  1. My latest disappointment wasn't down to a bad performance but the audience. We went to see Seether a couple of years ago and the whole evening was ruined by a sea of effin mobile phones. one girl was even filming it on her iPad! Why, oh why can't people enjoy a band without having to record it? The resulting clips are invariably rank rotten when they end up on YouTube!
  2. Any chance of the lottery numbers mate?
  3. My biggest disappointment was at a festival. Rory Gallagher came on and it was clear that he was blind drunk. He was fluffing, forgetting to sing and disappearing for long periods, leaving the bassist and drummer to carry on. The set was cut short and it was a shame as he died not long after that. We must have been witness to his long downward spiral and addiction to the bottle. He had been a hero of mine as a teenager.
  4. I just don't get The Melvins. I mean I love Grunge and I love heavy music but they seem to be tuneless noise to me.
  5. We used to cover " All these things Ive done" by the Killers. I sing and play the bass and for the life of me I could never play the very simple but slightly weird timed verse and sing at the same time. I tried for ages and had to simplify an already simple bass line in order to play it live. No one seemed to notice but it drove me nuts. I could play far more complicated bass lines and sing over them but that one just baffled me.
  6. All my truss rods have Allen key adjustability. I am not familiar with these slot types.
  7. We played at a party in a barn once. The electrics were so dodgy that my valve amp kept cutting out. I would play for about ten seconds, then nothing for ten seconds. I am also the singer so I was forced to try to continue without being put off. We took a break and a number of people approached us and said how great they thought we were. It just shows you. As long as people can recognise the song, hear a beat and are drunk, then no one cares about the bass player.
  8. We simply based our set on a few criteria. Would folk like it in the pub?, Can we do it justice with our instruments and ability? Can I play it and sing it? How many other local bands are playing it? If said song passed these rules then we played it regardless of what style it was.
  9. That's a song?.................... That's what I base my life goals on!
  10. To be fair it wasn't the pro version.Still, very weak pups.
  11. I have never tried a Casady to be fair. I just like it's look. The pick ups on my Epiphone Tbird just underwhelmed me as I had to turn up my amp when I changed onto it from my Fenders,
  12. The Jack Casady all the way from me. I used to own an Epiphone Thunderbird and found it very underwhelming and underpowered. I used it live a couple of times and I had to alter my volume quite a bit when I changed to the T bird. The Casady just oozes sex appeal.
  13. I have a far too busy and interesting life to spend time trawling through Internet forums. I skim what I need and get back to my exciting and hectic schedule!
  14. Been struggling with the bass line on this classic!
  15. When we played live I used to think why spend so much effort and money on trying to get the perfect sound and then d.i. straight into a mixer? I always mic'd up my cab so that the sound through the pa was my sound or as close as I could get it.
  16. I am just starting to learn Never going back by Fleetwood Mac. Wish me luck. Lyndsey Buckingham is a genius!
  17. You beat me to that one. Every time you see Rush live the crowd sings the whole instrumental. It's amazing and shows the level of support these guys had/have.
  18. How bizarre! Even if it worked it would be extremely uncomfortable to play. If you wanted a quick mid song turn around you would need some kind of weird rotating strap lock set up and even if you managed a flawless flip, you would have probably knocked the other side out of tune with your belly or studded bullet belt!
  19. Years of playing in various shapes and sizes of events has honed my disrobing of guitars down to an expert level. You just need to be more specially aware rather than trying to pad out a head stock.
  20. Who else could find a place in a song for Kiliminjaro? I thought they did pretty good with that one!
  21. I agree that Bon was irreplaceable and is my favourite but it's not as if he left. He died, so they had no choice but to get someone else. To my young ears Brian sounded great and it was still that unmistakable sound of AC/DC, so I was happy. Geddy, I loved right from the off.
  22. I am exactly the same with Zep. When I was in school I couldn't be bothered with them. When Bonham died everyone was in mourning and I was like, I don't really care that much. Later I started to appreciate them and downloaded all their old material. I love them now.
  23. When I was in my early teens and just starting to learn bass, our old neighbour was a lovely old lady who used to say she loved to hear young ones doing what young ones did. She never complained and it must have been some horrific sounds coming through the wall. I cringe when I think back and realise that those types of people are very rare indeed.
  24. Sounds was a great paper. I miss that. Then again we didn't have the internet then so that was how we heard about bands. I remember when Brian Johnston joined AC/DC, I bought Back in Black and it wasn't until I got home and stuck it onto my record player that I heard him for the first time. You don't get that kind of magic anymore.
