You're not a beginner so I'm inclined to believe your thoughts regarding the bridge. The magic tweaking of the truss rod is most times a temp fix. Impresses the hell out of beginners and often they think it's all that's needed for a proper set up. Once they tell a couple of pals you can bet there'll be plenty basses with knackered necks in the future.

Bag of goodies arrived from Matt this morning. Top Man to deal with, looking forward to our next bit of business.

Audition or Commodore semi hollow with 3 strings,no buttons on the tuners and pickup held in by brads. Cost me £1. With no amp and banned from using the tape recorder in the music centre , I'd rest the headstock against the cupboard door.

Cheap P bass bodies, chances of fitting?
kodiakblair replied to landwomble's topic in Repairs and Technical
This very similar listing gives sizes for neck pocket. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Muslady-DIY-PB-Style-Bass-Guitar-Body-Barrel-Sycamore-Wood-Unfinished-Parts-W6C4/113838735528?hash=item1a815140a8:g:jFIAAOSwBJxdPoDU -
That's because it is too good to be true. They're sold out 😃

I would stick the £80 Harley Benton PB-20 on your list. It's a decent P-bass for little money. The £125 JB-75 is another fine bass but weighing 12lb might come as a shock to a beginner. The £90 LA and £100 LA II & Louisiana from G4M look interesting, reckon they get the necks same place as Peavey does for Milestones. The £80 alder body P-bass from DV24-7 deserves a mention. Unless the beginner has a pal with some savvy I'd steer them clear of the used market. Too often I see basses with saddles so far out of whack it'll be out of tune beyond the 5th fret, others will need forearms like Garth to play 😃 The best advice is just buy a bass you can afford.

Foundations were alder, ash, maple. Poplar and mahogany were also used. The old Peavey catalogues just put "selected hardwoods" down on the spec sheets. Current spec for Milestone 4 says basswood but I'm sure the natural with maple neck is alder.

That's a Milestone IV, the original Milestones were 6 & 12 string guitars. The Milestone II is similar but had a more traditional scratchplate. Vietnam build puts it early 2000's. It was Korea from 94,then Vietnam,on to China before settling in Indonesia.

I'm pretty good when it comes to Peavey basses. Does your Milestone have the control knobs mounted on a metal plate ?

Sorry @Jimothey ,no idea why I thought I'd get time to install the Noll, my old man had just died. It's on the cards for this weekend 👍

Wal Pro II-E, form an orderly queue
kodiakblair replied to Rich's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Pretty sure I recognise the serial number but not the bass 😃 JG1156 rings a bell for the Wal I sold in Edinburgh back in 1989 but it had a leather scratchplate and the pickups had mini switches built into the surrounds, not on the scratchplate. -
@fleabag That C4 is gorgeous 🙂 Brilliant basses, released right in the middle of Peavey's creative period.

Brilliant. Well chuffed for the pair of you 👍

Reverb was bought over by Etsy last month. Maybe it's a new condition for selling.

Boot space seats down 959L vs Micra S boot space of 589L. For a small car the storage space in the Citigo is massive.

The “other” (American) bass related conversation site.
kodiakblair replied to Quilly's topic in General Discussion
I met up with a TB member last night. His boy is touring the UK and he was over from the US to help with driving etc. Out of the blue he told me he can't stand TB these days. "Too many opinionated Americans with blinkers on" 😃 -

Westone Thunder II - Not sure where to start
kodiakblair replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in Repairs and Technical
Here's a link to the wiring in the hope it helps, http://www.westone.info/wiring/thunder2abass/index.html BTW I'm jealous,always fancied a T-II or T-III -
They started using Chinese factories about 12 year back. Modern Player range were all made there.

Black with tort means a Zodiac BXP. Alder body,rosewood/maple neck 8" radius. Lovely bits of kit. Made in China. "Made in China" is not the usual kiss of death here. When Peavey started sourcing basses from the Far East their top bass designer relocated. The Zodiac had a new body shape and came in 2 flavours. Standard BXP or Dave Ellefson signature model. The Megadeath man thought adding a mirror scratchplate was enough but the marketing folks disagreed. Marketing men won and his Sig bass shipped with the uninspiring Duncan 1/4 pounders. Put Ellefson's neb right out of joint,he later stated the standard pickups were good and the Duncans were only to justify a large price hike 😲 Not sure what else to add. Solid bass, designed to be versatile. Built under the watchful eye of the sorely missed Mike Powers. Cheap as chips. Definitely worth considering should you fancy a PJ. -
No1 for me is the great Dennis Dunaway. He's been a Rotos player not far off 50 year,a wee bit longer than myself 🙂 My experience with Rotos started in 1983 with a set of TruBass tapes,£5 from a closing down sale 👍
