1. Sloppy Seconds. The First 7 Inches, and then some !!
2. Wanted to wrestle bears like the fella Andy up in Callendar, Some boy called Adams was using the Grizzly moniker so I went for the big bears instead. Things got kinda silly with my ex,she's called Honey
3. I'll follow the herd and buy another one. OK at £2 better make that 2
4.
Doesn't matter why they were there, the 40k were there and they paid dearly. Nothing is cool anymore. I've been told,"No,"it's you that isn't cool anymore. Your generation had they're time.Your all old now, and it's long over due that you should just get out of the way." It's not a bad point. Blue
When the topic is overrated bands the reason folks attend does matter.Very few of the audience paying big bucks will leave saying it was a poor gig.Nope it'll be " They were amazing," "so much energy" & "best show I've ever saw" Which leads to the question. If a bunch of near 70 year olds is the best band you've saw, what other bands have you seen ? I don't mind the "You're old and past it" thing from young folks. It's true
5.
How many 70 year olds can fill 40 thousand seats? The Stones & Paul McCartney. Blue
A large percentage of those 40K are there just so they can say they went. When folks visit the Louvre, plenty gush about the Mona Lisa. Great painting for a postage stamp. Therein lies the hype
6. Definitely no DI on the Pandora. Great wee box though I use mine when trying out basses.
7. Tom was having a clear out of flats. Dead easy fella to deal with. Cheers Tom
8. Not much of a manual ped but here it is anyway :-) https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8zq5ubjeadzxt1/Bass%20Expander.pdf?dl=0
9. Lw OT but is Chicago Meatpackers still on the corner of Shaftsbury Ave and Charing Cross Rd ? Opposite was a huge banner proclaiming " Cheapest Chinese Food in West End". Think Marquee was 2 doors up. It's probably long gone, like my youth
10. Thomann have confirmed the phantom power doesn't work on these. Sales had been changed to request only, imagine buyers will get an email explaining the issue to save the returns hassle. I'm keeping the pedal
11. Heard back from a few other owners. Nobody's unit works via phantom power !! The pedal now sells "by request only" until the factory sorts this out. The £20 refund buys plenty of batteries so I'm not complaining too much
12. Try heating them up,maybe with hot water, and sticking them in a press. Under a pile of heavy books would do as well. Some of the Peavey scratchplates are prone to warping and a mate recommended leaving them out in the sun, must have forgot I live in Scotland
13. Bought a wee caline EQ from Chris. Dead easy fella to do business with. Got a tracking number from him yesterday and the pedal appeared today Can't see how that could get any better. Hope to have further dealings with Chris.
14. @funkydoug Aye it's good wee unit but the phantom power doesn't work on mine and Thomann aren't covering themselves in glory about fixing it. I've still not pushed the Gain much but the find the blend really handy. Like anything it works different with different basses. SC P-bass with flats was easy to sound great, active 5 string with roundwounds I'm still trying to get there. I've spotted it sold under a couple of different names. Modtone is one, Eleca is the other. The Modtone has a video review up already.
15. Cheers pete. The spec says it needs 40mA max to power it, the recommended power supply is rated 500mA. I'm trying to find specs for the Hartke Bass Attack as it works prefectly with both mixers via phantom power. I'm more confused than normal
16. 2nd time buying from Mike. Top fella. Peavey Dynabass 5'er has joined the clan. No messing about with Mike, deal gets struck an that's that The Man's a credit to BC.
17. @Al Krouw Not much chance of trying one here yet. B&M the UK distributor can't give any details and Sweetwater over in the US wont ship them to the UK. Another seller in the US told me they wouldn't ship as they have rosewood boards. I took this up with Peavey themselves asking " What the bloody hell you doing releasing a bass with restricted materials ?" and " What idiot approved the idea, has he since started work with your competitors ?" Peavey replied saying all Cirrus came with CITES paperwork but gave no answers to my other questions. Sweetwater started taking pre-orders end of Feb this year but as yet I've only found 2 reviews. Oh there's plenty of opinions but most of them are confused with the earlier BXP Cirrus, and most of them are further confused and concern the later 34" scale mega cheapie BXP. Here lies a big problem. The only place so far to buy the re-issue is in the US,getting honest reviews from Americans on products outsourced to the Far East is neigh on impossible. This Scotsman would be hard pressed to admit Indian Whisky was Whisky, but I would drink it Anyway the only honest IMO opinion I heard from Tony in St Louis (TB'er Dr Cheese). He reckoned the re-issue nailed the Cirrus tone (very mid intense) and felt the build was nearly as good as the discontinued US models. The "Power Plate" throws a few folk but it's only a sales point, the patent on the old "FatHead" plate expired years back so this is Peavey's take on it. The Cirrus is a reasonably lightweight bass,2 of mine will around 8-8.5lb. Have Gotoh tuners and ABM bridges,3 band EQ and are 35" scale. As to how they compare to other basses is a toughie, they were top of the line for Peavey and I've never owned anybodyelse's top of the line bass
18. Aye. Swapped the cable and tried all 4 channels. Got same result, the bloody thing don't work. Oh well now starts another round of email sending
19. The Harley Benton Bass Expander says it works off phantom power and I thought it did till it stopped working Opening up the box I found a 9v connected so I swapped mixer incase the mixer wasn't kicking out enough juice. The Alesis has 4 XLR so should easily power a 9v pedal. But it didn't Returned the unit to Thomann and yesterday I got the exact pedal back (matching serial numbers) with a 9v fitted again. I'm getting the same results. When connected to mixer with no battery the lights are dim and zero volume. It works great using dc or the battery. Thinking it may need a battery in place to complete a circuit I stuck a dead 9v in but that didn't work,no lights or sound. Anybody came across phantom power that needs a battery to work ? I'm giving the pedal the benefit of the doubt as the original mixer was a wee Behringer and may not have been up to scratch. What's your thoughts folks, faulty mixer or faulty pedal ?
20. I bought the Kinsman stand last year which has extendable legs and neck rest.No problem for my DB even fully extended. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003BNHJFW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
21. Following on from my post 3 year back I did put Entwistle Neo's in the Zodiac DE. Bloody hell they are loud Easily twice as loud as my other Zodiac with it's stock Duncan Basslines.
