  1. Have you got one of the flamed maple tops under the paint ? Really pretty with flamed maple πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ž I went for gold hardware (on advice of ex-friend),active preamp and Warman jazzbar pickups
  2. It's a Peavey Zephyr. Cracking bass, gets the Americans all in a tizzy cause it's a European only model 😎
  3. I had a Kay EB100 (tulip bass). It did go on the bonfire πŸ˜ƒ
  4. Those would be tough terms. I've one of every Peavey bass and the variations like 1st and 2nd generation TL-5s,4 types of Fury etc . If I sold the TL-6 I'd have a Panini sticker book with a blank space πŸ™
  5. I forgot about this one 😱 Don't know how, it's been on it's stand daring me to try playing it for about 18 months now 😁 Peavey TL-6
  6. Can't see it being much of a problem for us Europeans,. Both Guitar Center and Musician's Friend block IP addresses from the EU in case we sue them for selling our details to tele-marketers 😁
  7. Rare ? In 34 years I've only tracked down 4 owners of these extended board fretless Maniacs. 1 in Japan (to be expected).1 in Italy, another in Australia (his had a faulty neck and sadly the replacement sent was the 2 octave model). Last one was with a fella in Edinburgh,I never saw any photos he just offered to sell me his πŸ˜„ Danny from Bass Japan told me he'd not seen one for years. I was smitten from the second I saw the review in Guitarist mag 😎 If you're interested there's a lad in Birkenhead was the more common but still rarer than hen's teeth 2 octave version for sale. Will I get his details ?
  8. Tapes on a P-bass ??? My favourite combo ever since I bought a set of Rotos for Β£5. OK it was 83 but I was stony broke 😁 If you've also bought Rotos the E is .115.pretty sure it is. There's a school of thought says the nylon will contract over time into the nut slot. Never happened with me,I filed the slot. Another thing I remember about Rotos is they have serious "thump". The thump is more pronounced than the note and takes a bit getting your ear used to it. Could be part of your trouble. La Bellas and the sadly discontinued Status tapes come in standard gauges, also have more notes than thumps 😎 I'd order up another nut if any cutting is on the cards. If you go back to roundwound just put the original nut back on πŸ‘
  9. I played safe and stuck mine on FB for £120 😎
  10. I'll be surprised, and over the moon, if it reaches Β£140 πŸ™‚ Going to put my luthite body Curbow up for sale this weekend and I thought Β£90 was the going rate πŸ˜„
  11. @jrixn1 has or had one. Maybe he'll see the tag and weigh in with his opinion.
  12. You're right, with a wee jig Steve could get those holes bang on every time. Probably take less time πŸ™‚ Folks have moaned about the string through holes for years and he takes not a blind bit of notice, you can bet he does it on purpose 😁
  13. @The Greek The great thing about the negative comments is Steve's reaction to them, he doesn't care two hoots 😎No reason why he should care, he builds things his way and at his own pace. Enough folk buy them to keep him busy and those folk want see him continue. After the shop fire wiped him out,the gofundme reached 1st goals within days, locals donated tools/materials and he was back in business a month or so later πŸ‘ BTW did you get an Ovation electric guitar vibe from that lower bout ?
  14. @Muzz Steve drills the holes like that on purpose and for the same reason he'll fill some splits/wormholes but leave others, they're hand built $100 per string basses !! Wishbasses were built in Steve's shed with the minimum of power tools, they're meant to look rough and ready/full of rustic charm 😎 Even in his new premises with more tools he still builds the same and it works. Most of his customers, the hillbilly folks, could easy buy Chinese or Indonesian gear for less money but it goes against the "MAGA" ethos πŸ˜„ Not all are rough and ready, these 3 were exhibits in the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The other is a lovely snakewood Lobe over in Vienna.
  15. My pal Rick Wilson did the renovation work on the one in the Seattle museum.
  16. That's a lovely bit of work from Steve. Seller's asking price is well OTT,shame or I'd make him an offer 😎
  17. Pack it in and enjoy your life. You could return refreshed, look how keen Blue is after his 20 odd year break.
  18. Great post. If things ever go awry with my Tune Maniac I'll be having a word with John 😎 No mags to worry about, just the piezo.
  19. I want bass playing to suit the song. I don't care what bass the fella's playing or his favourite brand of strings . That goes for pub bands and the big names πŸ‘
  20. @discreet shipped me a bass this week with UPS. Collected south London Monday afternoon about 4pm,deliverd Falkirk/Central Scotland lunchtime on the Tuesday. Set plenty basses via courier with UPS and never a hitch, once all the way to Ghana. Also DPD were great when a bass got pulled by customs in Norway, they contacted me straight away then dealt with customs. Buyer got his bass next day. When booking a courier, double check addresses/contact details and times. Pack everything secure and stiffen corners with extra cardboard. Print 2 or 3 times the require labels then stick them to each side of the parcel.
  21. Buy it πŸ‘ The neck's should be proper P-bass wide but double check, a rogue batch got shipped with 38mm jazz necks. Not too light in weight, decent hardware and cracking set of pickups. The neck's quite slim in profile. Revelation is a UK company so that's another good reason for buying one 😁
  22. Couple of folk have mentioned the Revelation RPBX. I'd planned on building a similar bass for ages but sometimes it's prudent just to buy one 😎
  23. Sad news @discreet has no P-bass 😱I should feel terrible but his PB-50 plays and sounds too goodΒ πŸ˜ƒ

Don't worry  Mark, it's in safe hands 😎

Mark's much talked about PB-50 arrived in Scotland this morning. Conversation went like this Mark - "Dave, I'm thinking of selling the PB. You interested ?" Me - " Give me 24 hrs to shift 22 stone of speakers." then "bank transfer or PP ? " As easy as that 😎 Cheers Mark, hope your next P-bass arrives soon.
  25. TI's on the P-basses except for the one with Status tapes, was heartbroken when the tapes went out of production 😭
