You need big hair and spandex to get the best out of that model
There's a law in Scotland forbids me from wearing spandex. I take that law seriously

Flamed Bubinga ? (One for the luthiers ? )
kodiakblair replied to JohnFitzgerald's topic in Bass Guitars
Don't know about "flamed bubinga" but bloody hell John that's pretty :-) -
There was a Chinese version of the Aria Silent bass that I knew was a mistake straight away so doesn't really count. Oddly for it's 2 Peaveys I had 2 Millennium BXPs and they were lovely basses. Looked grand, set up like a dream and sounded great. Kept reading about how amazing the US versions were and how there should be a law against the BXPs Bought one, cost me twice what the 2 BXP's did. I got a graphite gray bass with an extra inch scale length and a sweepable mids knob I never use Nice well built bass but I believed the hype and buyers remorse kicked in. Bought another !! Same result but it's got a Violet quilt top so looks pretty Peavey Sarzo Love the way it plays and feels. Buggered if I can get a tone I like

Mate got this done 23rd of last month so I've sent him a message asking what he thinks. -
Yeah, been noticing that one. Not buying though - I think someone else ought to have a chance at one occasionally
Trust me, I came close

Such is my passion for Peavey I'm always looking but know I have to stop buying This fine looking Zephyr 5 popped up at the weekend and it's nicely priced too. Seller says he's open to offers so the deal could be sweeter Prices on Grinds & Zephyrs have been doing well this year, could be a good time to buy. http://www.ebay.co.u...4%257Ciid%253A1 34" scale thru neck. 2 passive pickups, Hi mass bridge. 44mm at the nut and 17mm string spacing. If it weighs the same as mine expect 9.5lb. Got an Aurora Reds 5 string set on the one here and the B rings loud and clear.

I saw Lulu and her band last night
I think these days she puts on the Scottish accent. It doesn't sound very authentic.
Aye, and she's not alone. These days the Big Yin sounds like he comes from Milngavie Years back Lulu sang in my old local, folks still say those were great nights. -
Who plays the Heaviest Bass in the business? Why?
kodiakblair replied to Grangur's topic in Bass Guitars
Missed the "Why" part I don't really think about "why". Only had the plexi 5'er cause I thought it looked cool but with the T-40's ? They weigh what they weigh. At work a 14lb hammer weighs 14lb,quickest easiet way to drive panels or knock a wall down. Same goes for basses,if the one I want to use weighs 12lb then I'll use it. -

Plexi Jazz 5'er beat all my T-40's in regards to weight, easy 13lb. -
Never tried tapes on a jazz but I've meant to do it many a time. Been a long time fan of tapes, ever since I bought a set of Roto Tru Bass for £5. This was back in the early 80's and the very skint punk rocker that was me suddenly had cash for drink Funny how those moments stick. I no longer use Tru Bass,it's La Bella or Status Hotwires ( I still have a stash of them )

There's a fella over in the States,Jeff Rath, converts Rics into 5 strings, you could maybe ask him. When he started posting about them on the RIC forum John Hall took it badly :-) Jeff's email is on his page. http://www.3dentourage.com/425/jeffbass.htm
That one on the left is like the one I will hopefully get next week.............is that the Sarzo model? Not a Cirrus or RSB Koa?
Aye. One on left is Sarzo sig.
All those Peaveys are giving me Peavey GAS. D'oh!!
Perhaps I should do a Peavey Porn post
Is his surname Dog, Donkey or Mongoose? Dolphin perhaps?
No he's Blair,same as me :-)
OK so maybe a silly question Davie, but have you got one of the Rudy Sarzo signatures from the late 80's / early 90's? I remember drooling over those reading guitarist mag in the back of my maths class.
Aye Lewis. Have the later Koa RSB too (RSB stands for Rudy Sarzo Bass). One of these days I'll find a Sarzo Cirrus.

Calling a cat Peavey would be silly, besides he only answers to Frog or his middle name Monkey.

Some folks on here may be aware of my fairly moderate liking for Peavey basses. OK that's bollocks. I'm nuts about Peaveys This week saw me reach the half century. Official colour I believe was Peacock Blue, looks more turquoise in the flesh. The Cirrus was released in 96 but this flawless example must be from around 2000 onwards. Weighing 9lb it's a lovely bit of 35" scale thru neck bass. The fancy colour fits in well with it's brethern. Frog took this in his stride, another arrival is hardly anything new to him. Going on 16 he's much more interested in retaining his hunter/killer skills by catching the red dot, failing that he likes batting 9v batteries about the hoose.
Doesn't matter why they were there, the 40k were there and they paid dearly. Nothing is cool anymore. I've been told,"No,"it's you that isn't cool anymore. Your generation had they're time.Your all old now, and it's long over due that you should just get out of the way." It's not a bad point. Blue
When the topic is overrated bands the reason folks attend does matter.Very few of the audience paying big bucks will leave saying it was a poor gig.Nope it'll be " They were amazing," "so much energy" & "best show I've ever saw" Which leads to the question. If a bunch of near 70 year olds is the best band you've saw, what other bands have you seen ? I don't mind the "You're old and past it" thing from young folks. It's true
