They were never for sale as an aftermarket item, least I never found them. Checked now and again over a 3 year period, always drew a blank.

It'll be The Queers next month then the Meteors.

£40 for a Wilkinson pickup ??? Never knew folk paid that for them.
-
@Jack It's 4 year since I bought my first PB-50, I actually ended up buying 3 in quick succession Getting ready to buy No4,Im just waiting to see what the Fiery Red looks like. If you don't like the Roswell, though I heard from a fella on Friday that it's a decent pickup, £40 to £75 will get you a replacement and you'll have a belter of a bass for less than Squier Affinity money

I tried the JB-75 with Roswell pickups today, can't say I noticed any real difference from the Wilkinson JB-75 I had.
-
Wouldn't hold back on my account, though I warn you I'm not the slightest bit interested in what you watch on the telly.

OK successful pop band but still only a pop band. Did they cure cancer, bring about world peace ? No they wrote some pop songs.
-
Rarely bother reading posts on a band I've little interest in. I mind some kids at primary school listening to them but that all stopped when punk started. Each generation thinks theirs was the important one, kind of conceited thinking.

Never heard anybody describe the Beatles as anything other than a pop band. If Paul hadn't sung you'd have stopped posting long ago. It's the singing bit that put him out front, not playing bass.
-
Daft claim " no-one heard of electric bass before the Beatles " Here's my old pal Hector MacLean in his heyday. The lads ticked themselves to the hilt for the Burns gear as soon as they saw the ad in the music papers. That photo was very early 60's,they stopped making the Burns Artist bass in 1963 so it's no later than that. So you've got 6 fellas from tiny mining villages scattered around Central Scotland all kitted out with the latest Burns gear including an instrument nobody had heard off.

Looks great Tom. Matching headstock was a must Did you buy the scroll saw ?

Vigier Arpegge - 41 bids @£520
kodiakblair replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
@fleabag Not sure there is anything wrong with it. My guess is folk buy it to get the feel of a Vigier. Play the Vigier for 6 month and know they're amazing Then they look at this and think " Bloody Hell, why did I buy the one with the plastic cups hiding holes of unknown purpose ?" So they sell it, buy a pristine Vigier and live happily ever after -

That's the 2nd or 3rd time it's been on eBay in 2 year. Still can't think of a plausible reason for the extra holes on the front face. -
And who cares what you think ?

Macca probably agrees with QJ

In the entertainment industry it's a job very well done.

I've long thought Bruno was recycling other folks tunes. "Locked out of Heaven" had a distinct Sting vibe going on. Not a thing I have a problem with,as an old punk I'm hardly his target audience The lad's selling records and folk are happy, that's a job well done in my book.

Solid and Inexpensive Fretless Guidance Please
kodiakblair replied to mr4stringz's topic in Bass Guitars
A friend of mine swears by his Harley Benton JB-40FL. It's a solid bit of kit and if pressed he'll admit he preferred his Overwater but it was sold years ago The newer models comply with CITES regs so no rosewood board and the Wilkinson pickups have been dropped for Roswell. £140 and no quibble return policy makes it worth thinking about. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_40fl_sb.htm -

Always great to see a PB-50 post That's a particularly fine job you've done Mark. The whole thing looks bang on. Still one of my favourite basses though I'd like to try the Squier effort, just so I can experience the pine "tonewood" Not a slur as I'don't subscribe to the tonewood idea. Regarding the weight of PB-50s none of the 3 I've owned weighed more than 9.5lb

The operator of new camera (me) is useless. The back of the neck has an almost metallic sheen to it that I can't get in focus . @ped Serial number is 1148 and according to a fella in Germany it was one of 5 builds on 27/11/96
