  1. I'll be putting the Peavey collection up for sale soon, have a few with maple boards πŸ‘
  2. That came about purely by accident πŸ™‚ A German YT fella (Corey ?) was reviewing loads of HBs and approached Thomann about a poll for colours. Poll went on a Harley Benton FB group. It was just guitars getting votes until a lefty Canadian (Nerkoids) suggested a lefty Surf Green PB-50, 2 changes for the price of one πŸ˜€ The pair of us posted on every bass forum we could think of asking folk to join the FB group and vote for Nerkoids 😁 Much to the disgust of guitar players wanting yet another colour of SC-450, Nerkoids suggestion came 3rd πŸ‘ Shame Thomann reneged on the colour and went with red.
  3. Sadly Kev and co don't offer their fretless basses in left hand versions 😞
  4. Should you feel nostalgic. I plan on selling my red one πŸ˜€
  5. I got one for the same reason as the OP, to avoid tripping over cables. It did the trick. OP is welcome to have them 😊
  6. Shoot me a PM with your address. I've a Thomann t-bone TWS in the drawer doing nothing. At the very least it'll give you a feel for giving wireless.
  7. Wouldn't think the minimum will high, once you go over 10 units prices start to drop.
  8. My mate's got the HB fretless jazz. Build quality is great, fingerboard is much smoother than my 86 fretless Peavey Foundation. Reasonably heavy at about 12lb. To put in context ,most of my basses are around 12lb . 50something me still thinks it a reasonable weight. Instead of ordering a batch of 200 and those taking up valuable warehouse space, Thomann take requests then place the order when the figures are worthwhile.
  9. The pickup itself makes very little difference, position is king. I put 7 different singles in a P-bass and recorded short clips. Pickups varied with DCR, most were alnico 5, couple were split singles in series/parallel, staggered poles, big 1/4 lb'er poles. One was Β£8 from China. Did a blind test, no names mentioned or materials or the way they were wired. Just asked folk to pick out the Β£8 one. Each pickup had the same number of folk claiming it was the one from China πŸ˜€
  10. I subscribed to his YT content and even signed up to free bit of the academy. That was a few years back, never heard a peep from him since πŸ™‚
  11. Peavey G-bass. 35" scale length, carbon neck, Cirrus preamp. Peavey Forum. Peavey Fury II Peavey T-45 All are active bar the T-45 .
  12. Had a message from Dave last week. He remembered I was building a Stingray and wondered if an Aguilar MM pickup would be of use 😱 Another donation made to his chosen charity πŸ™‚
  13. Jinwan neck, Jess Loureiro and Josi Warman pickups. These are few of my favourite things πŸ™‚ Bass is no slouch either 😎
  14. Oh he definitely had material for clear plates. Start of August I told an American lad to contact Brian regarding a clear plate for his Blue Flower P-bass, I'd handed mine over for the template. 10 days later American lad was back in touch saying thanks, turned out even with delivery and exchange rates Brian's was cheaper than Pickguardian & Pickguard Planet. Added bonus was his plate took just 8 days to arrive instead of the 8 weeks quoted by the other 2 πŸ‘
  15. Send your existing PG to this fella in Glasgow and he'll make you a clear plate. Brian's a good lad and his turnaround is fast. https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/earlpilanz
  16. I was certain they'd say no to any thing under Β£150. Reply was short and to the point, "Unfortunately we are unable to accept any offers for this item."
  17. Got a knock back this morning from G4M to my Β£160 offer.
  18. Well impressed with mine πŸ™‚ Neck is a bit wide but reasonably slim front to back. Different animal from Jazz or P-basses. Serious deep bass from the neck pickup 😎
  19. No idea who the wee lassie is but I've said EC was overrated for near 40 years.
  20. Tomato plant thing Β£9.99 from ebay. Rotating holder. 3M of poly pipe (Β£2.19), compression Tee piece (Β£2.47). Body is fixed to the arm by a plate, bit smaller than the pocket, arm rests on the middle frame support. Long pipe slips over the base of a guitar tripod stand, tool bag is used for ballast. Drape a dust sheet over the top and you're good to go.
  21. Before you do check your jazz neck with a square. To flatten the heel might take 3 - 4 mm. As long as your bridge will allow the saddles to freely move back the removed 3 to 4 mm you can still use the guitarbuild body. Minimum speaking length of a bass string is 34", your saddles will always be more than 34" from the nut so "- 3m" is just a case of winding back the saddles . If you're concerned about the fretboard don't go the whole hog, just do the pocket depth. Think a thicker fret overhang like those found on many 21 fret necks. For a great squared heel neck I'd recommend Wan Guitar on Ali Ex or their ebay store "jinwan". The 2 Tele bass necks I bought are terrific though they'll be too chunky for your needs. Ask them how thick the 38mm nut version is.
  22. One week later and Dave again tops my list of good guys πŸ™‚ He'd a Fender bridge in the toy box and knowing I'd a few slab builds on the table fired it in the post. No money changed hands but he did agree to me making a charity donation. One of BC's finest πŸ‘
  23. Mine is wired like this. White to 1, ground to 2 and battery " - " to 3. Mind, you need a stereo jack socket.
  24. Thanks Stew. Thought it would be handy after seeing John's plight regarding a Tokai, then there was a leftie P-bass in Wolverhampton. Knew a boy our neck of the woods keen to grab a cheap leftie P-bass 😎 Half hour after posting here, John finds out the Tokai has been sold and leftie P-bass boy has changed his mind πŸ˜ƒ
