  1. I bought a YOB bass, probably for the same reason as yourself "it's a YOB" 😃 Realised it's a bloody stupid idea 😃 Nobody really cares if you tell them. A newspaper from your D.O.B they can read but a bass built overseas by strangers ? Glad you posted, reminded me to dig mine out the back of the cupboard and punting it pronto 👍
  2. Sorry @MGB forgot to post back. I've only had 1 reply. The suggestions were go with UPS or DPD. Link for DPD https://www.dpd.com/nl/business_customers/hulp_en_tools/hulp_bij_het_verzenden/verzend_richtlijnen/omvang_en_volume_gewicht_calculator Cheers
  3. Offer of 2 free Peavey cabs was not to be missed. Trouble was cabs weigh 156lbs each and I live on top floor 🙂 Problem now solved, one step at a time 👍

71Kg - that's my weight?! 80s Roadies must be laid up with back problems in their old age now!

I like massive woofers!  Hooters are cool too.

  4. I always think Fenders are like Levi jeans. At the start they were decent and dependable wear for working folk, got "must have, trendy brand" status, then kicked into touch by the designer jeans fad. Now still bought by folks who grew up qwearing them and youngsters being Retro 😃 I'm a Wrangler's man myself 😎
  5. It was scratchplate and plectrum when I started playing , It shall remain scratchplate and plectrum until I'm dead 😉 I don't care if folk use other terms,I just wont change mine to make them happy. I also prefer machinehead to tuner though when talking with my old pal I may use tuning peg. He calls a headstock a peghead so not much I can do there 😁
  6. Aye, regret selling it. Built one similar but of course its not the same 😐
  7. That's odd, when I put mine up for grabs it sold in minutes 👍 Buyer already owned one so it was a no-brainer 🙂 Think it must've been one of the loudest basses I've ever had.
  8. You should have a word with Kev at Revelation,
  9. Digi calipers read 42.17mm. Has some bugger swapped the neck ? Got the Wilkinson endowed jazz bass very late Sunday. After 2 year with no strings or tuners it took a few days to settle down.Mate has messed about with this Harley Benton something terrible but that's another story 😂 Great pickups those Wilkinsons, quite bright and quite loud. The volume surprised me,couple of year back I stuck Entwistle Neos in a Peavey Zodiac DE. A/B'd against my other Zodiac DE (stock Duncan Basslines) the Entwistles were easy twice the output 👍 I really shouldn't have been suprised,my mate Claudio's A/B with the Wiliknson SC vs Duncan SC showed the same low output from the Duncan. The double split-P Neos in the Revelation were a bit louder but not a huge amount, they were a bit brighter too. I'll need to look at pot/cap values as rolling off the tone was impressive, deep but not wooly. Had no bother swapping between the Harley Benton and the Rev, the 38mm Benton neck is quite thick whereas the 42mm Rev neck is quite slim. Good handful of wood with either 😱
  10. @MGB You'd think a major trading centre like the Netherlands would have the busiest/easiest parcel services around. From what I've found it's the complete opposite 😠 GLS in Luxemborg allow 150cm maximum length, you already know that's not the case in the Netherlands. DHL have online booking everywhere, when I tried DHL.NL it's call or fill out a form and await their reply ☹️ I fully expect them saying 100cm limit same as Post NL. Could it be connected to local regs on manual handling ? I know a couple of Dutch bass players so I ask them what services they use and get back to you.
  11. @MGB I never had any problems shipping basses due to size, shipped a bass to Africa once. All were sent as a private individual too. Even when handing in at collection points was no problem. Maybe phone GLS again but have their FAQ page open in front of you. If they start saying no can do, point out they're talking rubbish.
  12. @MGB I just checked Gls. Maximum length is 200cm,maximum girth is 300cm. Bass case 150cm by 45cm by 15cm is no problem. Length + 2x width + 2x height is 270cm.
  13. I saw the photo and things were looking very cramped. Was no harm in trying 😎
  14. Last Friday I had tickets for Cloudbursting at the Oran Mor in Glasgow, our own @sprocketflup performs the bass duties. Sadly my old mam had a stroke that afternoon so I missed the gig ☹️ Good news was Cloudbursting were back in Scotland the following week, playing our town hall 👍 Great evening and by christ Mandy can sing. Any folks here appreciate Kate Bush ? Well get your backsides along to see Cloudbursting. http://cloudbustingkatebushtribute.com/index.html
  15. Cracking basses. Mine is still going strong at 30 years old.
  16. It's a crap title but "It's a Revelation " was much worse 😉
  17. I hold certain members of BC responsible for this latest NBD. Few year back there was a post on Revelation guitars and this eejit had a look at their site, always a dangerous move 🙂 The P-bass looked good, there's a cracking jazz model and there was the RPBX. Double split-P basses always catch my interest and when those split-Ps are Entwistle Neos I knew I was doomed. Kept strong for a couple of years then the RPB-65 post start of this week caused me to crack 🤬 Ordered the bass on Tuesday night,UK Mail dropped it off on Thursday morning. A tidy sunburst bass was in the box 🙂 My lightest T40 weighs 10.5lb,this weighs-in at 10lb so pretty decent weight-wise. Neck has a gloss finish and there's a nice bit of maple under there. Good fret work and the wide/slim profile is comfortable. Balances great. Controls are simple - 2 vol,1 tone. The basic BBOT has been placed perfectly 👍 Bass came strung with roundwound 😕 Not really a huge fan of RWs and when they're getting sent through Entwistle Neos it's too much for this fella 😄 Changing the pickup height along with adjustable pole pieces I'm sure I could fine tune . When you 22 sets of flats in the cupboard though why bother. First pack I grabbed were TIs 😎 I'll try and borrow a Harley Benton JB-75 with Wilkinsons over the weekend. See how Trev's pickups compare against Alan's.
  18. The deed is done. Double PBXN jazz bass in sunburst/tort is on the way 🙂 Fateful excuse " I'll sell a couple to make room" along with "need to use those nectar points" was all it took. ETA sometime Thursday 👍
  19. Revelation is an old Hohner brand. Sutherland Trading brought it back with input from ex-Hohner man Alan Entwistle. The RPBX has been on my "want to try" list for ages. Still never played one so can't comment but I know the Entwistle pickups are scary loud 🙂 https://www.revelationguitars.co.uk/guitar/rpbx/
  20. It was all Burns for my old pal's band. They were ticked up to the hilt but saved money on stage clothes, drummer worked for Burton's Menswear and "borrowed" suits 😃
  21. I got no joy with any of the hydro-dip folks I contacted nor from a local guy who does guitar finishes. Guess Paisley pink is too much for them ☹️ Undeterred I bought another Axe Decal skin.Still failed to get the skin round the edges 🤬I built up 5 coats of boat varnish round the edges and sanded out the skin to wood join 👍Went too far with the pink burst so removed it but the bass really looks better with a burst. 4th or 5th,maybe 6th, attempt at the burst it reacted with something and wrinkled 🤬 Sod it, the wrinkles are in heavy wear areas so I didn't clear coat them too heavy,it'll relic soon enough 😎 The 51 split-coil from Jess Louerio sounds fantastic wired in series, intonation is within 1 or 2 %. Not bad with a 2 saddle bridge 👍The chromes are on the shoogly peg 😉
  22. Ah Bollocks. I've a Sound Canvas you could've had 😆
  23. Shame the "Black Album" is missing. Getting on for 30 year but I never tire of BobGeorge 😎
