1. Hi. I dont have a Fender-style P bass but reading this was curious as to the measurements on my bass which is a Yamaha RBX with a P/J configuration. Interestingly the measurement from the nut to the leading edge of the EA pup is exactly the same as Howie's Squier at 69.8 cm. Make of that what you will. Cheers.
2. Definitely interested if any still going. PM'd.
3. Totally skint after Christmas but if you still have this come February then I would be interested. Can collect as well. Cheers.
4. As a relative newbie, to continue practicing and making the progress I have in the 12 months since I first picked up a bass and most importantly to start playing with other musicians. I am hooking up with a guitarist in the new year and hoping to persuade a drummer mate of mine to come out of retirement and join us and we will then see where that takes us.
5. In a baritone mood this evening. Leo Parker from 1961. http://youtu.be/m-G9JVyZv3c
6. Jesus, that Gangnam Style one. Deeply disturbing!!!!!!
7. Oooh my days!! Those are things of beauty right there. Deeply jealous.
8. Re-living my youth with a bit of 'Rattus Norvegicus'. Great, great album.
9. Calm of Zero. No bass involved at all but always loved Sonya Aurora Madan's voice
10. No problems. I always thought that somebody locally would be interested and it makes much more sense for you than lugging it across the country. Cheers anyway.
11.
One of my favourite albums ever! We must have been the only 2 people who bought it!
Great album by a great band.....so under-rated. Excellent live too.
12.
No prob, I'll be in touch when I do, might even be over Bury way. I was raised on Greene King!
That would be great. If you do I will make sure there are a few bottles of Abbott for you in exchange!!
13.
Cheers Ricky - probably over Cambridge way next month for my pre-Xmas fix of Abbott Ale........
Ahhh.....Abbott Ale! I live less than half a mile from the Brewery!! If you still have the amp by the time you come over this way and can put it in the back of your car then I could arrange to pick it up off you. No worries if not. Cheers
14. I could just do with one of those. Shame I am on the other side of the country! I am sure you will have plenty bite your hand off for it.
15. This afternoon, revisiting Longpigs - Mobile Home
16. Cheers, looks good. Have downloaded.
17. Tonight it's Joanne Shaw Taylor - Songs from the Road.
18. Yep, used to play Strong Persuader album to death when it first came out. Saw him live at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival earlier this year. Thoroughly decent live and I really enjoyed it. Couple of dyed in the wool jazzers who were with me were less than impressed tho as Jazz it certainly is not!!!!
19. Now, I dont claim to be an expert on all things Squier and Fender but surely this can't be right...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-p-bass-guitar-/321551237519?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 Isn't that a standard Affinity Series starter package that you pick up for £250? Happy to be corrected if I am wide of the mark
20.
That's Linda Oh on bass! If you are in a trumpet mood, what about these guys? The Avishai Cohen Trio (the trumpeter not the bass player)
Whoaaah! Full on, loving that!! Must be seeking me out some more. Also, apologies. Meant to give the marvellous Linda Oh a name check in the original post.
21. In a bit of a trumpet mood this evening so here's a couple of my favourites: http://youtu.be/hUrjoTF8XyM and something a little more contemporary... http://youtu.be/Qw0BESvKWIw
22. Yep indeed. I've only seen DH once but that was also with the quintet a few years back down in Bath. That would have been with Nate Smith on drums then tho but still really fantastic live.
23. I haven't read back through the whole thread (I could be here for some time) so apologies if posted before but I had to throw in some Dave Holland Quintet. Fantastic musicians and so tight. Love the DB solo intro on this one, the amazing inter-play between Billy Kilson on drums and Robin Eubanks on the T'bone and awesome soloing as ever from Chris Potter (tho I do prefer him on tenor). Mentioned everyone else so must mention Steve Nelson's vibes - not everyones cup of tea but adds a different dimension. Great stuff. http://youtu.be/Q66FA7XGHso Hope the link works!!
24.
I'm getting nothing . No pictures or sound , just a pop up wanting me to install something
When I opened it, it just needed Quicktime to run I think. Regarding the bass line, there is a little run near the end which I have been doing wrong (or maybe just differently) which I will try and get my head round. I think what I have been playing sounds Ok though. Just managed to get it up to speed as well after months of trying.
25. Hi Yan and welcome! Not sure how much help I will be as I have been playing bass less time than you, but hey I am also from sunny Suffolk so at least something in common right there. Good luck with the new band. Something I will also be looking to do in the future but not sure I am quite ready yet. Enjoy!
