1. Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction would be first. Anti-Nowhere League,Screeching Weasel or The Queers close seconds.
2. Very interesting read.
3. Cuzzie The Sandberg will be no slouch. Plus if you still have it in 20 year time it'll look good as new
4. It's a bloody stupid fad IMO. Imagine trying to sell that strat shown above in the sales section !! Instant mojo ?? instant ar$3hole more like
5. I've saw some blues, reds and yellows used for thumb rests on eBay. Mostly from Chinese sellers but I've dealt with a few and no problems. About halfway down they start to appear. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R4.TR4.TRC0.A0.H0.Xthumb+res.TRS0&_nkw=bass+guitar+thumb+rest&_sacat=0 or in Tyneside CH Guitars sell them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Thumb-Rest-For-Bass-Guitar-R3-/131792666528?var=&hash=item1eaf747fa0:m:mT4dkepXnLStUw8-sJ8Tr_g
6. That's a cracker. I owned the Harley Benton semi hollow, discontinued white version, and it was a decent bass. All maple too, very nice with flats or rounds. I much prefer the layout on the G4M San Francisco, controls are in a sensible place. £40 cheaper, gigbag included Would be sorely tempted by it if I was looking for another semi hollow. edit Just saw that's the Sale price, don't take too long deciding Yay or Nay.
7. Not the Harley Benton PJ, it's 42mm
8. Peavey did quite a few PJ basses but most are long discontinued. The Milestone IV is a decent bass, set one up for a workmate last summer and think he got a good deal ( 2nd hand £80). There's 2 Zodiac models are PJ. The BXP and Zodiac DE Scorpio, Scorpio comes with Duncan Basslines. Sorry Mark76 didn't think to mention them with them no longer available.
9. Had the Harley Benton one. It was a nice bass, scratchplate didn't bother me. I'm playing bass not entering a fashion parade The HTR PJ play nicely, was good with both flats and RWs and lightweight. If you buy from Thomann but it's not for you then just send it back. Bit of a win/win situation.
10. Could get the Warwick prototype link to work so used the search and saw this ??? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WARWICK-BRASS-JUST-A-NUT-III-4-STRING-BASS-THUMB-CORVETTE-STREAMER-ALIEN-/361384649514?hash=item542434232a:g:7vIAAOSwu4BV6ia- £140 !! It's £44 from Thomann https://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_just_a_nut_iii_brass_4str_385.htm Still the seller's in America so he's got the right market
11. What about a thin slice of Corian ? Synthetic marble type stuff. I fitted counters and worktops made from it. Plenty colours available too. http://www.cdukltd.co.uk/colours.php?p=colours&s=corian
12. Only ever bought stuff from there online, the prices are good, products up to scratch and it's always prompt delivery. Certainly gets my recommendation.
13. 3rd or 4th time in recent weeks I've saw Doug's name come up I'd take that as an omen and phone him !!
14. Does Ghost Tech not sell their Piezo saddles as separates ?
15. Good to hear it's resolved but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Maybe if customers add a note to their orders saying they've heard your experience and won't accept returned goods GAK will get it's act together.
16. Aye it's a cool wee thing, shame I'm thick an can't make head nor tail of the manual. Keys on one string, drums on another.Looks like you can trigger samples by linking them to certain frets ?? All a bit much. Regarding the missing models, well I'm not counting fretless versions nor things like 1st gen Dyna vs 2nd Gen Dyna. The promo basses like Jack Daniels or John Taylor Liberator are out too. From the USA basses there's just the RJ-IV missing. Just remembered from the Far East basses there's the Korean Fury and couple of the Milestones. I'll change the first post to say " Peavey USA bass models "
17. Nearly last bass day for more than one reason First is there's only 2 Peavey USA bass models I don't own, down to 1 now. Second. On the drive home from collecting it I was in a car crash. Both me and bass had a very lucky escape with minor injuries, car is a total write off So it's the Peavey Midibase (later called Cyberbass due to trademark issues),Peavey took up the Midibass after Wal dropped it probably about 1989/90. Triggers are in the frets but you can play normal bass too. Sounds like a VFL Foundation but it has a wider nut. Given the scarcity of these I'll admit to surprise when it appeared for sale. The receiver and Spectrum sound module were included but a hobble round the house tonight only turned up one Midi cable Plugged into the Roland Sound Canvas and right off I had sound. A change of technique will be necessary to trigger all the notes but to be honest it'll just be one for the collection. Reckon I'm about 30 year to late to be learning about MIDI
18. FlatEric I got some kind of Behringer miser/splitter and used it for different heads with DI. It runs to the IEM unit but could easily go to a wee 4 headphone amp. Imagine you could do similar by connecting headphone amp to the phones out on the desk.
19. skej21 It's not a bad idea complaining here. Few years back one of the English chains were advertising "free UK mainland delivery",only Scotland wasn't thought part of the UK mainland This prompted several replies from North of the border and couple hours later the chain's head man was posting saying sorry and he'd now changed the courier. This was 3pm on a Friday so venting here can work.
20. Would a clean boost pedal work ? Could place it before the pre amp pedal.
21. " Did you send him the link ? " Nope. Been my experience pointing out errors in folks sales ads only leads to abuse.
22. It says with Danny Stewart. He a BC member, look for Bass direct Japan in the affiliate section.
23. Yeah you will read it has a Modulus neck or described as "poor man's Modulus",mainly because the B-Quad had a Modulus and the G has carbon neck. Thing is by 1997 Modulus had been trading for 19 year and was a well known brand. With any outsourced parts Peavey would use that in the ads and specs. They did it with the Modulus neck B-Quad and when they used Seymour Duncan pickups.Schaller, Wilkinson.ABM & 2-Tek bridges all get name checked in the manuals too. Some folks say it was a Moses but they used a different construction method. Peavey said they used an aerospace firm for the necks, they did employ an ex employee of Modulus though When the G-Bass was released the Ad-line said " Under 8lb.Under $800". Modulus necks at the time cost over $600. Funny how folk never mention the Cirrus preamp lurking below the cavity cover
24. Please somebody tell me that this £172 from G4M Vintage Metal Axxe Wraith had a £700 USA only version. http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Vintage-Metal-Axxe-Wraith-Bass/5GB https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/vintage-wilkinson-rare-bass-guitar/1214156656 I drank in a pub round the corner from the seller and fear his madness may be catching.
25. The trouble Peavey faced was they priced too low from the start. T 40s sold for $229 when Fenders were $499. Furys and Foundations were the same. That got the brand locked into the bottom end of the market and when the spec and prices started rising folks baulked at the increase. "how can a Peavey cost $500 ? " G bass was $799 There's a line in the Peavey Guitar book where Hartley says folks want made in America guitars and he says " Sure. I got one here." the reply is " But the import's cheaper !" That's the way of the world. One thing Peavey did when they moved to the Far East was place their own people there too,Mike Powers(with Peavey from early 80's) was in charge for years before his death in 2013. Mike was involved with most of the basses from Foundation to Cirrus, including G bass and Grinds. BTW the neck on the G bass is not a Modulus. For Peavey with a Modulus neck you want a B-Quad.
