1.
Haha, no rush Davie. Cheers matey.
Shamed myself into action Lewis. Template transfered to MDF, just warming up the saw now. Will be posted tomorrow. edit No longer shamed :-) Cut,shaped and sanded .
2. The PB-50 with Super-Ferrite/TI jazz flatscombo definitely is a winner Mind you the fact my PB-50's all had great necks, working tuners and decent bridges helped.
3.
How many have you got??
I briefly had 3. 1 was a "deko" bought for parts, quick fix later and it went to a pal's lad. Sold my 1st one, with the lovely roasted maple type grain on thefretboard, last month to a BC'er. Just my trusty Peavey SF powered PB-50 left
4. Looking and sounding great. Makes me want another one
5. Don't know about the factory fretless but the serial number says 1994. Have one myself. If it sells for £200 I'll be upping the house insurance
6. Those are stunners alright The house here is overrun by Peaveys so I doubt there'll be more basses. Dave-K can be very persuasive so the Super-P is going nowhere.
7.
they look like they make some nice bass's like this one but would prefer the squared head not the P bass type. great value, do they play well. http://chownybass.co...chowny-vantage/
Never played one since Chowny took over production but I had 5 of the original Retrovibe basses and they were great basses. Really wish I hadn't sold the Evo
8.
Couldn't find the gold paint! It was your kindly-donated template I used for the headstock, thanks.
Was happy to help That reminds me I promised LewisK one. Better get the saw out this weekend
9. Looking good. Still preferred the gold scratchplate though
10. 1400 euros is big money for a first bass. Of course the Sandberg is a great bass and will serve you well for many years. If you decide bass is the instrument you want to play ! I'd suggest returning it and spend the next few weeks trying many different basses. You have a very good budget so the one you choose will not depend on money but what feels right. Don't get catch up with brands and prices there's great basses out there at all prices. Like PaulGibsonBass I've basses costing £1-2K but I spend most of my time playing a £90 Harley Benton .
11. RetractionTime Got bum info from US eBay seller. Mike Brown at Peavey CS just sent me an email saying yes they're rosewood but the CITES paperwork is included with each bass. Indonesia asked for an abstention until July this year if I mind right. Off to Retract moans elsewhere now
12. Something is seriously wrong in Meridian. The ELF saga is bad but the Cirrus tale is worse January 2016 they annouce the Cirrus re-issue,I contact B&M but they can't tell me anything. Sweetwater start taking pre-orders in Feb 2017. Again B&M have no info so I contact SW,they can't ship to the UK.Dealer protection rules. There's been a few on American eBay and last week I contact a seller. This is where it gets bloody stupid. I ask about the fretboard,SW have it as Pau Ferro. The seller has copy/paste the blurb from the Peavey website which states a rosewood fretboard. In fact the specs for every model say a rosewood board and no paperwork regarding CITES. Yes folks 1 month after the ruling on rosewood Peavey goes ahead with rosewood board basses. To cement the stupidity there's a bubinga/rosewood combo too.
13. 7lb !!! Can see why it's named after light infantry. Congrats Mick
14. Last few days it's been Celtic Punk Radio. Strangely it's via the internet from Germany.
15. Must have owned 12 maybe 15 HBs,never needed to do any work on them. The dirt cheap PB-20 stood head and shoulders above the Squier Affinity p bass I had. Must say its good to see a PJ with a P bass neck for a change.
16. 930 mile round kinda hampers me going for this Any chance you could PM me the box size and weight so I can get courier quotes ?
17. Fantastic price. Sold my Stingray combo to a rehearsal room fella last year, great bit of kit. If I didn't already have one as a spare I'd be having this. GLWS
18. It's called "Dave's World of Fun Stuff" for a reason, the YT videos and guitar set ups are something he does in his spare time. He works as a movie and TV special effects man.
19. Dave's Rickenbacker story here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ODN1c_6ik
20. Dave's own Rickenbacker went in the skip on the last night of a tour . I wouldn't say he was grumpy just has very bad memories.
21. I bought a set of Fender VI strings and just used 4 of them. £10.99 on eBay
22. Entwistle PBXN arrived from Graeme . Dead easy transaction. Top fella and a credit to BC. Cheers KB
23. I've been at this a long time and doubt I've ever sounded like the record
24. Good to hear Paul. These affordable basses can be brilliant if folks just look beyond the name. Aye there's folk who get them with problems but the same can be said for any brand. Sold one of my Harley Benton PB-50's this week and I know I'll miss it
