1.
Go for it. If you don't, you will always be wondering 'what if?'
I concur. It's better to regret something you have done than something you haven't done!
2. Why do we spend so much on that particular speaker cab, then go out the DI and bypass everything you have spent ages on, perfecting that sound?
3.
And to think that the person responsible must have clearly thought about that little piece of art. I wonder if they're in the habit of carrying little Union Flags around with them, just in case they get caught short. Nowt as strange as folk.
Some people think it's funny to do things like this, so it was probably planned with military precision!
4.
And that's why I don't go to festivals...
Why, why, why is it that the ones who supply festival portaloos can't ask for them to be designed better? I mean , they block after the first half day. Surely a larger drain hole/ piping system would be in order. These toilets are going to get much more industrial treatment than the average household bog, which has a larger drain. It's surely in these event suppliers own interests, as it must be horrendous to have to clean them ! I know it certainly puts me off going to these things and I'm a guy. It must be worse for girls. Last one I went to , I was walking towards the line of bogs and I watched a girl going along the line tentatively opening each door and quickly shutting them again , which at least gave me an insight into which ones not to enter!
5. I find di ing doesn't give the best results. That's why I always mic my cab Gives a good sound out front.
6. I haven't paid a thing and I get regular video lessons sent via email
7. I think if you are good, it doesn't matter what dive you play. You will still be regarded as good. Just cos you play in the worst dive possible, does not mean folks will think you are rubbish. Some people are actually quite intelligent and can distinguish a good band from a crap venue!
8. Sounds good to me mate
9. I've got two of each. Love them all !
10. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141133762717
11. I think the Jap model neck is incredible ! I've never found it too thin. Would love to try out the Yank model right enough. I have a Yank Jazz too and it's got a lovely neck as well. I'm just a bit intrigued as to the performance of the pups on the American Geddy
12.
Rule number 3 You can't please everyone. Blue
But you CAN please some of the people all of the time and some of the people are gonna be in your audience , so you gotta get it right
13. It has had great write ups mate, so I would say you'd be a fool to miss it if you get the chance!
14. Need pics !
15. I feel a ban coming on !
16. I thought this was gonna be a humorous thread. Instead it's in poor taste for this forum. Plenty other places on the Internet for this !
17. I just think any gig is exposure. No matter what the challenges, you play and people enjoy it All is forgotten once you have hit them with something good!!
18. I was blown away and I was playing it through a poxy little Fender Rumble. I would love to hear it through a decent bass rig!
19. I have realised that I hate playing pretty much all of our set Time for a re hash!
20. The guy is an incredible musician. Even back in the Kajagoogoo days when I was a metal fan, I thought, this guy can play !
21.
I would have played it. Broadly, a booking's a booking as far as I'm concerned. We've played more ill-organized, unpromoted gigs to the soundguy and a stray dog than I care to remember - but at the end of the day, at worst it's a free rehearsal. Situations like this risk bands looking unprofessional & therefore jeopardising their reputations, and also risk creating schisms within the band. Speaking as someone who's been involved in booking gigs (in the past my band did a lot of gig shares & arranging our own nights) word does spread, and you soon learn which bands are reliable and who to avoid.
This I concur with!
22. I think I could deal with the slab body. After all, the original P basses were the same, indeed, I have a Cabronita which emulates the original P and it's definitely playable.
23.
The rest of the band and their lack of unity shafted you.
Depends on your outlook. I'm sure some of those who were watching thought the two who left shafted the guitarists
24. Trouble is, when you are in to playing other instruments, your GAS is expanded tenfold!
25. Very nice, although I'm afraid I couldn't justify paying that kind of money for a guitar. Have a free bump!
