Damn! I searched for The Shaggs and now they are coming up all the time in my suggested videos. As are Physcosexual! -

The most hilariously bad song I have heard

There is so much worse music out there. I may be in the minority on here but I quite liked it. Its tongue in cheek and much better than some turgid efforts that I have listened to. Nah, Ive listened to some of their other stuff. Pretty poor fare. Cant believe Jason Hook has agreed to this. -
Whilst I quite like this I wonder who the producer was. How he would be happy in 2015 to accept those vocals and the weak guitar sound is beyond me. This could have been really powerful and hard hitting with a bit of tweaking.

Do you have a supportive partner and is it important?

Mrs Ubit is awesomely supportive of my music. Both of her brothers are very, very good guitarists and she plays piano herself. So she has had music coming out of her ears since childhood. Even although I don't play in the band anymore, she doesn't nag me to sell any of my gear. I still hope that I can get a new job and get back into gigging but until then the spare room/music room is full of guitars, basses and equipment and she is happy with that. -
I have had this situation happen so many times. As I am the singer I had to rely on my mate, the guitarist, to go out front and let me know what it sounded like. Many times I had a decent enough break from singing to jump out quickly and have a listen. As long as the guitar was blasting out nice and clear he was happy. Sod the overall sound. He once told me bass should be felt rather than heard.

A fat drunk who has a temper problem. Id say they would have had to lose him at some point even if they didn't get Bruce. As I say I love the first two albums but his voice has gone now and I'd hate to see Maiden with Di'Anno now.

Apparently the offending guy was trying to make a joke about the height of the mic stand being just right for Bruce Dickinson. Maybe you shouldn't make jokes in a language you don't fully understand. Paul however was a complete wnaker about it and should have just went with it rather than be such an angry d(ck in front of people who had paid good money to see him. The way he couldn't leave it after the guy apologised and said he loved him was bang out of order. As I say I love the first two albums but it seems that Paul has become a sad, bitter twatt!

I agree and he didn't exactly go out with dignity

The first two albums are still my favourites by a country mile. Nothing against Bruce but I dislike that opera style wailing. Also the progressive rock style they developed didn't move me as much. I still own all of their albums but I just love that heavy metal innovation of the first two.

Sorry, I couldn't resist 🤣

For many years I mistakenly had my setting in the happy face zone. I thought as that was what I had my stereo at that that was what was best. I eventually heard someone mention the sad face setting. I tried this and it was like an epiphany. My bass cut through without sounding too loud. I like plenty bottom end but plenty top end too. Mids are the highest. I like a toppy sound with the clank of new strings. I used to change my strings every three gigs. I sweat a lot when gigging. I would boil the strings and get a couple of extra gigs out of them.

Whilst I agree with you, I am in the position of not being able to play (even if there were gigs available) due to the constraints of my job. I work ad hoc and can't even arrange rehearsals never mind gigs. Bearing this in mind I can't bring myself to get rid of all my gear and 14 bass guitars. I enjoy playing them and they are stored in my spare room/music room. I have gear there for mixing and recording and I enjoy mucking about with Pro Logic, so the gear stays. I have a very understanding partner and all is well.

This is very possible. I first started having my eyes/ears opened to real music around '78/'79 when I started to listen to heavier bands. Thats what spoke to me and I think it was 1980 that the new wave of British heavy metal came around.(NWOBHM) That's to say heavy metal was around before the new wave otherwise there wouldn't have been a new wave. So somewhere bands were being described as heavy metal before 1980.

Could we have the bride and the groom on the floor please? Then into Smoke On The Water. Reminds me of a friend of ours who used to sing in a band that did many functions over the years. He once asked for the bride and groom etc then asked for the brides parents. Everyone Was stage whispering frantically, Al,...... they're dead!

I used to love playing Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Its a busy wee line and as I was the singer too I loved doing this one as the bass line is in time with no out of time frills. I found easier songs to play harder to sing over.

Superb song! I had forgotten how good that one was. Thanks for reminding me of it.

I read a post on YouTube on one of her songs, I forget which song it was now. This person said they remember this song with great fondness as the last time they had heard it was from a foxhole in France. I Googled the song and it was released in the 50's, so this guy must have heard a very exclusive pre-pre-pre release edition being played on his radio whilst he dodged bullets from the Jerry's!

The Cure are definitely not Goth. They just get the label because they look like Goths.

Anyway, who gives a toss ? As long as it’s good music!

I clicked on this thinking you had a problem with your effects pedals. How silly of me.

Unless you are a food photographer, pictures of peoples dinner always look rank!

I agree that now they are not heavy metal but at the time of my yoof (early 80's) they were considered heavy metal. At least that's what we thought and we were the ones buying their records. Classic cars used to be just cars.
