Very nice red Foundation ending a eBay tomorrow. Much as I'd like it, 6 Foundations would be a just tad overkill. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262871186841?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT One bid at £100, somebody's getting a steal.
I've taken a punt at the £14.99 Arkay "discount strings". Will let you know how it goes....
I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on the Arkay. Fancy the lime Aurora ones myself.

Was in touch with Danny about a certain Tune bass, he couldn't help as they're rarer than hen's teeth even in Japan but gave me a ballpark figure if one appeared. Last August my 32 year search was over and Danny's ballpark figure was bang on. Fella knows his stuff.

I'm another who had the Gregory book. Remember thinking " who the hell is Felix Pappalardi ? " and where can I get the half moon Fender Entwistle was pictured with. -

Can't see it being any of us who owned them, mine really did go on the fire This is £11.49 too much. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAY-BASS-GUITAR-SPARES-ONLY-REFURB-/311813335902?hash=item489985eb5e:g:kSsAAOSw32lYtszi -

Going from this everything was an improvment. Round our way we were jealous of lads with Satellite guitars. One fella had a CSL Les Paul copy, that was top notch stuff for us. I dreamed about getting a Westone like Henry Thomas. -
Ironbar " I wish I knew someone in the UK who could just buy me one and send it here!" I'd do it in a heartbeat but there's a good chance Customs would just destroy it on arrival. Then there the shipping cost, Thomann charge $30 but every guitar I've had shipped from the US cost over $100. Not really an option
-
Ironbar It's the rosewood fretboard that's the problem. I gotta say I prefer the look of the HB than the Hadean ukes. If you can't wait on Thomann sorting the paperwork,I'd imagine a month or so yet, there's always DIY This UK company does kits and ships to USA. http://www.buzzardsfieldukuleles.co.uk/store/c7/Build_Your_Own_Kits.html Or http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Bass-Uke/

Bassmachine2112 Alyctes is a very bad man for trying to tempt you with a pink Foundation There's no active/passive switch on either the BXP AC or USA Millenniums so that leaves the passive BXP with the single coils. I've never played one so can't say how they sound & I've only saw rosewood boards
-
Ironbar Sounds like CITES to me. You could hang fire until Thomann sort out the license or Rondo may be your answer. http://www.rondomusic.com/bluegrassfolk.html

@ProfJames I reckon you'll be very happy with the Dynabass. To my mind it was the point Peavey took bass guitar seriously There's a wee trim pot on the PCB adjusts the preamp output so you can fine tune active vs passive volume. Hope you don't have too long to wait for it .

Got a Peavey Resolite, a chambered PJ with 2+2 headstock. Only 4 were made,2 for Europe/2 for USA. John Fields who ran Peavey USA mechanical engineering dept has one,John Fera, designer of Peaveys digital effects has the other. Friend of mine plays in a band with Fera and tried for years to get his to sell, only to find out last month his old boss John Fields had one So both are accounted for in the States. No idea who's got the 4th one. -

I went to buy a new Fender sometime early/mid 80s. Some of them were pish, lucky I had my Japanese copy to fall back on. Boy last year was looking for a wee combo just for home use, for a laugh I offered him my old Carlsbro Stingray combo (washing machine). Owner of rehearsal place in Glasgow demanded I sell him said combo. 80s for me were all Carlsbro or Peavey, never played through a Trace E until 89. Was there any difference between Kay guitar and Kay bass amps bar the name ? The Kay tulip bass was mince too -
Andy Cameron with " I wanna be a Punk Rocker" or maybe the lassie singing " Oh Superman" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHSE7OjAQeU

Intro to "Smash it Up" or maybe "Guns of Brixton". Could be "Love Song".
There are a few slightly sharp fret ends, but I think it's a bit harsh to criticise the quality of the electronics and hardware in a bass costing just over a hundred quid. What exactly was he expecting?
His stable consists of Harley Bentons,Dean Evo , the J&D ,wee Ibanez Mikro, a Squier and an old Westone Thunder so I'd say he knows his affordable basses. He posted on another site about each bass, any mods and the work done to get it to his taste. The Squier came out worse. Personally I'd buy a J&D anytime, based solely on the colours. Like you said Conan it's £100,be hard-pressed getting a refin for that.

Hell Fire !! 1100 euro ???

Andy If the Washburn is one of the Force ABT then I'd say Japanese build. My 3 were Japanese. Congratulations on a great day.

Friend of mine who's a big fan of bass ukes also upgraded to Countryman. I had both fretless and fretted HB models. I was surprised by the "big sound" from such a little thing. The heavy gauge strings took awhile to get used to,take awhile to settle down tuning wise too.Had to alter my playing too, heavy attack caused the strings to bounce of the fretboard. Fretting too hard caused the notes to go sharp. The pair cost me half the price of a Kala so it was a cheap fun experience

I've noticed a price rise on all USA Peaveys in the last week. There was about 20 on Music Go Round under $200,but when I looked last night everything was over $200.Heard from a friend in Meridian this morning,he'd just picked up a trans purple TL-5 with a $100 Bart preamp for $310.

Mate of mine has the J&D jazz bass. Said it had cheap hardware and a lousy fretjob. Once he'd sorted that out it was a nice bass.

Needing some pointers and hope somebody will chip in. Artec SE 2 preamp . It comes prewired except the jacket and battery clip. This drawing has me stumped with the grounds. There's one prewired on the volume. On the blend the middle lug is marked ground,on the Tone Monster preamp you attach the pickup grounds to the middle pin on the blend. The drawing doesn't show that just a black wire marked ground. Where do I attach the ones from the pickups, the bridge, blend and volume control grounds ? Do I tie them all together ? It also doesn't come with a stereo jack socket so I phoned Maplin this morning, 2 left in stock. Popped round and collected it. When I got home I discovered it's a 4 lug. Now because I haven't got the grounds sorted out I can't do trial and error to find the right lugs to use. Can somebody put this eejit out of his misery ? Cheers KB

Bought a Peavey bass on gumtree, seller was 400 mile away. Asked on here and merton helped out. Couple of year before merton was buying an amp 400 mile away myself and donny picked it up for him. Both times the cash just was transferred to collectors bank account. Make use of the forum and the good folks on it Chances are you'll be helping one of us sometime.

Great to hear your up-to-date thoughts on the Harley. I've stuck to my guns and abstained. Car crash, broken leg and no work helped strengthen my resolve ;-)
