1. Cheers Painy. Very fair comparison, wasn't overly taken with the P/J 4 string myself, Since the OP's went with the Squier VM, it sounds like he's make a great choice.
2. Had no idea the nut was so narrow on the OPs' Vintage, 42.5mm !! Dirt cheap option could be the 5 string PJ from Thomann £108. At least it goes to 45mm. Painy on post #3 has one maybe he could give you the lowdown Or their Ray type model. Again £108 and 45mm nut. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb_5_sb_deluxe_series.htm
3. Couple of books here Bob. Both have Tab and if after the what ? 30-40 year you've been playing now, pub gigs get closed to non readers well the books also have the notation. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motown-Bass-Classics-Leonard-Corp/dp/0793588375 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motown-Signature-Licks-Guitar-Tab-Music/dp/0634015206
4. After The Tube did a piece on German Industrial music a band was quickly formed. My position was a sheet metal and various bits of steel, struck with a selection of hammers. Gig went great until probably 3 minutes in the power got pulled and curtains closed. Just ahead of our time :-)
5.
... and build an extension on the side of the neck.
OP already has a 5 string, it's the Vintage he says has tight spacing. I'm reading string spacing as issue not the nut width.
6. Aye £70 for the Schaller 16-19mm 3D bridge and £10 for a nut does seem OTT. Better off buying another bass. https://images6.static-thomann.de/pics/atg/atgdata/document/diagram/232336_tz_basssteg_3_d5.pdf
7. Fit a Schaller 3D bridge and cut a new nut from a blank.
8. Posting them to Shabbs on Monday. Completed Thanks
9. Rotosound Tru Bass 88 nylon tapesare G - 65 D - 75 A -100 E - 115 So 55-110 should not be a problem.
10. I've saw the term used on TB. How pressing "Buy It Now" or " Complete Order" turns them into big game hunters is beyond me .
11. Plenty of posts on the various HB pages recently have been about QC troubles. Seems there's a new factory building the latest models and they're not up to speed yet. Deco could really mean just that ATM.
12. Korg GA-1. Had it good few year and less hassle to use than the Behringer rack tuner.
13. Lots of American brands popular since the 60/70s are offsetting a sales slump by increasing prices. Harley Davidson is doing the same, up 10% I heard. No shortage of used basses on the market yet they still have to ship units. Reckon that's why you don't see vintage colours. Who'd spend £1500 for a certain colour when a used one would maybe cost £1000.
14. Timmo Sorry it's a late reply. I put an Entwistle Neo P/J set in my Peavey Zodiac DE. Found the Neos were bigger than the Duncan Basslines but it was an easy job to just swap the covers over. Seeing as the Milestone III has a great slim neck I'd say that was £40 well spent.
15. What's this about hotmail addresses getting flagged as fake ? Mine was accepted no problem. Now WTH are half set basses ? edit Classical guitar strings
16. This any good to anyone ? Couple of quid to your local animal shelter sound fair ?
17. Wished I watched this video before I bought mine. https://www.youtube....h?v=samNHsF2NhI DB that is, not the car
18. @thegummy Just ignore me Brother. I spend too much time on TB winding up Americans
19. Well the necks on Mexican Fenders are made at the Corona factory so they're nearly 50% USA built as is "Rolled edges" ? Don't see that as a major factor to aid bass playing and £250 for an extra pass with the router seems a tad excessive. Still if it works for you, then it works for you.
20. " I'd rather have a bit of space around the CS pickup (that you can't see under the pickguard anyway) than a snugly fitting standard ceramic pickup for example " £600 for MIM Standard P-bass, £99 for CS pickup. Plenty change left to try tuners and bridges.
21. I mind GAK selling them for £1054 around summertime.
22. According to Citizens Advice they don't have to sell. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/if-something-is-advertised-at-the-wrong-price/
23. Just got "Spin & Win" when I tried to check my alerts. Got AdBlock running so it's nothing to do with banners or ads.
