  1. Yup, even if I had my own teams badge on my bass, enough people would comment in distaste that it would ruin any feelings of pride. It's the same with idiots that insist on wearing replica strips everywhere.
  2. I love his tone even when it's bright and clanky. It suits the music. I dislike the Irons and why would anyone want to buy his sig. bass with a West Ham badge on it?
  3. I always had a clean beer mat on hand to wipe everything down in between songs including my hands. It gave some relief but only for a short while.
  4. I once listed for a laugh, Queen Victorias 3rd from last fart, bottled. I posted a picture of an empty bottle and said it had a certificate of authenticity. I got a warning from eBay for trying to sell something that was counterfeit😲
  5. I don't have any problem with my finger tips. It's down the inside of my fingers, mostly at the joints. Between the ring and pinky is the worst hit area. As I said, when I was never getting a chance to recover, the skin would go beyond itchy and the blisters would break and finally the skin would peel off and it was red raw. Playing endlessly like that with sweat running into it was rotten. I was playing and singing and gritting my teeth all at the same time. I must be particularly susceptible to nickel as no one else seems to have this level of a problem.
  6. It was murder mate. I think sweat made it even worse. We were playing 3-4-5 times a week back then and I was never getting a chance to recover. My fingers were in a hell of a mess. At work they had a guy come up to test folk for different substances but that was a waste of time. I eventually worked out myself that it was the nickel in the strings. I can't wear a watch or any cheap jewellery. Stainless strings were a godsend. I hadn't heard of them but when I tried them-Instant success! It cleared up in no time.
  7. I'm allergic to nickel so am forced to use stainless steel strings. If I use nickel strings for any length of time my fingers break out in itchy little blisters which then burst and I get painful broken skin. Before I self diagnosed back in the 90's when we were playing a very lot, I used to have blood running down my hands and was always in extreme pain when gigging.I almost gave up. Thank feck for stainless!
  8. Me at the moment. I am sitting in my music room practising away with my headphones on, even taken to recording but I can't do vocals as we have the omnipresent Son in Law and his French girlfriend who never go out for more than 10 minutes. It's driving me to distraction I tell ya!
  9. What about '82? Some cracking' songs from that year! Eye of the Tiger- Survivor Don't You Want Me?- Human League Jack and Diane- John Cougar Mellancamp Rosanna-Toto Harden My heart-Quarterflash Waiting For a Girl Like You-Foreigner Who Can It be Now?- Men at Work Heat Of The Moment- Asia Our Lips Are Sealed-The Go Go's Just to name a few!
  10. The Bravewood is a better attempt but I agree, not really a great copy.
  11. Me too but I bought it in '77. I went down to the Friday Market and bought it at lunchtime (or dinner time as it was called then) and brought it back. I'd never heard them but pretended to everyone that I knew them because I had read about them in Sounds and Kerrang. When I went home and stuck it on, at first I thought what the hell is this? As soon as it kicked in that was me hooked!
  12. As I said, I must have been lucky.
  13. Just fitted the bridge and then strings. Never had to adjust intonation.
  14. The SECC was indeed dreadful but I don't think it was as bad as Ingleston. I saw Rush there back in the 80's and the sound was mince. Funnily enough, I have heard people slate the Hydro but in my opinion the sound is pretty good in there. The last time I saw Rush was in the SECC and the sound was pretty good, which reiterates your point about it being hit and miss.

  16. I don't really like this band but this song is just so happy!
  17. I do get such a lift from Scottish country dance music!
  18. I think you should just adopt what feels right for you. If it feels right, do it. Apart from thumb pluckers. They should be mocked!
  19. Excuse me! I resemble that remark! I'll have you know that I have seen and been in bands that did this very well indeed.
  20. Doesn't ring a bell. I asked my Mrs, who has an uncanny ability to remember everyone and she doesn't know them either.
  21. I must have been lucky. I have never had to adjust intonation. Even the basses and the guitar that I have built have all had perfect intonation.
  22. I have a few P basses. Most are home made from parts acquired on the internet but by far my fave is my American standard P which Mrs Ubits very accomplished guitar playing brother has borrowed. Promised to return very soon about two weeks ago and still has it. I am pining for it back. I have 14 other basses but that is my no.1. When he borrowed it he said is it ok? She said he has loads next door of course it's ok. I just smiled and gritted my teeth. He borrowed it before and asked to borrow it and I was like NO WAY! I think he is hoping I cave and say just keep it but God I miss it!
  23. This just came on my system whilst it was on random and I got a huge lift!
  24. I think the Fender Rory Gallagher Strat is the WORST ever relic job!
