  1. I remember when my mate had MTV and he showed me Little Texas and he said these guys are like the Def Leppard of country. Thats how cool Def Leppard were viewed as by us!
  2. I was into so many bands when I was in school and it was always the bass player that interested me. I loved so many but the epitome of cool has to be Rick Savage off of Def Leppard. They were the coolest of cool back then and I envied them so much!
  3. When we were playing as a duo with a drum machine we used to play both of these. They went down a storm.
  4. Always loved that bass line. I used to know it at the time but have forgotten it. Thanks for that I will re learn it now. Happy thread resurrection. I like to re invent old threads as they are still just as relevant now as they were.
  5. Hugs all round for being good guys 😘👍
  6. I think the jokes on you as you misread his post 😉
  7. I thought he was saying clitoris and Im sticking with that. Let's face it Relax was banned when it came out.
  8. Yup. All up around the £3,500, £4000 mark!
  9. That does indeed sound lovely and Im quite sure it would cut through in an acoustic situation but look at the size of the body. This is what I mean about double basses being big to project the sound.
  10. Is that a Spector Euro?
  11. I have started using gel before playing to try to extend the life of my strings. I like new strings and find that they go dull so quickly with my sweat or at least hand moisture.
  12. When we were playing regularly I would have a beer towel handy and wipe my hands in between songs. I would wipe down the strings and body as well. Just a quick wipe but enough to get the worst off. When I changed strings I would give it a really good wipe. I hate dusty, grubby guitars.
  13. 1, I live quite a bit away from the nearest guitar shop. About 100 miles to be precise and B. I always know that if I hate a bass that much I can sell it again. I can honestly say I have never found a bass that is so horrid that I could never get used to it. Maybe that's because for years when I first started I had to put up with real mediocrity and learned to deal with it.
  14. I have built guitars out of parts bought on the internet but I just don't have the know how to make a guitar neck. Apart from that I don't have workshop space. I think I will leave it to the pros.
  15. Yeah but I bet he couldn't hear you.
  16. That looks gorgeous mate. Well done. I just couldn't make something like this.
  17. This is the first time I have ventured onto the dusty vaults of the build diaries forum. I am simply blown away at the level of woodworking skill and accuracy involved with this. Well done Sir!
  18. There is a reason that double basses are so big. Thats what you need for the acoustics to work. An acoustic bass needs mic'd which flies in the face of why I bought one. I wanted to join in the Friday acoustic jam that my mates used to have. At the time I was a lot less adept on a six string as I am now, so I couldn't keep up to join in.
  19. Did you ever watch the documentary about them? It was comedy gold!
  20. I was just exaggerating to be hilarious. The elderly neighbour was a lovely lady who never actually complained. My Mum used to apologise to her and she would say oh, its nice to hear the young ones enjoying themselves. It was my Sister who complained. She would lay off that all I played were scales and that I kept making mistakes. Who learns and doesn't make mistakes? I don't speak to her now so stuff her anyway!
  21. Back when I were a lad, we didn't have headphones or the like. If you wanted to practice you turned it up. Much to our elderly neighbours disgust. Kids these days don't know they're born!
