With a £500 budget I'd be looking for a Peavey TL-5.
It's the model they had Tim Landers help design and their first dedicated 5'er.
Here's the 6'er flanked by both versions of the 5'er.
I'm with you there Stew.
Last week I was asked to put an Entwistle neo in a mate's PB-20, I think it's overkill. I much prefer how Alan just went with a standard wire count and stronger magnet to boost the output as opposed to SD going with a higher wire count, and the resulting change in tone, for their boost.
Entwistles can be a bit overpowering but that's why we have a vol pot 😃
They're certainly loud. Scary loud tbh.
When I A/B'd them against Duncan QP's , the mixer showed a huge jump in output.
Duncan QP
Entwistle Neos
BTW. That's same bass, same strings, same pickup heights and same recording settings.
Another pleasant exchange with Lozz.
Me parting with a paltry sum and Lozz sending me an A string retainer, arrived so fast I think Pony Bob Haslam delivered it 🙂
Cheers pal 👍
@Bassybert
I've one of the US ones on the way . When it arrives I'll have a better idea of the size.
Plan is get some ring crimp terminals of the correct size then plate them. Largest I can find so far take a 20mm stud.
What do you think the ferrule diameter is ?
Could be as simple as popping the ferrule out, slip the crimping ring over it then slipping it back on the peghead.
I've got it here, already to drop off tomorrow 🙂
However there may be slight hiccup, Brian messaged me half hour back saying he got his Covid jag today and is feeling OK. He'll message me again in the morning if that's still the case. If he's floored I can always drop them off at his house 👍
Bonus bit of good news.
The same PG fits the standard black and the stealth black 😎
Better made I'd say. T-40's are 6lb of timber with another 6lb of metal bolted on 😱
@Pow_22's bass is definitely a Unity, they got some " best bass " award from Bass Player magazine 🙂
The Dynabass was a bolt on active with 2 single coils, Dynabass/Unity series was a neck through active PJ.
Going L to R. Dyna/Unity, Dyna and then Unity.
To confuse matters these were also sold in the UK as Dynabass/ International Series.
I desperately wanted a Tune Maniac but with little cash bought Washburn instead, if the Nanyo Bass Collections were out I wasn't aware of them.
Started with a Force ABT B-20 in a kind of oyster/ivory finish. It was replaced with a Bass Collection.
Years down the line nostalgia struck.
He's the designer but it's G&B in Korea who build them, they ship them to the NBE factory too.
Bit weird that, Roswell (another Korean outfit) supply NBE the Spector pickups. You'd think they'd use the same place for both.
Peavey's website carries zero info for most of their overseas products.
Afraid I can't give you much. Fury II's were Korean builds from 1999 to 2003. Preamp is +/- 8Db for bass, mids and highs.
