The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
thisisswanbon replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Just realised I've accidently gone fully short scale! Recently traded my Sandberg for a Nordy Acinonyx, which means my gigging line up is now an Ibanez EHB1005sms and the Cat bass! I'm surprisingly happy about this, as they're both tremendously fun basses to play and incredibly lightweight! -
Source Audio UltraWave (One Series Multiwave distortion)
thisisswanbon replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
Thanks for that! I did check out some of his patches, and they're really good but not quite what I was after. I spotted some darkglass patches that used foldback (I think, not sure how they've managed that) and they sounded great. I think I'll have another look at it tonight before making the decision. I've got a feeling I'll get the tremolo from my C4 with the tap tempo switch, which would be handy as it's to run my C4 through anyways. Starting to feel like the aftershock that I sold to buy this was maybe a more suitable tool. -
Source Audio UltraWave (One Series Multiwave distortion)
thisisswanbon replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
At the risk of reviving a dead thread... My Ultrawave came today, and I don't get it! 🤯 I was looking for a tap tempo tremelo, along with a mastotron style fuzz and some more tradition drives and fuzzes that I could run parallel (for the occasional clubfoot cover). Ive sussed out the tremelo, and there are a few mastotron patches in the neuro hub ( @Quatschmacher, yours in particular stood out! 👏) But the more traditional drives evade me! Everything seems built around the foldback stuff, which I'm just not a fan of. Very tempted to return, which isn't like me at all! What am I missing?! -

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

Does anyone know if it's possible on the stomp to change how FS3 is assigned per patch? I use the tap tempo for 1 track, but it seems a shame to lose that footswitch on every patch because of 1 song. Also, editing snapshops on the editor seems to be a bit of a slog... has anyone tried changing the function of a path split from crossover back to Y in a snapshot? -

Sounds perfect! Downloaded those Celestion IR's last night Opted to try the 4x10 option first, you get A LOT of options in there! Some of them sound great but I'm struggling to get them to play nice with my synthy and parallel drive stuff. Think I'll try the Pulse12s or 15s and see if there's much difference. -

That's my plan... my set up is a GK 1001RB-II into a Barefaced Big Twin II, which I believe is a pretty flat response cab so hopefully it comes through faithfully if I use the effects return. I've never done this set up before though, does the input gain and pad impact or is it literally just the master output? -

That's very true. I can't get my head around people paying for presets; IR responses fine, but not so much presets. I did find his flat response amp settings beneficial. I'll definitely have another look at it! -

Everyone has recommended the Dr Tone site to me. Some of the EQ guides have been really helpful, but I've found most of the demo videos he's posted to be very mid scooped. Maybe I'm approaching it wrong though for the amount of people who'd recommended it. -

I'm hugely tempted... haven't played with it through my amp as yet though so not even sure if the IR will be needed, it's all new to me! It was nice not having to take my amp to the last festival gig we did though. -

Awesome! Still using the celestion IRs? I've just got my hands on an HX stomp, and was underwhelmed by the stock cab sims and the majority of the free offerings. I found a decent Aguilar SL112 IR from Tyler Spicer which is much better, but I'm not convinced that it's the pinnacle and I'm sure there must be better out there... -
Awesome, that did the trick! Massive thanks for that, I'd assumed neuro desktop would notify me when there was an update available! This is much more practical than the 1 way communication of the headphone jack, although it's a shame the neuro app doesn't tell you which preset you're editing, that would've been even better.

Think I may be missing something here... I've got my standard USB cable that connects the C4 to my pc, and that's connected to my phone by the standard USB to USB C adapter that came with the phone, but the two aren't talking 🤔 any ideas?

Price Drop £850! Will consider trades, especially nice precisions, jazzes and stingrays... but hit me with what you got! Can remove Neck pick up before sale FOC if needed. Spector Rebop 4MM with FULLY REVERSIBLE upgrades (they really make a difference though) in excellent condition. Details of upgrades below. First off, the EMG MMHZ was replaced for an Aguilar MM pick up for a fuller sound in the bridge position. What a fantastic pick up this is. I no longer have the EMG pick up but they're still easy to get hold of. Secondly, a new passive circuit was fitted, but the tone pump is tucked away inside for an easy reinstall. Controls are now Vol, pick up blend and tone. Third and best, a custom made ROUTELESS neck pick up was fitted without drilling a single visible hole which gives a huge pallet on tones, sounds massive on it's own but can be fully removed without a trace. (build diary - https://www.facebook.com/348973598868510/posts/807761396323059/?sfnsn=scwspmo) Also purchased a fitted Spector hardcase which has some good signs of use. Selling as moved over to 5 strings, upgrades and case cost upwards of £400, and these were last on sale new for £1400+ with second hand prices going upwards since being discontinued. Looking for £1000 £850 ovno plus shipping costs. Happy to meet for fuel contribution or deliver locally free. Can take more images on request 🙂

It was shockingly cut, it looked as if it had been hacked out with a Stanley knife. It was sent back a second time for truss rod issues after it was returned back from this repair, and in the end they refunded it and I exchanged for one of the short scale models. Shame, too; the Birdseye on the fretboard was exceptional, much better than on my new one. This one also came with a stripped out strap peg hole, but I was sick of complaining about it at this point so I filled it with toothpicks as standard.

I wasn't impressed to be honest! Even with the bass control it didn't seem to have as much body to it as a proper green russian big muff. Ended up selling it and buying the real deal (which is now also in the for sale section due to being surplus to requirements) 🤦♂️
