That was a cracking bass, don't normally care much after I sell a bass. Regret selling that one 😞

UK owners of Hohner Guitars. When they bought the company, "Revelation" was one of the brand names included in the deal 🙂

Stew. If you buy one used try and get a rough idea when the seller bought it. When I took the plate through to Brian so he could make his template it was from the November 2017 run. That plate is good for PB-50's going back to 2013. March 2018 Thomann used a different factory and the plates changed to thinner horns. Dropped the 2018 plate off at the weekend so he now offers both just like @Basscabman said.

Fantastic @meterman

Not my favourite people. If you check their CZK price against the Euro there's quite a difference. I was planning on buying some necks from them so queried it. Their answer took me by surprise. "Euro exchange rates vary so we set our own rate" BBR-2R in Euros is £386 if you check the CZK price it's £331 £55 for the pleasure of paying in Euros ! Told them to invoice me in CZK. Still waiting for invoice 2 months later 🤣

GAS #1 is for a headless 51 P-bass. Will hopefully final shape the body tomorrow 🙂 GAS #2 Another Telecaster bass. Waiting on the bits so I can start winding the wide humbuckers @stewblack I've always fancied the semi hollow Ibanez basses. Think it'll GAS #3 only in reverse neck slab P-bass form 👍

Sent many basses to Europe. Transferwise has been discussed so I'll add shipping labels Go OTT with them. I normally put 2 on each side of the parcel. 6 in total. The handlers can see and scan without the need to be spinning a box hunting for an address. Parcelforce folks always comment and give the thumbs up when they spot the labels.

Was this a mock up ?

Saturday I paid another visit to Reid Timber in Glasgow. Bought a few blanks. A thin 1 piece sapele, torrefied ayous blank and a tulipwood 🙂 The plan was to do most of the machine work on the building site. Plan foiled at the first hurdle. Heard this afternoon no start back until the 16th at the earliest 🤬 Dust sheets came out and the kitchen taken over . Took photos of the blanks but they got lost in the phone somewhere ☹️ Jigsaw blade would likely waver so rough cut is bigger, used this handy washer. Here's the tulipwood. About an hour later I've ended up with this 😃 Just got away with the upper bout on this 😓 I'll stick the template on and router trim tomorrow.

@barrycreed Just heard back from the fella in the States. I copy/paste to save typing 😀 "The neck pickup on Rics are centered at the 24th fret harmonic. The bridge pickup is at the 36th. To compare: my Patriot has the neck pickup 25 3/8” from the nut and the bridge pickup is 29 5/8” from the nut. If you do the conversion from 33.25” to 34” scale, a 4001 has its pickups at 24 7/8” and 29 7/8”" Still not exact but he said close enough. I also asked about the ferrites, against his friends' 4001 and 4003 he reckoned "golden ears" might hear a tiny difference . In a band setting nobody would notice 👍 No idea why this is typing Bold 🤣
-
Patriot just has 1 single coil.
-
Not the first time I've saw this on a Peavey Patriot. The original pickup is at the correct Ric bridge position, allowing for 34" scale of course. Just needs the neck pickup. I know a fella used 2 Peavey ferrites,I could ask him for the neck position. Funny thing is nobody describes Patriots as anything other than a super P-bass 😄
-
You have every right to grin. That's a beauty. Congratulations.

No,I don't think so. Thing is most fakers are 34" scale and sometimes more frets. If they use Ric positions, they look wrong relative to the PG and knobs. That Hondo I picked up recently is 20 fret but 34" scale. If I remember the Ric positions correctly, scaled from 33 1/4" to 34" my neck pickup should centre at 25 1/2" and the bridge at 29 3/4". What I actually have is neck 24 3/4" and bridge at 30 1/2". Basically they've moved the pickups 3/4" to keep the look. That's the Hondo. On my Renegade 4000, the bridge pickup is centred where it should be at 29 3/4" so I suspect on other Renegades the neck position will be correct.

No reason they should be inferior. In the greater bass guitar world, think of the ratio bolt on to set necks . Could anybody even guess the figure ?
-
I think not 😄

Bought a Tele bass scratchplate from Paul on Tuesday. As always it was a hassle free experience 🙂
-
Might be worth searching for the Freya Guitars version. They are an Irish outfit with the same business model.
-
I'm still using the Korg Pandora 🙂
-
They did some good colour options. Probably too many since they went bust after a couple of years 🙁
-
I've seen a couple use guitar rail pickups, they hid the rails with gold covers. Looked bloody awful 🤣 Best bet is ask one of the UK lads to build you one. It's much cheaper than you'd think.

I stuck a Peavey SF in one, being ceramic it was a bit brighter and louder. That wasn't a planned change, dropped a chisel and the wider SF footprint hid the scar 🤣 There's not much to the electrics, 2 pots and a cap. 1 has a 0.1uf cap but that's the opposite of what you're looking for 🙂 Try swapping the 250K tone pot for a 500k, should add some bite 👍
