Epic build thread and great to see it finished. For a bass with oodles of cool little features it looks very clean and simple. Love it.

[s]I have been gigging since 1997, mostly with originals bands for the first 10 years. I joined the covers band SHE/SEZ (http://www.shesez.co.uk) in 2007 and found that I got as much buzz out of playing covers as I had done playing originals (audiences are far more receptive, know the material, and it's far more rewarding too!). I left SHE/SEZ a couple of years after joining due to relocation back to Essex. I am looking to join something similar where I live now in and around Chelmsford. I am a very keen bassist who enjoys playing to the audience and really gets stuck into the material. I am very easy going and have plenty of gigging experience. Ideally I'm looking to join an already established band (looking to replace a departed bassist) or will consider a new start-up only if there is already clear leadership and direction. I have my own gear and transport, and a day job with predictable office hours. My experience is with mostly modern pop/rock but I'm happy to play anything as long as there is a definite market for it. As I have a young family I can only stretch to 3-4 gigs a month. I'm in it to mix with fun-minded musicians who don't mind their hobby covering the cost of rehearsals/strings/beer/etc. PM me here, or email - pipdibble AT googlemail D O T com[/s]

They also do a serial number checker on their website: http://www.warwick.de/modules/support/seri...22701&cl=EN

Headphones when I'm working the songs out. If i've already worked the songs out and I'm just playing along as a refresher then I run the line out into the mp3/CD in on my Line6 110 Studio combo.

I seem to have lost the ability to retain anything in my head long-term or short since my littl'un was born over a year ago. I'd be interested to hear any kind of help anyone has. Of course getting more/better sleep is probably key.

ISP Technologies Bass Vector Pro active cabinets and BETA Preamplifier

That looks like the dogs preverbials. The spec on paper is also pretty impressive. Considering you've been pursuing light-weight cabs for quite a while now these must be hugely impressive to make you about-turn. Are you using this rig with your covers band? Will have to try to coincide my next Norwich visit with one of your gig dates. -

What a great idea. I love to see how Jon interprets a design when he's given something a little different. I'll be watching this thread.

I'm in the process of writing a proper review with pics n stuff as soon as, but I couldn't resist getting a taster up online. Special thanks has got to go to Buck Waller at ISP - and also the guys from GotoGuitars near Manchester for distribution in the UK http://www.isptechnologies.com/
You kept that one quiet (or I haven't been frequenting the right threads). I thought that mixing driver sizes was a big no-no. Has it all changed again? I need to keep up with the latest fads

There's an obscene amount of amps on that list, so I'd like to revise my equipment list to: 18. peted - Warwick Thumb BO 4, Squier MIJ modded Precision, Shuker Singlecut 6 fanned fret (if it's ready by then, but I'm not holding my breath)

I could well forfeit my membership here by saying this, but I'm not an Alembic fan. That bass is gorgeous though - the best Alembic I've seen yet. Congratulations.
-
That is some seriously cool gear. Love the scratchplate too.
Id recommend chocolate hobnobs.
That was going to be a question I was going to ask when my bass is ready for collection as I know it is customary to turn up at Jon's with biscuits in hand. Wanted to find out what was perhaps a favoured biscuit among the luthier trade. Chocolate covered hobnobs it is!
I will be picking it up Saturday 19th September!
Awesome! Don't forget to take plenty of photos when you get it home and post them up here. Then you can lock yourself away from the world and get yourself acquainted.

That is a lovely Warwick. My Thumb bolt-on 4 is an amazing bass and I'll be taking it to the grave. The Shuker I'm getting built has a lot of Warwick inspired touches.
-
Congratulations! You've just provoked a serious amount of fretless GAS in me. I don't even play fretless!
-
I doubt youd need that much readjusting to the fanned frets - I found mine quite comfortable, and I only had it for a few days before Merton pinched it. Love the stealth singlecut look!
Thanks for the vote of confidence. This bass has a lot more 'firsts' for me other than the fanned frets - 6 strings, 18V pre-amp, EMGs, Singlecut shape. All features that I've tried and liked in shops or friends basses, but never in basses I've owned myself. I'm planning for this bass to keep me locked away practicing for a very long time.

That's a great setup you've got there. The single 1x15" is definitely the workhorse rig. I don't play Double Bass, but I'm liking the look of the two you've got there. What sort of stuff do you play? Are you in bands?
-
I'm sure you've just void the warrantee on my computer screen with that photo. That must look spectacular in person.
-
Thanks Merton, Dood. Latest update from Jon:
I'm in the middle of flatting the lacquer before its polished, then its a case of bolting all the bits on, a bit of fretwork, a bit of a rest and its done! Still a bit to do but we're on the home straight.
I don't think it's going to be ready for the next SE Basschat Bash at the beginning of October, so won't be able to show it off You'll all have to wait until the S.E.B.B. 2010 to see it in person. Hopefully I'll also have had enough practice to do the bass justice!
Ibanez SR series might be a good choice from what I hear...
+1, although I owned the 4 string SR900 the neck was almost pencil-like at the nut and I should think that the 5 and 6 string versions probably follow a similar design pattern.
-
Congratulations! I also know how you feel being in a band full of proper trained musicians. Still feels a little daunting to me, but while they argue over whether it's an A# or Bb I can be quite happy playing 1st fret 2nd string
-
Very nice job indeed! White basses certainly do look cool on stage.
-
Very cool. Do you get many bassists approaching you after shows asking what went wrong with your frets?
-
Cheers guys. Naturally I'm very excited today and finding it difficult to concentrate on anything that isn't these pictures
