  1. Puts me in mind of a Cabronita Boracho, only in reverse 😃 Those had a TV Jones pickup too. Pretty nifty 🙂
  2. No joke. I-phones are thought to be,by some, the pinnacle of mobile phone tech yet they are made by folks on low wages. It's merely an example of "get what you pay for" on reasonably high priced goods.
  3. Hope you don't own an I-phone 👍
  4. Not sure what you mean by that. Do you think lower paid workers can't produce high standards? I'd say that was nonsense. Minimum wage in Mexico is $9 per day, a cushy factory job will be sought after so workers will be on their toes. Beats working in on a farm. If you low pay means buyers expect lower quality and companies can get away with lesser standard goods then I agree.
  5. Pass a shoelace underneath the knob, make a loop then pull upwards. No chance of slips and scratches. BTW. Was your scratch plate 3 ply or have Thomann followed the big F and went with single ply these days ?
  6. No. Not even close I'm afraid.
  7. Nice little earner for somebody. Pretty sure that bass sold on eBay end of July for £341. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Awesome-Partscaster-Relic-039-51-Telecaster-Bass-Not-Fender-Not-Squier-/323859997411?hash=item4b678f62e3%3Ag%3AtKQAAOSwudBdLgex&nma=true&si=ROjRO9ZZjNtTW7ESk5qfa7pH3NY%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  8. Fella over on Talkbass is over the moon with his PJ-75 VW, £50 over your £100 budget 😞 https://www.talkbass.com/threads/i-own-a-harley-benton-club.1123735/page-321#post-23095149 i owned the 4 string PJ HTR a few years back. TBH don't remember much about it,that's not a negative cause I'd remember if it was crap 🙂
  9. Can't beat it 🙂 Put a 0.1 cap in my pine slab body, have a single overwound to 28k in the pipeline to join it 😎
  10. If you read the blurb the main man retired from "Finances" and this was a good stress-free way to fill his time, can't argue with that 🙂 Limiting the options to passive only/no 5 strings will help keep him stress-free. The big pickup rout allows for most option + less work. The stencils reduce finishing time + less work. Doubt the fella needs to do more than 1 or 2 a week to tick over and keep the pension fund intact. Wish them the best of luck. p.s. I don't recall many complaining about the Cort headstock, this Bite is really just the Cort reversed
  11. Then leave as is. I'd made up templates for BC'ers but I never did the reshape to any of mine until that post last year. Still have one from 2014 with the HB headstock.
  12. It's ten minutes work. I was 2 hours tops on this. That included smoke/coffee breaks, taking photos and cleaning up.
  13. I've never had any problems with the pots or jack socket on my PB-50, 5 years down the line and still going strong 👍 Totally agree with Hooky regarding playing the PB first before deciding on a pickup swap. 1 alnico V single sounds pretty much like another. Bought an £8 single from China, just for the hell of it I recorded a scale using it and 4 other singles. Stuck the clips up on Talkbass and asked folks to guess which was the Chinese cheapie. From 600 views only 20 responded 😞 Funny thing was it was an even result, each pickup got 4 votes 🙂 Interesting thing about the Roswells is the pole pieces,it's the same Alnico V slugs as the Duncan 1/4lb'er. Don't think it's overwound to the same extent as the 1/4lb'er as it's a bit warmer.
  14. Bought a Behringer P1 from Sean. Dead easy purchase. Hes a Top fella.
  15. My favourite style of bass, I really should sell all the others. A couple have hum-cancelling singles. Most also have 2 saddle bridges. Have to say the reissues from Japan are excellent.
  16. Could it be a very young Coco Cunningham ?
  17. Or do you punt the body ? I may know a Scotsman who'd be interested
  18. CITES wasn't a problem then. Norwegian customs were playing safe.
  19. Should not matter. The Mexican factory is owned and run by Fender, they set the QC conditions nd decide the parts used. The cynic in me thinks it's deliberate so folks spend the extra for USA.
  20. Bought a bass from Hungary, arrived in 6 days with no hiccups. Must have bought 4 or 5 from Germany, 3 to 4 days for arrival. Again no problems. Sent a bass to Norway, not technically an EU country. Forgot to include 3 copies of the customs paperwork and it was tugged for CITES. DHL got in touch both times, printed the extra copies and passed on my declaration there was no rosewood. That caused a 24 delay. Not bad for £24 delivery charge 🙂
  21. My intention of buying a slug gun were quashed by 2 pals learning guitar. "You can play bass" they said. Boy down the road was selling one,Commodore semi-hollow. Mine was green, the pots were mounted on a piece of ply as there was a big hole in the body. Stuffed with paper if I mind right 😃 Pickup screws had been replaced by brad nails. Buttons on the tuning pegs were missing, used pliers to tune it's 3 strings. Aye it only had 3 strings. Cost me £1 😲 Folks banned me from using the tape recorder in the music centre so I'd rest the headstock against cupboard door while trying to play along with Jim Gregory's"Play Bass Guitar" book. First amp was a Badger Bassman .
  22. You're not a beginner so I'm inclined to believe your thoughts regarding the bridge. The magic tweaking of the truss rod is most times a temp fix. Impresses the hell out of beginners and often they think it's all that's needed for a proper set up. Once they tell a couple of pals you can bet there'll be plenty basses with knackered necks in the future.
  23. Bag of goodies arrived from Matt this morning. Top Man to deal with, looking forward to our next bit of business.
  24. Audition or Commodore semi hollow with 3 strings,no buttons on the tuners and pickup held in by brads. Cost me £1. With no amp and banned from using the tape recorder in the music centre , I'd rest the headstock against the cupboard door.
  25. This very similar listing gives sizes for neck pocket. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Muslady-DIY-PB-Style-Bass-Guitar-Body-Barrel-Sycamore-Wood-Unfinished-Parts-W6C4/113838735528?hash=item1a815140a8:g:jFIAAOSwBJxdPoDU
