  1. I love Rick Beato. He just knows so much about all kinds of music and is hugely qualified and knowledgeable about mixing and getting the best out of songs and the instruments that build them.
  2. Fair play to you doing that mate. I have loved Magnum for most of my life and have seen them so many times. Keep it up bud!
  3. Really good that but what annoys me is that I can't quite make my mind up if that's a real stone wall behind the singer or if its a faux fireplace.🤔
  4. Ive often thought this. If you are into being a musician and you find that you like a particular band much more than any other and people say "by the way, you look like so and so" you might think " maybe I could do a tribute kinda thing. If you look nothing like said person, just be in a band.
  5. So all those people are going to spend an evening listening to cats claws getting scraped down a blackboard and feign delight just for a social experiment?
  6. I am friendly with a guy who plays guitar in an Ozzy tribute band. I went to see them a few years ago and when they started I exclaimed to Mrs Ubit "That IS Ozzy up there!" The guy had the look, voice and most importantly, the mannerisms of Ozzy. They were great. There was a Thin Lizzy tribute on the bill as well who were note perfect but didn't bother trying to look anything like Lizzy. I preferred watching the Ozzy band as they made me smile and looked like they were enjoying themselves onstage. At the end of the day any band playing is entertainment. You pay to be entertained. Playing a thousand notes a minute whilst staring at the floor might do it for some but the whole visual package is what I like.
  7. She was "singing" in a crowded bar. Was this part of the social experiment?
  8. I can't get over the sheer arrogance of her. The lyrics are so narcissistic it's untrue. The way she prances around in the video in that bloody red dress which isn't even as nice as the white one and not one single line of her obviously pre recorded singing is vaguely in tune. She then goes online and paints this picture of a talented singer, songwriter, actress available for whatever any entrepreneurs would like to pay her for. Cant fault her for trying but she needs a real friend to sit down with her.
  9. I think if a tribute band only had the look but didn't sound much like the originals you might be a bit disappointed. Then again you might be a band that just covers songs from all one band. If that was the case and you didn't sound like the originals again, folk would be disappointed. I have never played in a tribute band but if I was I would try to nail both aspects. The best tribute bands or at least the most well known tribute bands always try to nail the look as well as the sound, although I did see a Led Zeppelin tribute once where the band made no effort to look like LZ but by heck they sounded exactly like them. Same with a Pink Floyd tribute band. I think if the band look like the band they are imitating it adds to the visuals, especially if you have something like an AC/DC tribute. Then again if someone can play like Angus Young but looks nothing remotely like him that could look quite comical if he tries.
  10. I remember seeing Metallica opening at Donnington back in '85. I thought they were thrash and too heavy for me. I enjoyed the hair metal of Ratt and Bon Jovi at the time. How times have changed. I find Bon Jovi twee now (although I still like a bit of Ratt) and Metallica are one of my faves although now I find Metallica tame compared to some of my likes.
  11. I have just realised that it could also be an open mic night. When you get those people tend to be kind to the worst performer just to be supportive.
  12. I'll tell you what's wrong with this. He must sweat to buggery in that outfit. Bearing in mind he comes from Los Angeles where it gets pretty warm. His bandmates must hate being in a room with him.
  13. Not only did the bar book her, there's a sound guy helping to "mix" her sound, although what he's doing for four and a half minutes when all he has to balance is guitar and vocal I don't know. The bar is full and everyone looks to be enjoying the show. I can only assume that A- It's a bunch of her friends and colleagues. Or 2- the people in that town are as deluded about what a musician should sound like that they actually think this is good. I mean there's a whole bunch of people in the Red Dress video agreeing to take part in something that shows their faces.
  14. There were people clapping and cheering after that performance ( I fast forwarded it. Couldn't stand to hear 4 and a half minutes of that) Maybe they were cheering in irony as I might have been doing as it's in the so bad it's good category.
  15. I thought it was a parody but everything you see on social media points to a very deluded young woman who touts herself as a singer, songwriter, actress etc. and as you can see someone actually booked her to play in a bar!
  16. I did once. It was a massive shed we were playing in with extension leads coming out of the farm house next to it. Stank of cows and whatever cows produce. Upshot is the electrics were terrible. My Ampeg valve amp kept cutting out. It would be on for about 10 seconds and then off for about ten seconds. I am also the singer so had to carry on with this for the whole first half. There would be bass, then no bass. When we took our break I switched to going direct into the mixer. Then these people started coming up and saying how great we were and could we play at this that and the other. I was gobsmacked! It just goes to show that we put all this time and effort into getting the most amazing sound and when you play in front of drunken party goers, as long as they hear the beat and the vocal they are happy.
  17. I didn't say he was the better singer did I? I have been to see Corabi sing very recently and he is amazing live. Nikki Sixx explains this quite well in his book. Corabi just didn't suit their songs/image at the time. Record sales went downhill when Corabi joined. Fans grumbled that they wanted the old Crüe back. What you have posted is after they had done their farewell tour. They played again and again and Vince Neil kept eating cheeseburgers and struggled with his vocals.
  18. It was like when John Corabi joined Motley Crüe. He was/is a much better singer but just didn't suit Motleys songs. the album with his own songs sounds ace but covering the older songs not so much. The fans wanted that high pitched sound that had made the band.
  19. I have always said that there is no such thing as shyte music. Someone, somewhere likes it. It's just that you don't like it or it's not to your taste.
  20. Never fear lads, its gone! https://loudwire.com/jeremy-spencer-deleted-psychosexual-music-from-internet/ But they were pretty popular with quite a lot of folks
