1. Saw James wanted a Harley Benton PB-50. He paid straight away, even though I'd said it would take a couple of days to organise packing Great fella and I hope he enjoys the PB-50.
2. Was trouble free for months but that's it started again
3. That's just lovely Rob. Congratulations. Regarding the fretted 4. Tell the good lady, she'll have at least 20 months to calm down
4. PM sent regarding mudbucker and Peavey neck. Had to pass on both. Too many basses already
5. Proof that Fender did try something new
6. Harley Benton Bass Expander. £90 delivered from Thomann. Runs on battery, phantom power or DC. Had mine about a month, great wee thing. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_expander.htm
7.
Further to my USA Squire Jag story, I then found one in Germany on eBay which was sent with no problems.
There's "no borders" within the EU so technically there was no import/export going on.
8.
"No basses for the rest of your life".... that's a bit harsh!!
Harsh but true My passion for Peaveys lead to owning at least one example of every model I'm going to post a link on the Vintage FB page.
9. As it happens I've the Dr J too, sadly don't think it runs on phantom power. The Hartke Bass Attack does, should get one for £40 second hand.
10. Nearly half as much again at £90 delivered but the Harley Benton Bass Expander does all you seek. I posted about it couple of weeks back.
11.
So much so that both Google and Amazon have already changed the way they operate as a result?
OK. You think they're being above board. I don't so here we part ways.
12. Nice link TimR only the "loophole" is so good it gets mentioned twice. HMRC can't do a thing unless ‘arrangements cannot reasonably be regarded as a reasonable course of action’. Fine point of law best argued by well paid lawyers which corperations have aplenty. The "The ‘double reasonableness’ test" is an expensive thing for HMRC to prove.
13. anzoid I remember the Tune Maniacs first, the extended fingerboard fretless I had GAS for was £899. That was around 84/85.Well beyond my pocket so nearest I got was the Washburn ABT B-20, £299 in 88. I knew it wasn't the same but the colour was right Late 80's was first I heard of the SGC Nanyo, the Bass Centre started selling them. It seemed there was plenty competition for Tune. Washburn,Bass Collection,Kawai all had fretless models similar to the standard fretless Maniac P/J. Shameless excuse to show off the fretless Tune :-)
14. Spot on Chris. Bonus points for the gratuitous Peavey shots
15. Risky business !! The Tune Bass Maniac review dogged me for 30 odd year before I finally managed to track one down Tell you what,it was worth it
16. I've a pal lives in Totana,Murcia so I'll ask him what it's like.
17. Way to go Chris. I'm impressed by just the thought of that
18. Bloody hell !! Your timing's terrible I'm stuck in "no basses for the rest of my life" mode. Always fancied the DX model ever since machine's review on here. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/9244-vintage-v1004dx/ Sold my spalted maple 4 string last year and it's 5 string cousin went in May. Cracking basses, Vintage set their sights high when they released these. GLWS
19. I first heard about these start of May then they were pre-order but promptly got dropped from Thomann's product list. Thinking it was just a supply problem I emailed Thomann and asked them for news when they sorted out whatever problem they had. Start of last month I got word so ordered one. 2 days later they were sold out Few days later my £85 DI pedal arrived. Nice sturdy little box about the same size as my Eden WTDI. Reading L-R you got Blend,Bass,2 knobs for sweepable Mids,Treble. 2nd row is Volume,2 knobs for Compressor and a Gain. XLR,Headphones and 1/4" Amp out, 3.5mm Line-In,Input and Thru. It runs on 9v battery,DC power or phantom power. Ground/Lift and a 0dB/-10dB input switch. Great wee thing for practise with the line-in volume set at source. Been playing around with it for last couple of weeks and must say I'm pleased with it. Just a good wee DI that does its job.Don't really know what else I can say,the differences are noticable soon as you start turning knobs. £85 may seem a lot for something with the Harley Benton logo but I reckon with another name and middle man costs it would hit £160 easy. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_expander.htm
20.
For those of us not in the know, what is a Wal JG bass and how do they differ from a "normal" Wal?
Wished I could tell you more but I never played another Wal apart from JG,it's been gone near 30 year. Very chaotic time in my life and I didn't manage to hold on to it long, a leather scratchplate I remember and the pickups had coil tap/phase switches. I do remember it was £500 2nd hand from Monkey Business in Romford
21. Hoped for a moment it was mine,re-appearing after near 30 year in the wilderness. Hopes dashed for the umpteen time this week
22. Looks like it's D.O.A then the Real Mckenzies followed by Subhumans. The Dickies are a possible too. All August/September. Alice Cooper is a goer for November.
23. Haven't played one as chances are I'd buy it.
