  1. I remember when I was an 18 year old heavy metal fan hearing Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? and I immediately fell in love with it. I have to admit the following songs were a bit twee for me but I've always liked their sound. The recent songs from George have been good. I would have loved to have seen them.
  2. We did a gig a number of years ago that was a good bit out of town. It was my turn to be one of the drivers so I was totally sober. We played the whole first set with no problems. A couple of songs into the second set I could feel my throat tightening and singing became more of a struggle. I had no nerves by this point as we had gotten used to the crowd and they were enjoying the band. I know I was desperate to have two or three pints of lager which would have settled me down perfectly but I had to endure. I have spoken to people who say alcohol tightens your vocal chords and doesn't help you sing etc. I know this is probably true, it's just that in my case I, or at least my throat, relaxed when I had just a couple of beers. I am not an alcoholic and do not depend on alcohol to get by. In fact just recently myself and Mrs Ubit decided to stop drinking for a month. We did it no problem. We only drink at weekends anyway and in my job, I am required to go away for weeks at a time and can't drink during that time. I just cannot understand this dependancy on drinking in order to sing.
  3. This is social media, don't you know you should write "should of" gone these days! 😉
  4. You have listed two of my favourite bands.
  5. I think my digging in was exacerbated by a lack of decent monitors. Not being able to hear myself over a loud guitarist and latterly a loud drummer meant I dug in and turned up louder myself. Years ago I thought I was meant to have really low action as my guitarist mate had such low action and always went on about it. It took me quite a long time and a moment of oh, is that coming across out front? Before I realised that I should raise it a bit.
  6. I found Jailbreak really hard to sing and play. Easy bass line but just those half beat notes catch me out.
  7. I agree and I also suspect you lived in or near a city. City punters tend to like originally more than rural punters. Round here if a band started doing original material they would have to do some very hard work in getting their music released on social media first. Back when we were playing that wasn't possible, so you would have to try and flog your demo. Again, a hard ask. People round here just want to hear something they know. More and more it's getting into that folk rock type thing mixing traditional with rock or dance. It wasn't my taste but you have to prostitute yourself.
  8. It was on a football forum. An opposing fan was being a twatt and I called him out for it. on the other hand I reported an opposing fan for calling our fans Orcs and Fbook said that they reviewed it and it was ok. If I didn't like it I could try blocking that person.
  9. I used to play with a really low action but as I dig in quite a lot it resulted in lots of clicks. I increased the action and instantly got better sounding playing. Each to their own right enough.
  10. I much prefer Izzy Straddlin's solo albums I named my dog after him. Everyone thinks he's a girl. It's not like it's short for Isobel!
  11. I got a 7 day ban from Facebook for calling someone a twatt. They said it was bullying
  12. Sounds like a great day/night. Congratulations to the happy couple.
  13. Always sad to hear about anyone passing. It makes you think of your own mortality. I've got to the more funerals than weddings stage in life. I didn't know alaskaleftybass but RIP bass lover.
  14. I have to admit to being a bit of a snob when it comes to GnR. I saw the original (and to my mind best) lineup at Donnington and any line up without Izzy isn't the real deal for me. It's a little known fact that Izzy was one of the major songwriters in that band and I have all of his solo albums. Also I loved Velvet Revolver and saw them a few times. Fair enough death kind of puts an end to any reunion plans in that direction but I just feel that this current line up is for making money. Ive read all of their books and they swore they wouldn't get back together. I know all artists are in this to make money but they were doing ok without this flogged to death line up. I remain unconvinced.
  15. I'm quite often in balls deep as I've only got little legs!
  16. Is that not what you did when you posted lots of one liners?😁
  17. Ms. Patroller it is then 😉
  18. I'm on a Mac and it works ok.
  19. Did you find it mate? Not in your profile but in the main forum just click on your name in the top right hand corner
  20. If you click on your picture in the top right it says how many points until your next level
  21. 155. What do you do to earn these "points"? Do you get a financial reward when you reach the top?
  22. This and it's noted that no one disagreed with you.
