  1. They also now have a 3.5mm aux in/phones out on the back too, which I think is a hugely practical addition and something massively overlooked in modern class D heads. I've recently purchased a NUX mighty plug pro for this application, but would much rather that it was integrated into my pedalboard.
  2. Spotted this on faceache today - seems a but coy in the comments too... seems inevitable with everything else being updated and the new form factor for the AG preamp. I've just gotten a good deal on a used one too, no doubt I'll end wanting the new one regardless 😫
  3. Thanks gents - I'm actually tempted to pull the sale, I've re-added it to my board to see if I can find use. The ultrawave may just become an expensive doorstop 😂
  4. Answered my own question and bought a Tone Hammer - surprisingly close. The ToneX one definitely captures the character! It's also so much closer to the qualities of analogue than any of the line 6 etc modellers have come... scary to think what they've crammed into this at such a low price! Software is AWFUL though... mines going back simply because the money is needed elsewhere... I'd love to justify keeping it, and will most likely buy again in the future.
  5. I've had some decent board set ups in my time, but I think this is the one 👌 eventually a small midi controller will be added to the C4 as I like an envelope filter but my 6 presets are filled with dancy synths. Replaced the Bass Zio with a Tone Hammer. I feel late to the party with this one but I think there's a reason they've not changed it in 15 years, what a sound! Briefly had an IK ToneX one infront of the aforementioned Bass Zio, but gravitated to the Tone Hammer captures so thought "Why not just get a Tone Hammer?" (Side note, the ToneX One is a scary good piece of kit, AI frightens me). Also put the Sovtek Deluxe back on as I just love it, and the one patch I was using on the Ultrawave is easily approximated on the C4. I'll likely keep the Ultrawave all the same just for the poor resale on them - cracking bit of kit that will likely come in handy somewhere down the line. Brilliant utility pedal, that seems vastly misunderstood - most likely due to all of the sponsored reviews leaning on the crazy trem stuff... anyway, I digress.
  6. Just clocked the "Sim amp" too! https://www.demon-fx.com/index.php?c=show&id=92
  7. Any of you using the tonex and also have experience with the tonehammer di? Short story long - Bought myself the tonex one as a birthday present, and while I'm really impressed with it I find myself gravitating to the tonehammer capture on the tone-net. It's subtle, but does something cool to my tone. Now wondering if an actual tonehammer would give me more of what the tonex is doing 🤔
  8. Latest iteration.... Removed: EHX Sovtek Deluxe Muff, Joyo Monomyth... more I can't remember Added: More than I can remember... gone back to the Ultrawave, mostly due to extra spluttering it provides for synth stuff, and lack of resaleability... Added an attenuator at beginning of chain, as my Z7 is too hot for the dynassor even with the pre leveled off internally The space heater goes before the Zio to warm everything up... thanks @Berserker, it really does the trick! the zio is just a quality DI all around, although it may soon be swapped for a tonehammer DI... any thoughts on Zio vs Tonehammer? Worried with the space heater it may end up being TOO warm...
  9. Only price drop I'll make - £185 + shipping
  10. EHX Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff - £100 plus fiver shipping As new condition, comes with box etc, 3M dual lock on bottom corners (easily removed). My favourite muff pedal, it's like a green russian with clean blend and other mods pre - installed! Switchable, sweepable mid cut/boost with narrow/wide range switch is a thing you didn't know you need on a muff until you try it! Only selling as I have this and a Source Audio Ultrawave... I'd rather sell the ultrawave but I suspect this will be the quicker of the two to go...
  11. Brilliant sounding pedal - I've got a couple of Jam pedals now and they're brilliant (and really well presented and packaged!) My only niggle with the rattler is the headroom, apparently mkII has more headroom but I still find myself having to crank the level with any reasonable clean blend mixed in. Never found it to be too quiet though so no biggy. I find this blends with an octaver better than any muff fuzz for a brilliant synth tone
  12. Yup, still available 🙂
  13. Oh wow! I'd always thought it was the other way! 🤦‍♂️ That backfired - I had assumed that was why it was £100 more than the solid colour Z7 basses
  14. It's not something that can be tightened - It's not the fitting that's loose, the socket itself doesn't hold the cable, so the cable works its way out. The jack is also encased in plastic inside so you can't bend the contacts. This bass is on it's way back now anyways - the darker neck one from Thomann is as tight as a gnat's chuff and much more secure. The darker neck is starting to grow on me - and I don't use the neck pick up enough for the volume issues to be a hinderance - my compressor goes some way to helping with this too. Opted for the Swamp ash so it'd be lighter, I suspect this is heavier than the colour options though. The feel of the neck gives enough good will to ignore the smaller sins... The darker contrast in the neck may grow on me over time - who knows 🤔
  15. Can't believe this is still here! I've tried buying cheaper octave pedals in the past to cash in on the apparent 3Leaf frenzy and move mine on, but I can never bring myself to let it go, it's just too good!
  16. I didn't realise these had an internal trim pot - I'd wager that's the issue, which I'm fine with - the loose output jack letting the cable come out mid set - a bit of a bigger issue. Same with quiet middle string, neck pick up issue. Not human error and a bit more of a deal breaker. I agree @Chienmortbb, the dark neck is less pleasing aesthetically. The fit and finish seems much better on this bass though - not sure where the extra lb of weight comes from mind!
  17. I've revisited the thomann one before sending it back... and I'm even more confused! The Thomann bass has a MUCH darker neck, weighs a full 1lb more, is nowhere near as hot output wise, has a MUCH more secure output jack but has the quietness in the A and D strings on the neck pick up! I tried swapping batteries between the basses but this didn't change the output either way. Andertons bass (lighter headstock and neck) is on its way back... undecided about the Thomann one at present - interested to see how it stacka up against everyone else's weight and tone wise. Anyone else's neck this dark, bass this heavy (9.9lb), and is your preamp mega LOUD? I may abandon ship at this point and look at the SBEBMM Ray34 range
  18. Awesome! Glad it's worked out for you! It's incredible how good sire necks are... other companies should take note!
  19. So further to my niggles - I've found ANOTHER issue and think mine is going back... On the neck pick up, the A and D are seriously underpowered. I thought this was the case at my gig last night, but thought I'd to check it in a more controlled environment before passing judgement... this ISNT the case on the bridge pickup, so I know it's not an uneven string set, and it's even more pronounced in passive mode. Anyone else had this? I'm really pleased for all of you that aren't having issues by the way! These are great feeling, looking and sounding basses... I just feel like I've received the entirety of the first shipments issues 😂.
  20. So I found a couple more issues with mine, and I've had my hands on three of these now... Firstly, loose knobs! Mid control was mega loose, which is not good when Andertons assured me this had been QCd. Second, there's a very small ding around the Second fret. Not an issue per se, but all 3 have had imperfections on the neck Third and worst... the input jack isn't very secure, causing my cable to fall out mid gig tonight. As I've now returned two of these, I'll likely look for a fix rather than replacement Honourable mention: There's also a major volume mismatch between the neck and bride pup volume wise, and there's ALOTof bass in the active bass control. For me, the preamp is a weak point. Other than that though (😂) great bass, sits well on the strap, plays great after a set up and for the most part sounds awesome (if a bit hot)
  21. Actually both the basses I received (Thomann and Andertons) were the same, really high action! Didn't adjust them as I'm returning though but good to know!
  22. So after still no response from Thomann, I panic ordered from Andertons thinking I'd return the Thomann bass when it eventually arrives... Typically, both arrived at the same time! 🤦‍♂️ Both are being sent back. The thomann bass was certainly the nicer bass as far as wood grain goes, and it seemed as though it had genuinely been QC'd. Issue is there's a blemish/dot on the back of the neck that you can feel underthumb that I think would bug me... The Andertons bass definitely hadn't been checked. There were sharp fret edges as well as shocking finishing at the top of the neck, and shavings under the scratchboard. I have a replacement coming tomorrow so hopefully third time lucky!
  23. Enjoy gents! Still no dispatch on mine... hugely tempted to order from Andertons and send the Thomann one back... I may have to unfollow this thread until mine arrives... its too painful 😂
