1. Took advantage of Mark's recent clear out Welcome pair of Peavey pickups arrived this morning. He's a Top Man.
2. Hiya Lowhead Just o'er the water fae ye in Fawkirk.
3. There's some Furys had headstocks painted black not but 100% if they did any Foundations. Foundation S,like this fella, have black headstocks, can't say I've saw them with maple boards though.
4. Damn. Half hour too late. If it falls through I'm interested, PP gift all the way
5. Pickup heights will have a lot to do with it too. Too high they'll choke the strings but too low and they lose signal. Why's nothing ever simple
6. Naetharu If you're not impressed well then you're not impressed. These lads seem to be impressed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVL9TzEFiyE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C60_fdAX_N8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUtP0P0ZWP4 Bit more relevant. Here's my pal Claudio A/Bing his PB-50 with the Wilkinson and then Seymour Duncan. https://soundcloud.com/subdude67/wilkinson-pickup https://soundcloud.com/subdude67/seymour-duncan-pickup
7. Lad down the street was selling a bass for £1. I had £1
8. Harry . Bought twice from CC. 1st was left propped outside my front door. Bass shaped object, made from miles of black bags and tape marked "fragile". Bass was unscathed but I lived ground floor in a close with no locked entrance. Folk would nip in off the street for a piss. Courier was at fault but I complained to CC anyway. Got email and letter apologising and saying they'd dropped the courier. City Link went bust couple of month later. 2nd time was last month. Reminded them about the last time and they said "it's OK,we use Parcelforce". Came home to find a large box wrapped in bin bags outside the door. Again no security entrance. Again courier at fault. No problems from CC,both basses were as advertised and reasonably well packed.Second one was better, waterproof wrap -cardboard box - buublewrapped bass. It's just the bloody couriers.
9. Did have a 32" Westone Concord. A mad guitar professor in Lenzie has it now
10. Quite liked the fretless on "What I Am" by Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians. Not really Rock though but nice enough :-)
11. " the pick-ups are Wilkinson. I honestly didn't know that was a brand" And there's poor Trev been designing guitar hardware for at least the last 35 year
12. £40 ? £40 is the price of JB-75 dekos I.e " unplayable, for decoration only " and I'd take sharp frets as a given. Far as taking one on a gig I'm saying nothing.
13. Hey hey ma Brother bassmachine Congratulations. Now you need a Red one so buy Tim's You know it makes sense
14. The main photo doesn't do it any favours but when I saw the 3D bridge and EMGs I thought it has potential. The wooden cavity covers are another nice touch. Shame I'm committed to something else just now.
15. Saw this on Gumtree last night. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/hand-made-bass-guitar-with-ashdown-20w/1218159118 Fella says it's made by a Polish luthier name of LANGOWSKI. Did a google search and sure as fate the fella exists. His FB page has a picture of a 5'er,looks the same ,different wood though. Picture is dated 15th Sept 2013,about halfway down the page https://www.facebook.com/pg/Langowski-Guitars-1442403662652426/posts/?ref=page_internal There's no "L" logo on the Gumtree bass but the front of the headstock looks sanded back. What'd you folks think legit or is there faked Polish basses now ?
16. There's 2 Jazz basses. JB-20 at £80 with no-name pickups and hardware and the £120 JB-75 with the Wilkinson pickups. JB-75's are heavy, 11-12lb is average but I know an older player who gigs his all the time. He swears by the fretless JB-40 too. Wonder if you folks were playing the 20 ?
17. hubrad's got the right of it. Some flats work on one bass yet not on another. Are they really that expensive though ? Fender flats are about £20 a set and last for years. Or there's my £60 Harley Benton PB-50 ! A set of TIs on that changed it from being a decent bass into probably my favourite bass,3 year they been on it and it sounds great. Well worth the £40 for the TIs
18. Afraid that's out of my territory so I can only wish you well in the search. Get yourself to Bass Direct or the Gallery. Doubt there's much outwith your budget so play them all. Take your time deciding and enjoy the experience. Looking forward to seeing your NBD.
19. Sorry to about that fishfry.I was out of order there. You played a gig and nobody could hear you. I'd be pissed off too. What did the sound guy say was up ?
20. Half ?? With that kind of budget you could get anything you want built. Half again should easy get you another vintage Fender. Serious money you're talking.
21. Here you go http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EX-PINO-PALLADINO-FENDER-JAZZ-BASS-STACK-KNOB-1961-VINTAGE-FENDER-BASS-WHO-/391434650065?hash=item5b2352c1d1:g:xfwAAOSwopRYhkWi Vintage, jazz, lot of money ticks all boxes
22. And why comment on a Jazz bass when the PB-50 is the topic ? My two here, fretboard is starting to age on the left hand one, right hand has a lovely almost roast maple grain.
23. Good friendly staff in Scayles Edinburgh. I only wanted a 9v daisy chain but they still offered to plug in any bass I fancied. Spotted a double bass mute I'd been after too, less than Thomann's price.
24.
I thought you meant different versions of the T bass!!!
No. Lucky there, just 3 or 4. Toasters & Blades, Fretless and there's also a Rosewood fretboard version.
25.
Can you expand please?
Simple really. One Peavey generally leads to another. Your G-bass lead to white T40 which lead to another T40 and bids on T45 & T20. If you don't count factory fretless,5 & 6 string options and variations like Ferrites to VFL pickups then there's at least 24 Peavey models for you to explore.
