  2. Basshanger.com must be rich guys just having a little flutter on the side then
  3. Poignant lyrics. Who says the days of the literary genius are gone?
  4. I apologise then. I mistakenly thought that not everyone had an Ampeg 8 x 10
  5. My point exactly!
  6. This seems a great idea but can only be of use to players who own an 8 x 10 fridge! https://www.basshanger.com/?fbclid=IwAR3pdTd3qJXUHwL_NQ4FNz0Z_5l9jCAUuF2xOheA8HlEIgx2JvGizx-K2TU
  7. Nope, just the outside. It's a special rust paint. You brush on a base coat, then spray a mixture over it and it produces real rust on any surface you want. I bought the stuff for artistic experiments. I rusted candlesticks, picture frames etc. then decided to try the old guitar. It still plays beautifully.
  8. I can’t even remember mate. All I know is it was an Epiphone Thunderbird. Looked awesome but sounded weak and uninteresting.
  9. I have always been in love with Thunderbirds and wanted one so badly. I decided to try out an Epiphone one and it was so meh, I couldn't believe it. I eventually sold it on eBay. Thing is, I don't know if its because it was an Epiphone and I still have terrible gas for a real one! The Epiphone was lacking in power and just didn't sound great. I was really disappointed!
  10. Be careful! I did this with a Taylor acoustic. It was £200 cheaper from the States. I asked the guy to mark on it that it was a gift. Customs still made me pay over £200 in bloody import tax before they would release it to me. It meant I was actually spending more than if I had just bought it locally!
  11. Buy a dishwasher!
  12. Not being paid is also stealing!
  13. Never upset a band. We are a different breed and usually have the advantage of knowing we will never see the people in question again. We have exacted revenge on a number of venues from nicking stage lights to scratching polished floors.

  15. So it’s no longer, is it good for metal? It’s now, is it good for reggae? personally, I think it’s obviously all down to sound and attack. Playing with a pic near the bridge won’t give that authentic reggae tone.
  16. Years ago, we were asked to play at a children in need night in a local pub. It was to be televised. There were about five bands that were going to play. Turned out the only bit that would be televised was us playing with an accordion player and there were dancers going to “break the record for the longest strip the willow”. All the other band members were jealous and decided to mime but all stood at the front. The only ones actually playing, were hidden at the back! When the two minute clip finished, the director would shout cut and we would spend the next half hour rehearsing the next two minute segment. Who would say what etc. The dancers would be standing bemused and getting more and more cheesed off, as they wanted a proper night. It’s was all so false and crappy. Gradually all the people left and the evening turned into a failure. It made me realise tv is so fake!
  17. To say I’m not a fan is a huge understatement. I do however, appreciate his musical ability. I don’t think he is a virtuoso but as previously said he knows what the song needs.

  19. I tried them on my bass too. Rubbish and dull sounding. As you say, on acoustic they are incredible but they just sound pants on a bass.
  20. The trouble is, a lot of people say their strings retain brightness for ages but to me they sound dead. I like brand new brightness and only brand new brightness. Cleaning your hands helps. Boiling gives you another extension of life but the only real answer is to find a supply of cheap enough new strings. I like Stainless for their brightness.
  21. Is it not about his well known love of cycling and the often needed roadside repairs?
  22. I have often listened to this and thought am I hearing this right. I’m not sure if it’s f*ckers or something else. Can’t believe they let that one go. It repeats endlessly!
  23. Typical. I just got paid and it’s back up to £55 😢
  24. It’s all down to taste, innit? Some like pristine, some like worn looking. Some like worn looking but only if it’s natural. Some don’t care, as the look is what matters. Who’s right and who’s wrong?
