dano build just about to start and Andy had a bridge for it π Completely painless transaction. Andy's a great guy, no qualms about any future dealings π

I like the Fishman Platinum Pro. Some folk think it's just for upright but it handles electric bass for me π Light and compact, great range of frequencies covered by the 5 band EQ. Comes with a tuner and compressor.
-
I'm with the folks suggesting the Behringer, great wee thing π
-
@xgsjx "Sunny Stenny" . Is that home of the Warriors ? If it is then Central Scotland FB page has a G&L L2500 Tribute in Glasgow for Β£500, Warwick Streamer STD 5'er, also in Glasgow Β£350.

Regret selling this one π’

Peavey Zephyr. EU only model, released before the Grind. Same bass also appeared as the Mania VBT. First built by Inyen Vina in Vietnam, IYV still build them but with a different peghead. @Burns-bass That's not a BZ-5000 , it comes from long before their release in 2014. Predates the HBZ fretless too. Couple of things stand out. The BZ have 3 band active EQ so are 5 not 4 knob, BZ are gloss finish, BZ don't have the Peavey style harpoon peghead.

INCOMING Harley Benton HBO-850 Acoustic Bass

OK, can't see how removing a 0.6mm veneer will ruin a Β£120 bass but you never know. -
INCOMING Harley Benton HBO-850 Acoustic Bass

Mate of mine in Kenya has one of these. To save any QC hassles he gets the goodies sent to me, I give them the once then off they go to the shipping agent in London. Afraid I never payed the slightest attention to the inlays. Oh, you can swap the nut, replace the tuners, try another piezo element or change the preamp. In other words, you can mod it easily enough.
