1. I had one Birthday party gig I turned up to in a mis-matched tracksuit/Pjamas before. I NEVER go out in a tracksuit or anything that would resemble me looking like a chav but I ended up watching a film and really getting into it. I completely forgot about the gig, and left myself 10 minutes to do a 45 minute journey. All I had time to do was throw my gear and some nice clothes in the car and put my foot down! As you can imagine I got a fair bit of abuse from the band for being late, and turning up to someone birthday party looking like I was about to steal all the gear. I also play a P Bass in a covers band USING A PICK
2. Oh and we all want pics of the new bass! Maybe not if its damaged, that will be just too god damn heart breaking even to look at from behind a computer screen...
3. Well Thomann did an absolute superb job at packing my ESP TE-406, it had an absolute ton of bubble wrap /air packets in there so hopefully no harm has been done to the guitar. Regardless of packaging, the tool who delivered that obviously should be held accountable - epsecially as he signed for it for you. He obviously couldnt be bothered to take it back with him and thought i was much easier to chuck it over the fence. Complain!
4. PMT in Birmingham might be worth a look - its a massive store but PMT only seem to ever stock either Ashdown or TC Electronic amps.
5. I think I get it now... If I were to record myself say playing Smoke on The Water on Guitar against a metronome, and then zoomed in massively on the waveforms I would see whether I am ahead or behind the beat because as humans we all have a sense of rhythm and interpret it differently onto an instrument. It sounds on time in person but on a computer you can see exactly where you are in relation to the beat. Is that about right? If so that was completely pointless spending time trying to work it out because it hasn't helped me in the slightest knowing what I do.
6. I'm so confused...
7. Or is it a way of explaining whether a bassist really drives a song forward or whether they sit back and let someone else do it?
8. I'm with Ubit, I think all this 'before and after the beat' sounds like a load of crap. The drummer sets the rhythm and you play in time with the drummer - what else do you need to worry about?
9.
I have 2/3 tones that I use through the gig on my Tanglewater in to the TC. 1- Standard rock tone for most of the songs = P pickup on, tone up full, Hartke bass Attack on- classic rock tone 2- Same but tone rolled off on the bass and PJ blended for more thumpy 60s stuff like Bowie 3 - P pickup, tone-up, Shape control on the Harkte on, for all out gritty Guns/Maiden songs. I play about 50/50 pick vs finger style.
Hartke Bass Attack is the best pedal in the world! Won't play my bass without it!
10.
Are you saying that other bass players are knobs?? Edit: If so, you're probably right...
No I just dont like fiddling with their knobs! Wait..what?...
11. I know djent is pronounced ''Jent'', but everytime time I read it in my head its ''DER-JENT'' I would take the bass and ask someone to professionally set it up for you
12. I keep one bass tone throughout. Nobody cares about the bass player apart from other bass players, so I dont bother messing around with knobs all the time. Once its set, I dont worry about it!
13. They've had one similar to that in PMT in Birmingham for ages! Who needs four!?
14. What about a Mark Hoppus signature bass?
15. Hi All, I'm on the hunt for a new band but I am really struggling to find one. I've put ads on all the website I can think of but the general reponses are either: the person comes across like a moron or are reponses from those people who have decided exactly what label to give themselves like 'post pre modern gothic christian hardcore jazz metal band'. Those type of Ads leave me feeling like I'm completely clueless about music as I have absolutely no idea what the bloody hell they are on about! The thing I usually include in my ads are: - Experience - Gear - That gigging is essential - Age - Music interest Do you guys think that something like a video collage of me playing a load of random tracks would be a good idea to? Going to a few jam nights soon so hopefully that brings something.
16. I put on some Trance music, nice chill out on the way home! Then its the tinnitus! haha!
17. Im a huge tapper
18. My MiM P Bass's tuners are fantastic, I only need to tune it once at the beginning of the gig and it stays solid. Many times I have taken it out of the case after weeks and it has still been in tune as well! The only reason I would ever change them would be to have some black ones just because they look cool.
19. Without doubt my hearing has been effected, my tinnitus is like a constant sound of a helicopter over head. When I first started to notice it when I was going to bed, I nearly phoned the police asking why for every night over the last week had they been flying helicopters at stupid hours of the night. Thats honestly what I thought was happening until I asked if the helicopter had been keeping my neighbours awake to - I did get some funny looks... My hearing struggles the most when I'm in a noisy bar or crowded area, I find it extremely hard to hear people that are trying to talk to me and often need them to speak up or repeat themselves. I'm only 22 which is the real worry! As pathetic as I know it is, I dont want to go to the doctors because I dont want to wear a hearing aid at 22 in case I get laughed at.
20. Made me a bit jealous because I would like to play music like that but my current band is all pop music
21. Rock on dude!
22. I constantly look at these just to get the surf green body if anything and upgrade everything on it and maybe a Status neck. Is it worth it?
23. I love my MIM P Bass as shown in my avatar. Hope it's what you hoped for!
24. All speakers and amps should be head height for the best sound in my opinion regardless of the type of venue or floor.
25. I have never bought a guitar or even visited the shop but its a shop website I look at guitars on the regular and also read some of the interesting reviews and even more interesting responses Richard gives. Many of which can be found here: (its really entertaining by the way so grab a cup of tea) http://richards-guit...edconsumer.com/ He seems like a passionate guy and loves what he does, but he seems to be too open and too opinionated which seems to upset a lot of people. If you visit his Facebook page you will also see the odd post where he is openly slagging off suppliers or manufacturers which seems to be very brave thing to do. https://www.facebook...uitarspecialist What I gather he tries to his absolute best for customers and takes it extremely personally when someone gives a bad review, and will ditch a supplier if he thinks the guitars are not up to standard (which is a good thing if you ask me) but probably not a good idea to slag them off on social media, as it makes him look really unprofessional in my opinion.
